The last time I stepped foot into this library was probably 30 years ago when I needed copies for class and Kinko's was closed. This Branch is still clean, quite , and easy to navigate. I didn't have any interaction with the staff, but they're around if you need assistance Studio City Library is on the smaller side but it's organized well. They have a copy machine, public computers/ printers , movies &audio, and weekly events. Parking is ample and there's plenty of tables inside to get some work done.

One of my favorite libraries in the valley. It's always clean and smells like books lol if you know you know! Helpful and friendly staff.

When I visit a library one of the first things I think of when I am done is how easy it is to use. How easy it is to find subjects, categories and media like movies and audio really determine if I like a library or not. This small neighborhood branch is great. Easy to find and super nice librarians. When you walk in you can pretty much see where you need to go. Selection is pretty good. Movie section is easy to navigate too, with lots of new titles. Parking lot is a tad small but you can get a spot during mid day hours.

I'm a book worm... and proud of it. I even won a prize in last year's summer reading program! A Barnes and Noble gift card! It was a highlight of the summer. Anyway, I'm not satisfied with the North Hollywood branch library (see my review) and thus, went to the Studio City library which is also minutes away. Although I love historic buildings such as the one the North Hollywood Library resides in, I'm a sucker for a new building. High ceilings, lots of lights, and a ton of space results in a very welcoming library. However, the library lacks a large selection of books! The non-fiction books (bios, philosophy, science, technology, etc) are contained within a 5 aisle area. I've been to libraries in which just one category receives 5 aisles! Very disappointing. As for fiction, the books are high on the popular (but lame in my book--pun!) authors like Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele but low on obscure authors. Another bummer. If you are looking for DVDs, don't expect new releases and you can only loan them for 2 days. Ironically, the North Hollywood Library has new releases in stock. Magazines? Again, don't expect much from their meager selection of Cosmo and Seventeen. But honestly, it's not THAT bad and I came away with 6 books on one trip. As for Internet, there is free wi-fi and therefore the library is filled with young men spending their time on Facebook (get a life, guys!). At least they were cute. The con of this Internet usage is that the level of "click click click" on the keyboard volume was so high and annoying that I could barely concentrate on searching for books. Very distracting! You can also use their computers for free. Overall though, a pleasant, bright library that I can still spend an hour or two in even amongst the Facebook creepos and click click click of their keyboards (learn to not pound on the keys, people!).

"Whoa," said Stephy in her worst Keanu Reeves impression to date, "People actually read in LA? Like books n stuff? Really? Whoa" That's pretty much the conversation I had with myself a few weeks ago when I decided to stop in here on my way home to check it out. (And don't look at me like I'm the only person who has Keanu convos with themselves...........hello.............*crickets*) Anyhoo, yeah, wow, this is a really cool library in both vibe and design and it was pretty full for a Wednesday afternoon. Kids reading books, elders reading books and even a really cute guy reading a book (is there anything hotter...actually?) It's also open til around 8 during the weeknights which is great if you are studying or really into that encyclopedia chapter on terrestrial crustaceans in the genera Armadillidium and Armadillo. More importantly, coming to this library answered my question about kids today and school today. I often joke with friends about how you would never actually need to go to a library again since near everything is online these days, but low and behold there are actually people studying and edumacating themselves in paper form. Who knew?

Children's section always well stocked and fun for the kids. Sometimes there's a volunteer reader and that's fine too.

Does this library have any study rooms? I am looking for a nice place to tutor wo interpreting others. Thanks in advance.

I lived in North Hollywood for 5 years and never knew this branch existed (in my defense I lived in…read morethe oposite corner of the city). But I absolutely missed out on calling this my local branch. It is an absolutely stunning branch. It's small, but the architecture and windows are just so beautiful that you can't help but just walk around and take it all in. This branch feels more like a monument than a library. Or, maybe it's just a monument to books. Staff was so incredibly friendly. When I came in saying I was on a quest to get all of the 100th anniversary branch stamps, not only did the woman help me get my stamp, but she also provided me with a pamphlet on the library and the area, other information on local events, and a ton of coloring materials for my kids. All without having to ask for it! She was just that happy to help. The branch is next to a large park so it's a wonderful area to check out a book and then walk outside to find some shade and enjoy it right away. It's just perfect. Parking lot is tiny. Be prepared to just park on the street. Luckily there's plenty of street parking so you won't have to look for long.

Located nearby a public park as well. I walked in and the front desk is right next to the entrances. The staff was very observant and would assist people that needed help. There's sections blocked off for teens and kids, so for adults it's a bit harder to find spots if you want to sit. One printer machine and one scanner machine. The architecture of the place is pretty inside and I like the rustic old library feel of the inside, it feels comforting. Lots of flyers of different services and events as well!! I don't mind coming back here in the future for any tasks.

Once you're able to find parking (this branch's parking lot is practically non existent), the location is nice. It's somewhat plain inside, but that doesn't really bother me. I come to a library to look for & check out books so not having a ton of things on the walls or other decorations helps keep me focused. I've noticed this on almost all of my library stops, but I will say it again here: the staff is wonderful. The librarians were so wonderful and so helpful. I came here to get the branch stamp they have for the 100th anniversary of the LAPL and they lit up when they saw me ask for a stamp. They asked me how it was going & if I needed help getting to any other branches. Even when I'm not asking for books they still bend over backwards to help me. I absolutely love it.

But then you realize it extends this way, and that way, and it just sort of sucks you in deeper and deeper. I spent an hour here, bought way too many books, and could easily have spent another hour. There are absolute diamonds to be found here and the prices are very reasonable. The Iliad also has what every bookstore anywhere should have: cats. There are two cats roaming the bookstore and they are very friendly. If I owned a bookstore, it would be a haven for cats. Well worth a visit and a drive from almost anywhere.

The moment you walk in the front door you're confronted with the fact that they have a lot of books on a lot of subjects. In fact, at this location, the moment you walk into the door, you find a gigantic pile of all kinds of books on all kinds of subjects that they're offering for very discounted prices. I've often wondered what would happen if you wanted a book on the very bottom of the pile, and if you pulled it out, everything may come flying. But, that's just part of the fun of shopping at this bookstore, you never know what adventure you're going to encounter. In terms of selection, they have books on pretty much any subject you can think of. In some ways, it's a little hard to find certain things in this bookstore due to the massive quantity of books they have all set up in long aisles. In some cases, what I find kind of fun/curious is the fact that perhaps they will have a sign telling you that a certain subject of books in a particular aisle, but, when you look down that aisle, you can find none of the books on that subject. Mostly, I believe, that's just because they've sold out of that particular subject matter. But, it does make for an interesting quest, because there's been a few times when I've looked around the shop and found books on that subject in a completely different section. Thus, the chaos of this book shop adds to the overall quest for that great piece of reading material. This bookshop focuses a lot on fiction and poetry. They really have a large collection by various authors from across all genres and across the globe. So, if you're looking for that really unique piece of fiction and or poetry, this book shop most likely will have it. Overall, ever since its inception, Iliad has been a great place to find books. Yes, it is kind of a chaotic/fun sort of a mess. But, that adds to the overall uniqueness of this business. Fun place to shop!
