Being 2:30 am, and needing gas and a pitstop; this was about the only option available, before returning to the toll road. Overall the facility was a decent choice. Though presenting as a bit of a sketchy location (especially, that time of night); the store and restrooms were clean enough. And, the staff were friendly and attentive. All and all, this establishment served its purpose for our needs.

Basically what I am saying is Turkey Hill is a rare occurrence in southwestern Pennsylvania, but because of the Turnpike, Somerset is fortunate enough to have one. The lot just happens to be located at a fairly good spot in terms of the Turnpike. It literally can be either your first or last stop when in Somerset. As far as gas prices they are competitive with other gas stations in the area. Inside, it feels a little bland and jam packed. When I say bland I mean there is nothing flashy in here, it feels like things are just thrown in as place keepers. It somewhat feels unfinished. The jam packed part comes from how things are set up. The register only offers a small space to stand. At least the one they used when I was in here. The biggest thing about here is the noise level. Yes, it can be quiet, but only as quiet as the employees allow it to be. I understand about having a conversation, but when you are screaming it across the store, it's a little off putting for your customers. I ended up leaving here with a headache and the few items I selected from the store.

This has always been a constant when travelling on US 219. When you come upon this spot you know…read moreyou are just outside Somerset and the Turnpike is not far away. It is kind of like an oasis when travelling in this area of Pennsylvania. This sits on a fairly big piece of land, but somehow still feels small. Maybe that is because many people stop here to get gas or pick a forgotten item at home. My most recent visit here I observed many people coming out with items like milk and bread. You may end up paying a bit more than at your neighborhood grocery store, but I don't think many people would mind due to the fact that you are saving yourself a trip and some hassle. As far as gas prices, they are reasonable and expected for the area. Honestly I feel like this spot could charge whatever it wanted. They do not have any immediate competition nearby. It is one of the first exits to Somerset that offers gas. And people will come here regardless of that. Not sure who supplies the gas, but it seems to be fairly good with mileage. For a roadside stop, definitely fills the need.

The deer blood I had in my truck was not coming out as easy as expected. I traveled over 20 miles to come to what I thought was a highly recommended gas station/ car wash but I was quite disappointed. Also there was a small fire out by the gas pumps didn't seem too safe but other then that food was great and people were fantastic!

My story is crazy. It starts at 5:10pm when I left Cleveland Ohio. I was stranded about 300 miles…read morefrom home and I was about 300 miles away from my destination where I stopped at the turkey hill gas station to refuel, when pump #5 wasn't working I re-entered my Jeep to move to another pump, this is where I find out my Jeep decides it's time for a break. I turned the key and no click but the radio, interior & exterior as well as the windows still functioned normally. I knew it wasn't the battery, it's not that old but I checked it anyway and still called for a jump after asking multiple people who came to get gas. With no success I waited 40 minutes for someone from progressive to help, another 35 minutes and $114 lighter my Jeep was still functioning in the same manner. I called a few tow truck companies but I was getting the voice message, I assumed they were all closed since now it's 11:45 at this point. The only company I believed was opened was in Johnstown, because they answered but the man on the phone said try herring motors INC again. They arrived in 10 minutes and the drive was super nice also recommended that I go to Blough's automotive, where he dropped me and my Jeep off in the parking lot where I slept until I heard a car startup next to me. I called, the man said we're actually closed but give me a minute. He came outside opened the hood of my Jeep waved his magic wind and said "that should do it, give it a shot" lmao I tried it, nothing, he said "hang on, try it now" I guess he waved his hands the wrong way the first time, because my Jeep started right up!! He stated that my starter cable somehow shook loose and if it happens again it's most like that cable. He got my Jeep started in 30 seconds. I laughed in disbelief and asked well how much do I owe you, he said nothing just stay awake on the road and get home safe. So I want to thank everyone who helped me out the guy from progressive for trying, herring motor and Blough's automotive

And I mean…read moresmall-one client walked in (the owner and him were on a first name basis) to schedule an oil change and he was penned in on a big paper calendar at the front desk. I had a scary issue on a windy incline of the PA turnpike in the rain. Needless to say, when the tow truck finally came, I was a bit of a mess. They took me to Blough's who immediately showered love upon my pooch and let him run around and enjoy the reception area. There's lots of fun memorabilia on the walls and old gas pumps to check out (and sniff!). Where they really won me over was the kindness of everyone who worked there. I waited several hours while they attempted to replicate the problem on my camper van over and over - but of course, it was running just fine now! They finally felt comfortable letting me on my merry away and didn't charge me a dime for their time or diagnostics. I was happy to have broken down near such a friendly place.
