I took my son here for a specific cut. It was a very friendly staff. We were paired up with Julius…read moreand it was a great experience. He was able to make my kid comfortable. Most importantly, Julius was able to execute the cut my son wanted. I recommend this place for those who are nearby give them a try.

Not the worst haircut I've ever had, then again the worst was a friend with no experience. This…read morewasn't much better than that. Kid (Julius) with braces buzzed my head. I tired to make it easy for him. Asked for a number 4 buzz all around (usually cheap). Ended up having long hairs I had to cut my self at home. Had people at work cut hairs in the back too because they found a bunch of stragglers. It was just weird. Plus when I went to pay the business, he told me to Zelle his mom's number.... Not sure if the business knows he's asking for Zelle to his mom instead of taking the cash I brought for the business. Just a weird experience all around. Also $50 is crazy for a simple buzz cut. Won't see me in there again. Weirdest barbershop I've ever been to. Edit: Owner responded and didn't address the issue about the messed up buzz cut that left me with random long hairs in the front and back. Unsure why he decided to ignore that and double down, when he had the chance to fix the situation and at least ask if I'd like to come back to get it fixed. Interesting business tactic. I don't think I painted an unfair picture, I told the truth. The barber was a nice kid, but the shop has no prices listed, and the cut came out botched. Hard to say that's an unfair description. I think the comments from the owner on the bad reviews paint a perfect picture of the quality of shop this is.

Private tattoo artist in one of these suites in this location, Edward Rodriguez (Insta:…read moreedhundreds_tattoos) was completely unprofessional by making me wait only for him to buy alcoholic canned Margaritas nearby. He mentioned that he normally doesn't drink during appointments except with me just because he was "stressed" as if it's a valid excuse. He even offered one to me but I kept denying since I'm the one getting tattooed with more blood thinning risks. My only regret is not walking out of this risky and unprofessional atmosphere ASAP without him getting a chance to touch my arm. Since my arm already got touched and tattooed with a completely messed up blue butterfly, I'm now doing laser tattoo removal, which will be a 2 year commitment due to the tattoo being too dark with dullness and not coming out the way I wanted it with more vibrancy expected. My butterfly even got infected and bruised right after it was done, which left a visible distortion in the middle of the butterfly. Next time, I'm definitely taking my business elsewhere to a more reputable tattoo artist who absolutely doesn't drink on the job. Shame on him, especially when dealing with needles! My only regret is not realizing sooner. I felt used all because of my naivety that time.

Today we drove to Brea for lunch…read more When we arrived at the restaurant, next door we discovered that Hammer & Nails has walk-in hair services. We decided to check it out the front desk receptionists was very courteous and helpful. CMR opted for a haircut, which I don't particularly enjoy as I am fond of his long hair. Sadly this is a ritual he follows every few years after his hair grows out he cuts it all out. Given CMR's wavy hair with considerable volume, we seek out professionals experienced in handling diverse hair types. This being our 1st visit, I was impressed with the exceptional service provided by JC. The ambiance is relaxed, reminiscent of the classic ICONIC Marlboro Man style. Although Hammer & Nails is approximately 30 minutes from our house, I anticipate CMR will be making the trip to visit JC's skilled hair services.

Unfortunately, I don't recall any particular person's name working at this location; thus my review…read moreis of the location as a whole. I first found Hammer and Nails in my hometown of Brea purely by happenstance (and in effort to find another place for a good haircut, perhaps dabble in pedicures, besides Sport Clips). Curiosity drew me into this establishment, but by golly, it was the experience that had me stay until I eventually couldn't. From the moment I first walked in, I was blown away by the aesthetic-- definitely tailored towards guys. What's more, for my first visit, was offered a complimentary beverage (my go-to was always a woodford reserve whiskey on the rocks-- puts one at ease during a nice cut). Be it a haircut, a mani-pedi (shoutout to the Jack Hammer combo) or even a simple facial treatment, this place rocks in terms of quality, service and attention to detail. Add to that some TVs to view your shows (shoutout to the mani-pedi crew; I remember at one point you were even offered headphones to listen to TV while getting work done), and this place is worth its weight in gold in terms of what they charge (even if the memberships had a slight increase in price during my time there). In fact, it was so good that I even brought my girlfriend along for her mani-pedi (she absolutely loved it). Definitely put a smile on my face. If I did have to criticize one thing about Hammer and Nails, it wouldn't be about this location (to be fair, I always scheduled my appointments here), but about the availability of locations in general. The memberships provided are perfect (if a bit costly) in what they provide-- if you are to remain in SoCal (or just so happen to cross paths with a location across the nation). Unfortunately, it is with this critique that I had to cancel my membership; while the service is stellar, and the membership transferable for use across the nation for any of the brand's locations, there is simply no presence of the brand in MN at the time of writing. Had there been, I may have kept my membership indefinitely. A weakness to be sure, but a testament to the brand's potential overall. If I do ever make any return trips to CA in the future (and my hair is running long), I'll definitely stop by just for old times sake. Cheers, guys, and take care!
