I was glad to see a local shop that caters to both men AND women. There are a few amazing barbers but our favorites are Mario and Ekow. They've been cutting my boys (age 8 and 5) hair since they each were about 2 years old. Malinda does amazing eye lash extensions. Now this place is a one stop shop! Mommy gets her lashes done, boys get their hair cut, and we are good to go. They offer many of their services here. Since we cut my sons locs it was hard to find a barber who would cut his hair the way we liked. Derrick has been a Godsend. We've had two appointments with him and every time my son gets out the chair he walks a little taller. That says a lot about the cut when you feel how you look especially with a 6 year old! We got a recommendation to go here and we are so glad we brought our kiddo to Kuts and Queens for his cut! This place is easy to get too and it's clean and comfortable. Mario is wonderful at what he does and the conversation was great while he cut our kid's hair. He took his time and you can tell he knows what he's doing. For a men's cut, this is the spot! After being burned by other barber shops in the area, I found Kuts&Queens on Yelp. I'm so glad I worked up the courage to try a new spot. Called in initially for Mario since I saw all his praise on other reviews, but I also needed a cut asap so I was referred to Randy. My man Randy gets down. If not Mario, I recommend Randy. Mario is more than a barber. Dude's a magician. I've been getting my hair cut by him for awhile and he knows how to get it just right. Shop (5/5) The shop is clean. Most of the stuff looks brand new and they keep it fresh. The people are friendly. You have to wait, but there is a place to sit and a t.v to watch. Sometimes there is even music going to help everyone chill out. Service (5/5) The service is fresh. Some advice "Make your appointments and know when you're going to need a cut." Even when I make appointments, it's easy because Mario has been flexible. He knows when I NEED the cut and it's IMPORTANT, but whenever I'm not fresh it's not because of the cut... it's because god made my face that way haha. Price (5/5) The price is very reasonable when you consider the quality of the cut. I've gone to high-end stylists at fancy places that charged me 100 bucks a cut because I thought that's what I "needed" due to the fact that I want my hair long and my fades clean. Background: This review is for the Barbershop. I had a negative experience a few days ago and was not going to post this review originally until a Yelp notification popped up asking for a review, so I felt compelled. Now, the reason I wasn't going to post a review was because this is the second time that I've had this happen to me (with the first incident occurring only a couple months ago). I felt a sort of, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". With that said I hope this review helps at least one person avoid what I fell into. Review: Quite possibly the worst barber experience I have ever had. Although, the first time this happened to me was only couple months ago (a different barbershop that also had great reviews). That's actually saying a lot seeing as I have had my hair cut every two weeks for the last twenty years and have had my fair share of bad barber experiences. Maybe it's not them that's the problem and perhaps it's me? Read on... I normally go to Snippz, which is not too far down the way in Chino Hills, however the wait was going to be too long. So I decided to come here as I was in the area and it had good reviews. I walked in and saw three barbers all giving a haircut, with no people waiting. They were all friendly and one of them who was just cleaning up a neck line said he would take care of me next. Awesome. I was waiting for maybe 5 minutes and I was up. The big guy "D" from the 3rd chair on the right calls me up and I'm in the chair. Quick explanation of what I want (medium skin fade and leave the top), keep in mind my hair was just cut the same way two weeks ago so there's not much to cut. I noticed after about thirty minutes that he was going over the same fade lines that he had started with. Now, when it comes to fades I know that you don't want them done too fast and sometimes attentive barbers will take their time and go over things again to make sure they're perfect. As my hair is being cut I notice the barber next to us is watching my barber doing the fade. Even stopped a few times from cutting his clients hair. I put two and two together and come to the conclusion that my barber is new. About 45 minutes in, another barber walks by and stays there telling my barber exactly what number clips to use and where they should land. He was there for about 30 minutes as the whole fade was essentially redone. Finally after about an hour and a half in the chair he cleans me up and hands me a mirror. I see a decent fade that is uneven from one side to the other. At this point I didn't care to mention it. He said it would be $25, and I tipped him $5. He then gave me his business card and told me to call next time to book an appointment. After it feeling like an eternity, I walk out of the front door, look at my phone and saw that I had been there for an hour and forty five minutes total. My haircut normally takes thirty-ish minutes, which usually includes a slight trim on the top, and always looks better than it came out. Now, I understand the man can cut decent hair with some help. No harm against that. But the fact that it took an hour and a half, coupled with no warning that he is an "apprentice" barber (per his Instagram page), that is just bad for business. What I don't understand is how they can allow him to cut hair in a professional barber establishment, without fair warning. Maybe that's the new industry standard? Who knows. Is it my fault for not speaking up and asking for a new barber halfway through? Maybe. It's just not something I'd expect at a barbershop that charges $25 for fades. A premium price tag should be justified with a premium haircut. I've had better fades in shorter time at $12 places. Sorry, but it's true. Total back fire trying to save time by coming here. I will be sure to book my appointments for the next year with my barber. Be aware if going to him that you will be in that chair for what will feel like an eternity. read more
