I showed him some of my must have pictures and he in turned suggested a location - his hometown, Lake Forest. When my fiancee and I got to the quaint downtown area, we fell in love. It was a hot August day, but most of the time we were able to find shade. Our first location was the train station which was adorable. A couple of my must have shots were there, and we executed them with ease from Alex's direction. Then we moved onto the downtown center taking some pictures in the sun and the grass. Finally took some more urban shots at a really cute farmer's market (which happened to be in an alley), against brick wall, on staircases, and finally sitting on the street (we had someone help us with the oncoming traffic). He was really patient with us, plus we threw ideas off one another - it was awesome. I loved his eye to detail as well as his creativity. For Russian photographers he is pretty middle-of-the-road price-wise, which is much cheaper then typical american photographers. He also works ALL DAY (from getting dressed in the AM to about midnight) for that price. Quality of Photos: Solid 3 star. Nothing special but didn't ruin my day. Good group shots, clear images. Unless he has changed up his style in the last several years, I would not expect anything especially creative or artistic. Personality/ease of working with him: Prior to the wedding and on the day of the wedding, perfect 5 star. Came on time, easy to reach, etc. AFTER the wedding, 2 stars would be generous. My biggest problem with him and the main reason I would recommend my friends to work with someone else was the business ethic after the wedding was over. He mislead us about what was included in the cost of the package (even though we made it quite clear as to what we were expecting) leading us to incur unexpected costs for our photos. Even in the attempts to resolve the issue, the "deal" we would agree upon would change after we have agreed upon it. I sorely regret not putting EVERY detail in writing and making him sign it.

We have one picture from the wedding that may be the best photo from a wedding that I have ever seen. It was a spontaneous shot. Apparently, Carlos found an elevated location from which to shoot a phot of the bride and groom dancing -- her skirt flowing around her and perfectly framing the couple. Dazzling.
