They needed to install pipes thru my sewing room and several other rooms: they did nothing to protect existing surfaces, nor did they bother to tell me (I was working in my home office during install, it would have been easy for me to come down and cover my stuff). I spent much more time after they left, cleaning after them , than I'd have spent covering my things in advance. Almost all contractors I've worked with address protecting existing surfaces in advance of job, so I didn't think I needed to ask about it.
