I intentionally planned my 2 days in Denmark around this area, with my hotel and the sites I wanted to visit within walking distance. The current station building opened in 1911, with a major overhaul in 1980 including elevators, escalators and a new station concourse. It has 7 platforms and 13 tracks, making it the largest train station in Denmark. With 100,000 travelers per day, it is the second busiest in the country. Getting to it from the airport required taking the M2 line, transferring at Kongens Nytorv to the either the M3 or M4 line to get here. The journey took a little over 30 minutes, and the trains were relatively crowded on both the inbound and outbound. The cost was (30,00 DKK - $4.69 USD converted) for the one way. There are no gates of any sort, and I didn't see any security doing ticket checks. Read on-line that fines could be substantial. Since the trains to the airport run so frequently, didn't have a chance to admire/partake of the station. On my next longer visit, will linger a bit more.

It's lovely to buy sushi or other take away and something to drink and lay down on the grass a long the lakes watching city life go by. In Denmark it's legal to drink alcohol in public so if you see people with a bottle of wine laying in the grass, don't be alarmed. It's perfectly normal. You are also very close to the old neighborhood of Copenhagen K with beautiful old buildings in different colors with rose flowers growing in the walls. People sit out on the steps in the summer usually with a six pack of beers, people-watching and being outdoors is a big thing here in the summer. Outside the metro station is the big Forum hall. It's a hall for concerts, ice skating like Disney on ice etc. Forum is basically very close to all four major parts of Copenhagen. The west-Vesterbro, The north-Nørrebro, The east-Østerbro and City centre-København K There's a lot of parks and gardens around, tons of bars, cafés, restaurants and shops. So you better just start walking or rent a bike from the many bike rental places or s city bicycle from the stands. The bikes are white and you'll pay with your credit card and they can be dropped off at any of the other stands. They are electrical so you'll have to put them back in the right stand. The open space has a calm atmosphere, with a small garden in the middle and majestic historic buildings surrounding it, including the Royal Danish Theatre, Hotel D'Angleterre, and several high-end shops like Rolex. It's a convenient meeting point and a pleasant place to pause while exploring the city. There's even a small pub on the corner, perfect for an Aperol Spritz on a warm afternoon. I don't claim this the most beautiful place in the city, but it's nice to pass through.

You can tell the suspicious people they are the ones that are just "hanging out" looking like they have no where to go, or just walking un circles looking at you and everyone else and are not self directed toward their transportation or just following other people until they are noticed and they break off. I had to use this confusing station to get back to my hotel a few times but until I was on the train my anxiety level was up. Once on the train there were numerous security agents. Wish they had a law in Copenhagen that you can not loiter at or near train stations, you must always be directing yourself toward your transportation would make it a safer place. What is it about train stations in Europe that attracts suspicious people? PS. If you are from the US with a US credit card the ticket machines only take debit and coins for tickets. US credit cards require a signature and ID check and machines reject them.

There is very good signage in both English and Danish. And because it's in "downtown" København, the trains run often. Nørreport is not just S-train, but also serves the metro and main lines. It is actually the busiest railway station in all of Denmark. Even more so than the Central station. From here, you can catch the M1 and M2 of the metro, most of the S trains and even regional trains to Zealand and Sweden. There is a ton of bicycle parking at street level and yes, bicycles are allowed on the trains here (just not during rush hours). Nørreport is between Vesterport and Østerport stations. It is in Fare zone 1. There are bus connections at street level, too.

Metro comes every 10 minutes so you won't have too wait very long. Bella Center Station is on Metro Line M1 and in zone 3 which runs from Vanlose to Vestamager. It's location is centrally located near Cowell Convention Center, AC Hotel Bella Sky, and minutes away (on metro) to the city center, & "Fields Shopping Center" which is Scandinavia largest shopping center. You feel you have your own metro that takes you to your hotel and back out into the city. In the 6 days I was in Copenhagen, there were probably 1-3 people at the stop whenever I took it into downtown which is about 3 metro stops. Two metro stops past the AC Bella Hotel in the other direction is a huge shopping gallery where you can buy anything from is (Danish for ice cream or the pastry) to nuts. Visits: Many. Tip: You can buy, daily or weekly metro passes at CPH right after you pick up luggage on your right and before you get to the train stations into the city. Each station has automated ticketrons.

The Metros run smarter, efficient and the subways are spotless! The majority of stations I visited all had elevator access and escalators. ( New York, are you there?) Here are some highlights: 1. Easy to use, 4 lines M1.M2.M3.M4 2. Inspectors/DSB on train asking you for your ticket to prevent fare invasion 3. Public restrooms clean and maintained. Some are free, some you pay which makes sense. Citizens who want a restroom, imo, contribute to keep it sparkling 4. Rules: Copenhagen is a bike city, thus, there are train rules; no bikes on train between 7am-9am. If you ride with bike there are bike cars and you buy a bike metro ticket ( New York, still there) 5. Ticket machines where you can buy different fare options and kiosks to check in 6. Korbenhaven H or aka Central station; so commuter friendly! All I can say is tak ( thank you) to Copenhagen for making my trip so easy to get around!

The British Tube, NYC subways and BART/MUNI have a lot to aspire to when it comes to Metro systems. The Danes know how to get it done right. The Metro here runs on time, and no drivers for the trains, which is pretty neat. Every station has digitized schedules so you know when the trains are running. And they are on time. You can either buy one trip tickets or look at options for 12 hours or longer. And you can also get a City Pass which gives you access to the metro and buses up to 120 hours. Just check on the DSB website for your needs and the system is self explanatory. What I love about Denmark is that while everyone usually speaks Danish, there is always an English option. Every single website I went to related to my Denmark travels had an English option. That's pretty amazing. The one important thing to note is that while you can't really scan your passes to get into the metro, don't be fooled to think that DSB authorities are not checking fares. I traveled to the airport a few times and a few times, attendants were strictly checking fare. In fact, my train ride for the last time to CPH airport, my fare was checked twice. I read some other reviews written here and if you don't have proper fare, you will get a fine for hundreds in DKKs, so totally not worth taking a risk at all. The trains are very clean, well run, stations also clean and signage/schedule are all easily understandable. This is the gold standard when it comes to Metro systems.

I like to use this metro station when I'm going to the airport because the zone is 3 and then I only need to pay for 2 zones (3 and 4) apart from if I take the metro from Lergravsparken in zone 1. The station is very close to the beach as well. Get out here to experience the sea breeze, since this side of the beach is rather empty compared to those next to Amager Strand metro, I like it the best.
