I give 'em credit - these guys lead the way on local gas prices. I was conscientiously watching gas prices driving through the peninsula just for familiarity if nothing else. On 10-13-2022, this place had the lowest price period, at $3.699/gal for 87 regular, and for a major brand to boot. On the following day, 10-14-2022, I noticed several stations in a multi-mile radius dropped their prices by about 10 cpg to match, woot woot. $3.699/gal was still holding though as lowest in the vicinity. Kudos, Parv J, kudos. I'll visit again sometime.

Denny's Super Valu was exactly what we were looking for. The employees were helpful in directing us to certain food, and it was a pleasant experience for us too. The store is full of charm and value - and most importantly, local foods! Of course we were looking for cheese curds and Denny's Super Valu had quite the selection. Cheddar and white - and a mix, plus others with seasonings and such... and local! We already had our smoked salmon from Havegard's and the mix of Cheddar and white looked most appealing. We saw some other cruisers looking for WI cheese curds and pointed out the great varieties. We weren't the only ones looking for local cheese goodness! No indeed, as when we were back onboard the ship we found some new friends had grown up with cheese curds and were wishing they had found Denny's Super Valu as well. Yep, we DID share our cheese curds and even some of the smoked salmon. The ship's food was fabulous, but the cheese curds and smoked salmon were worthy of a scouting trip in lovely Algoma! We always check out the baking aisle - and were so tempted at the boxed whipped frosting. You all have Jello sugar free pudding that is to be cooked - and that did come home with us. The candy aisle is also a gotta check it out, and I found a special bag of black licorice for a new friend who LOVES it - and the rewards for it were beyond belief. Inside it had a nice vintage flair with another old school wood shingled roof on the left end of the shop with Cheese and Gifts signage over it, which I suspect used to house a cheese or deli area back in the day, but while we were there it was another area for liquor, which had a selection of single serving bottles for purchase. The employee was friendly, and we walked away with a bottle of Bogle Cabernet for $11.99, which was an OK deal. A full selection of beer, wine, and liquor is available. It's a unique store with a good cozy feel, not your typical strip mall liquor store.
