Fine, very straight hair is always tricky to deal with a lot of hairdressers just try and make it bigger. Doesn't work. With fine hair, if the fringe goes a bit wrong then there is no going back, thinning or tinkering. It needs to be razor straight. So. I couldn't see anymore. I needed a trim. I rang some of the bigger names and some of them refused to trim it, even if I paid, if I hadn't had my hair cut there. Eventually, I gave up, wandered across the road and walked into the first hairdressers I could find. Hair Lounge was a pleasant surprise. It doesn't look much from outside, but inside it is plush and the staff are friendly. I tentatively asked if someone could do my fringe, even though I didn't have my hair cut there, and they were more than happy. I only waited a few minutes and a lovely chap came and got me. He cut my fringe, to my specifications (I know, a hairdresser that listens!) and did it all with a smile. I asked who to pay, and he tried to say there was no charge - so I left a tip. I was asked if I wore my hair up often, I replied yes as I work in both a school and in a pub and advised only to have a half head of highlights opposed to a full head. The colour i was given was awful, I had gone from liight brown with dark blonde highlights to BLEACH blonde will visible roots about an inch wide which looks darker than the roots I walked in there with. as for the half head of highlights advice I shouldn't have listened! I had a panel of brown hair underneath the bright blonde. When I went to complain the following day all I got was "I'm really sorry! I feel so bad now" and " I still think it looks nice". funnily enough there was only 1 lady in there at the time and she had also come back because she was unhappy with her colour. appauling! AVOID!

To my mind, anyway. It was only when I visited the other salon on City Road that I realised that this must also be a hairdressers. While I tend to stick to the same stylist when I like what they done, I have swapped to this salon on the basis that it's not as busy, easier to park and it's much more pleasant away from the bustle of City Road. It's also slightly cheaper (by a few pounds) and open for more hours. The stylists are just as talented as they are on City Road, and I'm really not sure why it's cheaper as this doesn't reflect the standard of their work at all.

The salon was very helpful and offered another stylist to do my hair at the same time my appointment was!! I now have my hair done with Robbie and he is amazing! Changing from blonde to brown was scary but I will never go back as it looks amazing and have had many compliments! If I am going out I go to the salon and have Robbie put my hair up! Curled and pinned up, it looks amazing and makes my hair feeling fuller and I am even asked how much of it is extensions :) (none of it is). Highly recommend this Salon! (And highly recommend Robbie)!
