Since it is a deli the food is displayed so you can just point at what you want. You can also choose the amount, this is good for experimentation. Along with being traditional, the food is decently priced. It's also centrally located near the historical city hall. There is outdoor seating on picnic tables, but you can take it to go. My boyfriend had fleischkäse which I can only describe as a slice of bologna -loaf. It is served warm and I hear sometimes with an egg. He had it with fried potatoes. I had a Kalbsfrickadellen. It was a well seasoned fried meatball. It was appetizing and sastisfieng. Not too strange. The potato salad was on the the sweet side. Both dishes were served with a dollop of mustard.

Loved stopping at Kleinmakthalle Food Hall on our walking tour of Frankfurt…read more It is nice that our guide gave us a decent amount of time to explore the food market. Sampled a lot of different foods. Cheeses with truffles. Stuffed olives. Pickles. Pesto. Small squares of bread covered with a thin layer on jam.,Local honey. The pastries and breads looked so good. We don't eat pork, but there were so many types of salami and sausages. There is also a fish market. We ended up trying several types of honey. The market dates back to the 1890s when it was housed in an iron and glass domed building. That building was destroyed when the allies firestorm bombed Frankfurt in March 1944. The market reopened in 1954. Many sellers have sold goods and produce at the market from generation to generation. A great place to explore while In Frankfurt.

This is more of a produce and meats market than a prepared foods market. It's a good one-stop shop…read morefor local gifts, such as cured sausages, cheeses, jams, flowers, and chocolates. I have been to many other European markets, and found the selection here to be lackluster, and the prices to be high. There is an upstairs seating area that overlooks the market hall if you would like a break to people-watch. I still enjoy walking through the aisles to see what is new and what is out for sampling, but likely would not purchase much.
