Worth a try. Shoes carry meaning and our weight, protect us, serve us... they are personal reminders of where we've been...and then we throw them out. Really... I hesitate before passing them on, either to recycling or the waste bin. We are so fortunate to live in the day of less expensive shoes, and the internet where you can buy almost anything. I love my shoes. Did I mention that I love my shoes? So... I go to pick up my repaired shoes, and he did a stellar job on the 2 out of 3 pairs... the others, he even told me... he'd try... but 'they had lived their time' he said. He thought all of them had. My gosh, people, I felt bad to have wasted his time with any of them, and even when I insisted on paying, he said no and turned to another client. I don't expect to have something for free, really, ever. What a blessing. This person is one of the very few who are left on the planet repairing shoes. She explained the layout of the store, invited us to browse, and struck the perfect balance between giving us space to look and being available whenever we had questions. We never felt pressured, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Before coming in, we had gone through a disappointing experience with a big-box jeweler out of San Antonio. We waited six months for a custom 25th anniversary ring to be built, only to receive a final piece that was crooked and poorly made. After that, we were very discouraged about starting the process over, so we decided to search rings styles online in hopes of finding something ready-made. I came upon a beautiful semi-mount in an online supplier's catalog, but wasn't sure if I could even find a jeweler who had access to that manufacturer. A few days later, we walked into Diamonds of Kerrville on our way to San Antonio (without any expectations, just sheer curiosity). We spotted a stunning cluster diamond ring in one of the cases and decided to purchase it for when we travel (SCORE!). While getting sized for that piece, I happened to show Dara the anniversary ring design I saved on my phone, but didn't say the name of the manufacturer. I expressed my anxiety about trying to find another jeweler that could create something like what I envisioned. She offered to check their catalog to try and find something similar to the picture I had (I said "sure, why not")... and to my surprise, it was the EXACT SAME SUPPLIER. This is too good to be true! So now, not only can we order the VERY ring I fell in love with, but we get to work with this amazing, friendly and knowledgable company... right in our home-town. Their stellar customer service made the experience even better! Martin and Sherrie were amazing and answered all my questions about the design process (plus I got a very informative crash course on stones, settings, appraisals, and practical tips for day-to-day wear). This was our first purchase from Diamonds of Kerrville, but it definitely won't be our last. I'll be sure to update my review with photos once my anniversary ring is finished! I wanted my hubby's business logo on one side and his and his employee's names/initials on the other (I bought the Yeti's myself and brought them in to be etched). I am super happy with the end product and everyone I have corresponded with here has been very nice. My beef is the poor communication. I"m guessing this is a new and upcoming business? And I understand they were very busy around the holidays, but I would estimate 8 times out of ten that I called them I got a voicemail, left a message and did not get a prompt reply.This place is located in Dripping Springs, so, not so easy just to drive out there to talk to someone. Also, not easy to drive all the way out there to see if your product is ready on Dec 23rd when they won't respond to your messages and confirm that it is indeed done and ready. They didn't inspire a lot of confidence again with the email system. After several attempts at sending them the proper size of biz logo for the etching (it took the 3rd attempt for them to be specific with the file size needed), they sent me a proof that I immediately ok'ed and they responded with a "great, we'll get your order started!". Almost TWO WEEKS later I get an email asking if I'd looked at the proof they'd sent and could I OK it? Uh.....and this on the day they estimated my Yeti's to be done, not just getting started. Like I said, I know it's the holidaze and I really do love the end product, but the process was fairly stressful. I just think they need to work out those kinks and they'd be great!
