I was a bit reluctant to go as it only had one review and didn't have an online store but I still went just to check it out. The place is a bit small but nonetheless a gem. The jewelry was incredibly unique and high quality. It was a little on the more expensive side (as I am a kid) but I found I was completely willing to buy as a lot of the stuff seemed to be one of a kind, or at least something I wouldn't find in my country. The clerks were amazing and really helpful. I'm usually very nervous around salespeople but I was surprised at how comfortable I felt talking to them and asking about some of their jewelry. In the end, I left with a little less money in my wallet but was ecstatic at my purchase. I highly recommend this place if you want some unique pieces at a decent price and especially pleasant service. (In fact, I made this Yelp account just to post a review! That's how much I enjoyed my visit there.)

I purchased the jewelry for my wedding day here and have received quite a few gifts that I have loved. They have pieces that are 'one-off' or a little more quirky which is why i like them. I bought C. a birthday present of a sterling silver winged heart on necklace from Metal Couture. I…read morelike the goth/rockabilly style of their jewelery. I also like the buying something that has been locally made and not mass-produced in some factory. Some of Metal Couture's jewelery is over the top, rings like cathedrals, necklaces in the shape of bird skulls, or earrings like chandeliers, but all of it is very finely crafted and incredibly detailed. This is not cheap costume jewelery, like much of the stuff in this style. It is handmade in the studio behind the shop. I was shown studio, it is like an alchemists laboratory with animal skulls and other items. Unfortunately the jeweler, William Llewellyn Griffiths was out on that day, so I wasn't able to see the master at work. The style of their jewelery is reflected in the shop fittings, lots of red velvet drapes and the large gilt frame where the jewelery is displayed. Metal Couture has the aesthetics of the decadence. The silver heart is hallmarked and silver chain is a good weight and thickness. And most importantly C. loves it. It really fits with her style and looks so good on her.

Tucked away down a little arcade, this jewellery store stocks some of the best wares from around the world. Pieces are bold and range from the traditional tribal designs to more edgy and contemporary works. There is a large range of stones including some beautiful amber necklaces and bright turquoise, and inky lapis lazuli. On my last visit I noticed an enormous coral and turquoise necklace hanging in the front window. Like something you might have seen on an Eastern princess the deep reds and bright blues were hypnotic. But I was poor that week and trying to save money, so I resisted the temptation to ask how much it was. The service is warm and friendly, and the advice knowledgeable and helpful. The store stocks a large collection of silver chains too, which has come in useful over the years as I have a nasty habit of misplacing my jewellery.

I knew exactly what I wanted, but after going into store after store, I couldn't find it. I found many rings that had aspects of what I wanted, but nothing encompassed everything in the one ring. Peter Arnold is a kooky man with a strange sense of humour who managed to take in exactly what I wanted and turn it into my dream engagement ring. The carat and clarity of my diamond meant the ring I have would have cost three thousand dollars more than I paid had I brought it from a store. We also got our wedding rings made through him, as well as a ring left to me from my grandmother into a peal ring. I can't say enough about Peter Arnold, he is worth sitting down and having a chat with.

I would give zero stars if I could. I made the Melbourne boutique call the Perth boutique this…read moremorning to make sure the watch advertised on their website was still available before buying it. The Melbourne store got back to me saying that the Perth store was keeping it on hold for some customer who would come to inspect it in the afternoon. Since no deposit was handed in, and since the website was still showing the watch as available, I purchased it online. The payment went through, I receive an order confirmation email and the website reported the watch to be SOLD OUT just after my purchase. All good, then? Not really. Five hours later, I find out my payment got refunded without even a courtesy call from anyone. I called the main office and I was shocked by the guy on the phone (guys, you really need to understand what proper customer service is), who didn't even apologize ONCE for what happened and didn't even offered me a possible solution to fix the problem. Since they had an identical watch available on the website (just with the steel band as opposed to the leather band), I proposed to buy that one (regardless of the fact that was more expensive) with the condition that they would offer me the same discount they applied on the one I bought earlier in the morning. They refused once again showing an unbearable carelessness towards a problem THEY have created and a snobbish attitude that was really the icing on the cake. All I did was purchasing a watch from their website. And now I have no watch, no apologies, no valid alternative even offered. You tell me if this can even happen in a store that picture itself as a "fine retailer".

As with seemingly all of the fine jewelry storefronts along that part of Collins Street, Hardy Brothers' display cases shone beautifully with sparkling (and expensive) baubles and trinkets. Julianne Brewer, our comely customer sales agent (who, to me, bore a semblance to Nicole Kidman!), was (bar none) such a terrific person to deal with. She took the time to show us what we needed, answered all our questions, and made us feel like "friends," rather than customers. If there's anyone who I'd want to give my business to, it would be to Ms Brewer! She is as good as it gets...!!! (Alas, it's such a pity that Tiffany & Co. is just down the street....)

We checked out a few places online, in the city and so forth and ended up deciding we wanted to buy from here. I wanted an Aussie diamond to match my Aussie husband. I had my own staff member with a velvet tray follow me around to hold the rings that interested me. I chose 5 or 6 rings to start, we sat down and tried them and I put back the ones that I didn't want. It was all very fun and exciting trying on rings.
