Being in such a pedestrian friendly semi-residential neighborhood across from a small dog park, Whole Foods and a short distance from many businesses on Ventura Blvd, Van Nuys Blvd and Hazeltine Avenue it's definitely a great one to pop into. I haven't been in since I don't even remember... I always seem to be passing by after hours or on a holiday, but finally returned with a brand new LAPL card and zest for books or rather some graphic novel research. I did a lot of browsing down several isles and managed to grab a free computer to look up a few things. Noting what was at this location, and those at other LA Valley libraries in the San Fernando Valley. Everything is clearly laid out, easy signs, cataloging and clean clear isles made for a smooth trip. I checked out with two books and got three full weeks before I had to bring them back. The Librarian who checked me out addressed me by my name as soon as she scanned my card. She was really warm and friendly. Returned my books via return box drop off - just left of the main doors a few days early #ReadingIsFundamental Some cool things to note are book donations are accepted here. Their story time for babies, toddlers and kids throughout the week. Additionally - LAPL Sherman Oaks has Adult Coloring on Thursdays (I'm so in) as well as tutoring on Tuesdays that entail: "Filling out forms, English conversation/reading/writing, job or school resumes and applications, studying for citizenship tests, and basic cell phone and computer use" - according to their website which is on a first come first serve basis. I go their pretty frequently, but not that often. It is close to home and when I need to get some work done of any kind, I need peace and quiet; since you can't do much at home. Too much distraction from neighbors and every day life. I need to address some highlights to certain things that gets my attention. First and foremost, I would like to describe the beauty of the architecture of this building. It is very well curated in a very unique way with white, beautiful flowers all around the building and parking lot. Inside is very CLEAN, bright, lit, with high ceilings. It has plenty of room to move around, lots and lots of tables/chairs, a separate room for children's section, an information desk, lots of computers with free WI-FI, shelves are very nicely organized with all types of books. Fiction, non fiction and other types of books.They have a full rack of MAGAZINES in the back, but YOU CAN ONLY USE THEM INSIDE THE LIBRARY! Can't check them out. An easy check out system by their employees, and they are pretty fast and quick. Employees are very nice, helpful and friendly. I have to mention them by their names. Not in any particular order: Brian, Devin, Dominique, Vince, Lupe, Kim, Kristine, and there was a lady by the name of Maureen that no longer works there. ALL SUPER HELPFUL whenever you need anything! I not only like to go and work there, do some paperwork, write bills, organize miscellaneous things etc...I also like to rent DVD's from this library, books, and if you request a movie or a book and they don't have it on the shelf, the process is SEAMLESS. You tell them what you need, and they will get it for you within a week and place it on their HOLD shelf, email or call you that the items are ready to be picked up. Has an ample size parking lot, clean restrooms for boys and girls, and a water fountain to fill up your bottle. What more can one ask for?? This was my first visit in the many years ive lived in the Valley. STACEY was the librarian who…read morehelped me. She was extremely helpful, friendly, and patient the entire time! I know some people may think of librarians as a specific "type" of person (older, glasses, not that friendly) but she could have been working at a boutique for all I know. She made sure I got everything I needed - went back and forth multiple times and was all smiles. The location isn't in the best area as it's right across from the Van Nuys Courthouse, so there are some homeless or mentally unstable individuals especially at night. The parking lot is diagonal to the library so you have to walk through from the side - but there are a lot of parking spots though. Inside, it's very clean, spacious, and well kept. Big areas for children's books and children-only tables, and counter-like tables for adults lining the outer ends of the library facing out with outlets if you're using a laptop. Highly recommend coming by here, public libraries are a great service for everyone and the two I've been to have been nothing short of exceptional.

I decided that i for sure wanted to get a book from a local author and some cool unique books that were unconventional. They had some books behind glass cases and some others that were mass printed in the 90s and a whole section for California based authors. Perfect. They also had many sections of some of my favorite books, books that are on my TBR and many many many books that were so tempting to get that seemed so good. I ended up getting 4 books for under $100. One of which is a book by a local author, and 3 others that were collectibles of some sort. If you desire a more communal public space, there are plenty of seats in the middle of the library. But if you are looking for a more quiet, subdued, isolated experience, check the far corners of the library at the end of some of the shelves and you'll find perfectly unoccupied spaces to be in your own zone. While I don't love that you have to take a ticket to park, the first two hours here are free. Bonus perk: you don't have to be a resident of Beverly Hills to have a Beverly Hills library card. I signed up for one and I'm looking forward to using this in addition to my LAPL card. Another bonus perk: they offer passport services here.

Located nearby a public park as well. I walked in and the front desk is right next to the entrances. The staff was very observant and would assist people that needed help. There's sections blocked off for teens and kids, so for adults it's a bit harder to find spots if you want to sit. One printer machine and one scanner machine. The architecture of the place is pretty inside and I like the rustic old library feel of the inside, it feels comforting. Lots of flyers of different services and events as well!! I don't mind coming back here in the future for any tasks.
