I am that nightmare customer. The kind of guy who's so impossibly picky that barbers update their resumes mid-haircut. My last barber moved 50 miles away, I still drove to him every 3 weeks like I was in a long-distance relationship. But between LA level traffic and his religious refusal to work Sundays, I had to face the ultimate grown-up challenge: find a new barber. I tried a few. And by "tried," I mean I let three licensed professionals ruin my head like they were practicing on a potato. Do they hand out barber licenses in cereal boxes now? Is there a black market for these things? Then, two friends pointed me to Khaled at YZ's. I was skeptical. Months went by. But eventually, I walked in... and holy falafel, this Syrian wizard delivered. The man has golden hands, like if King Midas went to barber school in Damascus. He listens, he asks, he cuts with the precision of a brain surgeon who also moonlights as a poet. The shop? Clean. The vibe? Immaculate. The fade? So perfect it could make grown men weep in gratitude. Once again, the Syrians prove: if they do something, they don't just do it, they dominate.

We love Shelly (and Norman)!…read more She is attentive, yet laid back. Good with conversation, and so is her fellow barber, Norman. Yet, as wonderful as they are, personally, they truly love what they do. Just tell them what you want, and they are happy to oblige. My husband prefers their business to all other salons. Their clips range from $3 for a beard trim, to $7 for the full monty. Of course, if you want to go all out, it may be as much as $14, but with the quality, friendship and respect, it is well worth it. This little neighborhood barber shop is a rare find. You might have to wait in line for your turn, but it is well worth the wait.

4.5 Guaranteed that…read moreunless you go looking for this place, you'll never find it. Once I looked up the address, I thought 'I've never noticed a barbershop on Gallatin around there.' The reason why I'd never noticed it is because you can't see it from the street. You need to pull in to the parking lot of the dearly departed Piggly Wiggly and there you'll see it, behind Las Fiestas. Jordan's is a small shop but there's skill in those wood paneled walls. The fella who cut my hair wasn't Jordan, but Norman. Norman's a fun, chatty fellow with a ton of talent with clippers and scissors and an eye on what's best for your head/face. When I arrived, there was a small line waiting for his services and I was extremely impressed with his ability to service the patrons in a timely but attentive manner. He didn't rush through everyone and everyone looked loads better getting up from his chair than they did when they sat down but he also respected everyone's time... which is an art that can be lost in many barbershops. Despite being my first time at the rodeo, I was treated with respect, asked questions and lead to make good decisions. By the time I was almost finished, I told him to decide what was best for my head/face. Norman always asked my opinion but he led me to the right decision, even going so far as to tell me that he really wanted to do a few certain things I was hemming and hawing over (he was right to do them). All the while, we had conversation that was kept moving by his buddy. Barbershops can sometimes be tough places to break in. If you're not a regular, you can feel it. From the minute I walked in the door, I was welcomed and felt welcomed. That's a big deal. Barbershops can be intimidating. I sat down with a busted head/face and sat back up looking pretty. I am always okay with that. The price for beauty? $14. Tip the man because you're not finding many places that will do what he does for that price. Oh, and when I left, I wasn't covered in hair. I don't know how he did it but my forehead, collar and pillow (when I woke up this morning) were free of hair. Again, this isn't the norm. I've been getting haircuts for [redacted] years. Errant hairs are a part of the process. Not this time, it wasn't. Color me impressed. Norman knows what he's doing. He's a master barber (that means lots of schooling and lots of years) and it shows. I'll be back. I hope to be a regular.

Summary: The booking process with GueroFadez GueroFadez at Elusive Studio Barbershop confusing and…read morepoorly managed. I booked an appointment, received a confirmation, and planned my morning around it--only to be told later that the appointment couldn't be honored due to a scheduling policy that wasn't clearly communicated during booking. This experience wasted my time and left me scrambling to find another barber. I was excited to try out GueroFadez at Elusive Studio Barbershop as I'm new to the area and was looking for a reliable barber. Unfortunately, my experience was frustrating due to issues with the booking process. I booked an appointment through the Booksy app, received an automatic confirmation, and planned my morning around it. However, I was later informed via text that the barber doesn't take haircut appointments on Mondays, even though the app allowed me to book and confirmed the appointment. Here's the problem: when you click "Book Now" on the app, it shows you the available schedule for appointments, but it doesn't include the note about "no haircuts on Mondays." That note is only visible if you go back to the barber's 'about me' pae and then click on 'details', which makes no sense. Why would anyone go back to check the schedule after already seeing availability and booking an appointment? This is a major flaw in the booking process and creates unnecessary confusion for clients. To make matters worse, I received a message saying that GueroFadez had confirmed my appointment. However, when I brought this up, he explained that the confirmation is automatic and not something he personally reviews. This makes the confirmation completely meaningless. A confirmation should mean that someone has looked at the booking, verified availability, and approved it--not just an automated message that gives clients false confidence. If the confirmation doesn't mean anything, why send it at all? When I brought these issues up, the barber explained that the booking software is out of their control. However, as a business owner, the choice of booking software and how it's managed is ultimately their responsibility. If this issue happens often enough to require multiple warnings, it's a sign that the system needs to be fixed. I appreciate the apology, but this experience left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I wasted my morning and was left scrambling to find another barber. I hope GueroFadez and Elusive Studio Barbershop take steps to improve the booking process to avoid inconveniencing future clients.
