The last time I stepped foot into this library was probably 30 years ago when I needed copies for class and Kinko's was closed. This Branch is still clean, quite , and easy to navigate. I didn't have any interaction with the staff, but they're around if you need assistance Studio City Library is on the smaller side but it's organized well. They have a copy machine, public computers/ printers , movies &audio, and weekly events. Parking is ample and there's plenty of tables inside to get some work done.

One of my favorite libraries in the valley. It's always clean and smells like books lol if you know you know! Helpful and friendly staff.

When I visit a library one of the first things I think of when I am done is how easy it is to use. How easy it is to find subjects, categories and media like movies and audio really determine if I like a library or not. This small neighborhood branch is great. Easy to find and super nice librarians. When you walk in you can pretty much see where you need to go. Selection is pretty good. Movie section is easy to navigate too, with lots of new titles. Parking lot is a tad small but you can get a spot during mid day hours.

I'm a book worm... and proud of it. I even won a prize in last year's summer reading program! A Barnes and Noble gift card! It was a highlight of the summer. Anyway, I'm not satisfied with the North Hollywood branch library (see my review) and thus, went to the Studio City library which is also minutes away. Although I love historic buildings such as the one the North Hollywood Library resides in, I'm a sucker for a new building. High ceilings, lots of lights, and a ton of space results in a very welcoming library. However, the library lacks a large selection of books! The non-fiction books (bios, philosophy, science, technology, etc) are contained within a 5 aisle area. I've been to libraries in which just one category receives 5 aisles! Very disappointing. As for fiction, the books are high on the popular (but lame in my book--pun!) authors like Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele but low on obscure authors. Another bummer. If you are looking for DVDs, don't expect new releases and you can only loan them for 2 days. Ironically, the North Hollywood Library has new releases in stock. Magazines? Again, don't expect much from their meager selection of Cosmo and Seventeen. But honestly, it's not THAT bad and I came away with 6 books on one trip. As for Internet, there is free wi-fi and therefore the library is filled with young men spending their time on Facebook (get a life, guys!). At least they were cute. The con of this Internet usage is that the level of "click click click" on the keyboard volume was so high and annoying that I could barely concentrate on searching for books. Very distracting! You can also use their computers for free. Overall though, a pleasant, bright library that I can still spend an hour or two in even amongst the Facebook creepos and click click click of their keyboards (learn to not pound on the keys, people!).

I had an excellent experience. I was helped by the branch manager, Chris, who is very adept at helping more than one person at the same time, while delivering some the best service I've experienced anywhere. Each person is treated with maximum respect, not rushed and even when they were frustrated, he was patient. This is the gold standard of customer service demonstrated right at your public library! I can only imagine that it translates to the other staff members as well. Outstanding experience! You've been warned!

Children's section always well stocked and fun for the kids. Sometimes there's a volunteer reader and that's fine too.

Does this library have any study rooms? I am looking for a nice place to tutor wo interpreting others. Thanks in advance.

Being in such a pedestrian friendly semi-residential neighborhood across from a small dog park, Whole Foods and a short distance from many businesses on Ventura Blvd, Van Nuys Blvd and Hazeltine Avenue it's definitely a great one to pop into. I haven't been in since I don't even remember... I always seem to be passing by after hours or on a holiday, but finally returned with a brand new LAPL card and zest for books or rather some graphic novel research. I did a lot of browsing down several isles and managed to grab a free computer to look up a few things. Noting what was at this location, and those at other LA Valley libraries in the San Fernando Valley. Everything is clearly laid out, easy signs, cataloging and clean clear isles made for a smooth trip. I checked out with two books and got three full weeks before I had to bring them back. The Librarian who checked me out addressed me by my name as soon as she scanned my card. She was really warm and friendly. Returned my books via return box drop off - just left of the main doors a few days early #ReadingIsFundamental Some cool things to note are book donations are accepted here. Their story time for babies, toddlers and kids throughout the week. Additionally - LAPL Sherman Oaks has Adult Coloring on Thursdays (I'm so in) as well as tutoring on Tuesdays that entail: "Filling out forms, English conversation/reading/writing, job or school resumes and applications, studying for citizenship tests, and basic cell phone and computer use" - according to their website which is on a first come first serve basis. How cool is that!?! #TheMoreYouKnow #KnowledgeIsPower #SupportYourLocalLibrary

The layout and organization was really nice. Every section had it's own unique look. My favorite, and i think everyone's as well, is what seems to be a tree-like stand in the middle of the interior section of the bookstore. Once i was done admiring it's beauty, It was time for business. How many books can i justify getting!! I decided that i for sure wanted to get a book from a local author and some cool unique books that were unconventional. They had some books behind glass cases and some others that were mass printed in the 90s and a whole section for California based authors. Perfect. They also had many sections of some of my favorite books, books that are on my TBR and many many many books that were so tempting to get that seemed so good. I ended up getting 4 books for under $100. One of which is a book by a local author, and 3 others that were collectibles of some sort. I am very pleased with my purchase and believe the lovely lady that helped me check out agrees. When i come back to Cali, i will be coming back here for more cool books.

It's located off of Cahuenga Blvd & Chandler Blvd, with a small private parking lot out back and plenty of street parking around. I knew this bookstore was stacked but wow! The Iliad is literally stacked with books! From floor to ceiling, this place is packed with books every which way. Because of this and narrow aisles, it can get kind of tight in places but it's easy to maneuver around. They have practically every category/genre you can think of, but be prepared to take your time since it'll take a while to look through everything. There are some seats if you want to take a load off and there's a clean restroom near the back. The new and used books vary in price, but for the most part they're on the cheaper side. The employees were nice and they even have a couple of friendly cats that roam the store (so watch your step!). The moment you walk in the front door you're confronted with the fact that they have a lot of books on a lot of subjects. In fact, at this location, the moment you walk into the door, you find a gigantic pile of all kinds of books on all kinds of subjects that they're offering for very discounted prices. I've often wondered what would happen if you wanted a book on the very bottom of the pile, and if you pulled it out, everything may come flying. But, that's just part of the fun of shopping at this bookstore, you never know what adventure you're going to encounter. In terms of selection, they have books on pretty much any subject you can think of. In some ways, it's a little hard to find certain things in this bookstore due to the massive quantity of books they have all set up in long aisles. In some cases, what I find kind of fun/curious is the fact that perhaps they will have a sign telling you that a certain subject of books in a particular aisle, but, when you look down that aisle, you can find none of the books on that subject. Mostly, I believe, that's just because they've sold out of that particular subject matter. But, it does make for an interesting quest, because there's been a few times when I've looked around the shop and found books on that subject in a completely different section. Thus, the chaos of this book shop adds to the overall quest for that great piece of reading material. This bookshop focuses a lot on fiction and poetry. They really have a large collection by various authors from across all genres and across the globe. So, if you're looking for that really unique piece of fiction and or poetry, this book shop most likely will have it. Overall, ever since its inception, Iliad has been a great place to find books. Yes, it is kind of a chaotic/fun sort of a mess. But, that adds to the overall uniqueness of this business. Fun place to shop!
