The market here is open pretty much everyday (except in the winter when they are limited to fewer…read moreshops indoor) and is one of the tourist spot to stop by, either for a regular city tour or while waiting for a ferry to Suomenlinna. The shops sell things ranging from crafts and souvenir to fresh produces like berries and veggies and cafe food. It's a nice quick stroll to see Helsinki life :) (though many tourists come here more than locals I think). Pluses are that there's no entrance fee but, as a big foodie fan, I wish they have more selection for edible food to try out!

The vendors offer high quality produce and flowers or fish. It's so nice to take a coffee break in one of those coffee tents while weather permits. They do offer cover but sometimes during winter months coffee shops are not present at the market. Hakaniemen Tori, is very easy to access by public transportation or by foot. Should you be looking for a parking space, good luck with that! If you do take a Taxi they can easily drop you off or pick you up when you are done enjoying your market experience. Definitely worth the visit.

I especially loved the handmade wooden trivets. They were beautiful. I also got some salmon soup which was amazing. It was cold outside and it warmed me up nicely. My friend got a crepe there and it was good. As the weather warms up there will be more vendors so I'd highly recommend a trip to visit.

I don't think Mikko A. or I were quite at that point, but having seen this kiosk on Anthony Bourdain's The Layover, and not having a clue as to when I would be in Helsinki again... I pretty much needed to go. Although Mikko warned me several times that I really wouldn't be missing anything, and although I read his 1-star review beforehand, I still insisted on going. Being the gracious Yelp CM that he is, he humored my request for "burgers" topped by condiment "udders." All I'll say is... he was right. This is more than just drunk food... it's blackout food-- as you definitely won't want to remember eating there ever again.

I tried their Korean fried chicken (KFC) and I'd say it is quite "interesting"... it just lacked the sweetness and crispiness that you would expect from the genuine one but it took an edge off of my craving for real KFC at least. However, the portion is HUGE for a 10 euro dish ; It comes with 5 whole chicken wings and your choice of coconut rice or egg noodles. I barely finished half by myself. The noodle was just plain and tasteless. I suspect they just boil it without any seasoning. It was also a bit too soggy since it's not cooked to order. I gotta mention that the kimchi was actually spot on and authentic-tasting! I would recommend this place for a quick and cheap eats if you happen to be hungry while in Kamppi.
