Lunch special
michelle l.

Very good fast food Indian food. I was in the area and needed to grab lunch (to go) quickly. I was delighted to see Kurry Xpress show up on my yelp search. They have a lunch special. For $8.99, you get an appetizer, an entree, rice, roti, and dessert from their hot dish line (served by the server). I got the chicken 65 and the chicken tikka masala. Everything was pretty good. I had hoped I'd get some vegetables or daal, but they gave me yogurt sauce instead, which was tasty. I think I'll try calling ahead to get something made to order in the future, just because I like having more options. But I can hardly complain for such a bargain served quickly and with a smile.

Kurry Xpress was not a standout for me. We spent several minutes trying to understand their complex menu. Many items on the menu were followed by the number "65" which made no sense to us. The worker just watched us struggling. As we asked questions we could never hear his answers because he wouldn't project his voice. Another worker came out & told us to ignore the menu because they are offering the buffet for $15. We tried the buffet. The food tasted pretty good, but it was amazing to me how almost every dish was totally mushy in consistency. The cauliflower was mush, the chicken was mush, etc. The naan bread we were expecting tasted more like an off-flavored pancake. The better foods we thought included the paneer dish. The cheese seemed fresh & tasty. Also the butter chicken had chicken that tasted good & wasn't mushy. The tikka chicken seemed very mushy to me. We've visited many Indian restaurants in the area & loved them. For us this one seemed just "ok".

Buffett table, vegetarian options
Tony N.

Excellent lunch buffet! I think previously they shut down the buffet based on other reviews but now they have brought it back. Inclues 17 items total, including naan. They have 1 table for vegetarian and another buffett table for non-vegetarian options. The best tasting by far was the butter chicken but overall everything I tried was good. Decent value at $15. They also still doing the 1 or 2 entree combination tray if you want to go that route and pay less, but when I saw the buffet table and all the good options, it was too hard o pass up.

Where do I begin? I'm sorry,  but I can't be lenient on this one because I've had great Indian food. J.K. my best friend is Indian and her dad makes one killer chicken curry. Positive: no dine-in due to the pandemic, so not crowded. The place was clean when walked in. My husband and I have been to an Indian place before, but we were with my best friend who told us what was good there. However, in this case, we didn't know what to order so we went there physically in the hope that the server could help us make our choices. First of all, we couldn't even tell her it's our first time and ask whether she recommended anything. We felt so rush; she just wanted to get our orders as if she was racing against the clock. We placed our order and explicitly say we wanted it spicy. I'm from the Caribbean, so I can handle the heat To our disappointment, our foods were not spicy AT ALL--- I guess she didn't think we could handle it. And to top it all off, she gave us 2 samosas instead of the 4 we paid for. I don't think I will go back there. The service is horrible

The buffet bar.

I came for the lunch buffet. Very good food in casual atmosphere. There is one steam table with 8 vegetarian options and another steam table with 8 meat filled options. It is self serve. All for $15. Today they had dosa and a savory donut type bread. There are 2 chutneys and watermelon water. You can get a soda or Mango lassi for extra money.

Cut Mirchi

Quick and easy Indian food that tastes very good! I ordered a medium butter chicken which wasn't as spicy as I was expecting. I got the goat curry spicy for my boyfriend and he loves it, it was VERY spicy but so flavorful and mouth watering. Biryani rice is perfectly spiced and cooked, and not a huge fan of the cut mirchi but it wasn't bad!

Lunch

Honestly, I randomly ordered a vegetarian lunch. I am now crying it is so hot ... I love it! (I'm from out of town on business.). So tourist/business friendly.

RAW CHICKEN
Kim R.

This was my first time and the last time here. My husband and i decided to eat from the buffet to hsve more verity. There were no labels so we had to ask what everything was. One of the utensil they had my the was scorching and burned my husbands hand. The Naan was NOT authentic it was more like a Pancake. The chicken was raw and when I told the employee at the register he offered me another piece from the same batch smh (sir if it was all cooked together chances are all the chicken is raw).

