It was on the corner where I used to work (kind of) and used to live (nearby), and it featured prominently in a major incident. I was involved in a car crash last time my mother was here... I wasn't driving. My mother will be visiting this summer for the first time since this crash actually. We had a couple of people in the back of the car who were riding in, basically, the SUV trunk, illegally. Thankfully they weren't injured, but the cops were coming, so they had to hide out somewhere and it was midwinter and way below freezing. This gas station allowed the 2 in the trunk to hide out until the cops came and went, and we appreciated that because all kinds of people could have gotten in all kinds of trouble otherwise. And no I'm not worried about Yelp snitches... do whatever you want and I hope it helps you sleep at night knowing what kind of crap you reap on other people. :) But thank you to the wonderful employees here for helping us out, and even though your gas is usually too expensive as is your convenient store, you get a solid 4 for that. One of the worst locations I've ever been to. The outside credit card readers almost never work, so…read morethey force you to go inside, and when you have to go in to see a cashier, they barely can understand what you're asking for!! The last straw for me was, I had to go in and get gas, and the cashier was honestly comparing smells of blunts/single cigars with the customer in front of me !! She might've been flirting with the customer in front of me because she was a young girl and the guy was a young Amazon driver. The guy can see a line was forming, and he kindly stepped aside with his last word saying "you should try the smell of Jasmine", I go to ask for my gas and the cashier turns around looks for the blunt for a minute, and starts to smell it and makes me wait! An older cashier comes over and whispers in her ear or something, and she says loudly "what did I do wrong"... Some people aren't cut out to be cashiers- If you're thinking of this place, just know there are three other gas stations, all with cheaper stuff and either direction, just avoid this place

Matty's food mart is truly dated by todays standards. Looking past the decor, you have your diner and convenience store items. There's even a sitting area for you to enjoy the food.

I give it a neutral 3-star rating although when I'm about to run out of gas on the 290 it's a lot more than that.

The gas prices here were average which was nice, but what sealed the deal for me was the staff here. The station attendant was the most polite person we had interacted with in a while and before we left she had put a few smiles on our faces. The bathrooms here were clean, the convenience store was large and the coffee here was actually tasty. In the end this would have been just an average station but the employee was phenomenal.

The gas prices are a little higher than average, but it's open fairly late, moreso than most of the gas stations in these parts, so I'd often end up filling up here after late games (after driving to Sportsplex with an empty tank of gas because people I shared the car with always left it that way). It's conveniently located near BK and Payne's Restaurant, right on Payne. I'd love to tell you more about it but I have a Payne in my writing hand.

The gas is usually either mid-price or slightly higher. I've purchased from here a few times over the years, including once recently when I also went inside and picked up a soda and candy for one of my BFFs that I was with. Very friendly service, typical gas station prices, and it has the feel of a little shop that is being run by a little family, which I appreciate and support. In any case, there are much worse places to pump your gas in these parts, and I like this station and the people working here.
