It is with absolutely no shame that I share I ate more ensaimadas during my 1-week trip to Spain…read morethan I've had in the last 10 years of my life. (As a Filipino, that's saying a lot.) Absolutely loved trying the ensaimadas from the island it was birthed from (Mallorca), and hands down my favorite one that I tried from both Barcelona and Mallorca were from Forn des Teatre. Funny, I actually didn't find this biz on yelp due to the low # of reviews; I was just attracted to the bakery due to its lovely HUGE ensaimada rolls on display!
As it was morning, the outdoor cafe wasn't open but folks were just coming in to grab and go. By all means if you come here, please you MUST try the **ensaimada de crema** (might also be called "ensaimadeta")! It was different from others I've tried, it's not just a spiral of creme but it was all pooled into the center. I think I loved it so much because it was rich and had a thick, creamy texture with a nice orangey-zest taste to it. Absolutely loved it, I haven't tasted anything like it before!