The bowls are reasonably priced and packed with flavor. My go-to is the regular Build-Your-Own Bowl. I choose sweet potato noodles paired with almond kale salad as my base, Brussels sprouts or sweet potatoes for veggies, and tofu (don't worry -- they have plenty of meat options!) for protein, topped with tomatoes, almonds, and pickled onions. It's so delicious and loaded with nutrients to keep me going. Not only is it healthy and satisfying, but the regular bowl is under $12! The staff is also generous with portions, making it an outstanding value. I can't recommend this place enough. I go regularly, and the food and service are consistently excellent. Thank you, Bolay!

Crazy fast. Just before getting the bowls home the car started to smell like the food and it was yummy. Opened the two bowls at home and they were chock-full of all the fresh ingredients we picked to the brim. Awesome. Didn't even need the two sauces they let you pick cuz the food was so fresh and flavorful. Every forkful had it's own unique blend of tastes and they were all great together. The chipotle sauce was tasty and light. The ginger tumeric had a great taste but was made with a mayo base I think and was just too thick/heavy. If they thinned it out a bit it would be perfect. This minor shortcoming was not enough to earn less than 5 stars. Enough food for 2 more meals, all for $10-15. Will Definitely be eating here again soon and frequently. Fresh, light, flavorful, clean. Done.

The service is amazing. The staff was attentive and helpful. I wish the food was better. I was in the mood for a salad. The first disappointment was that they only gave 3 choices. I am on a gluten free diet and didn't have a problem with that. I did have a problem with the fact that 2 out of 3 salads had cheese in it and is not for someone who adheres to a dairy free diet. Yes, I could have asked if the cheese could be left out. But these salads had multiple kinds of cheese. I never wanted to be that person who asks to leave out half of the ingredients because of dietary restrictions. I would have had to do that. Maybe the answer is the choice to have a custom salad for people like me. The second disappointment was that the salads had a price without any protein. When you added one of the proteins, the salad became very expensive. This was a huge turnoff. The last disappointment was the ice tea. Although there were 3 choices, two of them had ingredients to which I am allergic. The third choice had caffeine. There was really no choice other than to drink water. I chose the restaurant because it was midway between us and friends. I looked at ratings and the number of stars when I travel out of town. This was not really what I expected.

Pickup, on the other hand, was a bit of a cluster. I arrived about 10-15 minutes after my order was ready and the first person couldn't find it on their table of takeout orders. I waited patiently, and a second person who came out to assist was able to find it within seconds. The order had been ready, and on the table the whole time. I feel like they need to rethink their order pick up process, given how busy they are with takeout orders. Moving onto the food. I will say this was one of the better Indian places I have had the pleasure of experiencing in the Tampa area. My order consisted of the chicken seekh kebab, chicken tikka masala, and garlic chili naan. The food was packed well and held up on the journey home. The food was also hot when I got home and flavored well. The chicken tikka masala does only come in medium and hot options, and the medium version I got was quite spicey. I'm used to heat and even for me it was a bit on the hotter side. Overall, a great option for this part of town if you can't make it into Tampa for other Indian places.

On my quest to try another Indian restaurant, I found myself in the neighborhood and decided to…read moregive Naans Indian Bar and Grill a try. Hidden back behind another restaurant. It's housed in a former Wendy's restaurant, and I can see why it closed. It had no visibility. The tiny signs on the building for Naans were not legible so unless you knew the restaurant, people just drive by and think it's abandoned. We arrived 30-minutes after opening and there were 2 cars in the parking lot. My first thought was they must do a great takeout. Entering the restaurant, it was nothing fancy. I'm more interested in the food, flavors, and service. The server/hostess was pleasant, but not at all attentive or checked up on us once. I ordered the garlic naan and chicken tikki Marsala. My partner asked which items are vegan, she really didn't know. At Rasoi in Ybor, the server was asked the same question and she immediately pointed out all the vegan items. There were at least eight dishes that were vegan. Only having one choice and waited 15 minutes to order, we were stuck and he ordered the Dal Tudka. The meals were delicious. The sauces and medium spices were perfect in both meals. The garlic naan was perfect for dipping. I liked the chicken was cut into cubes and didn't require a knife. And, the prices were so reasonable for the amount of food you received. My letdowns were the reason for only 3 stars. They had 8 different guests order takeout. The only customer in there when we arrived ordered by phone and waited 30 additional minutes. He said to the owner he left his house 20 minutes after placing his ordering. There were additional wait times for 7 of the 8 people who called in takeout orders. Our wait time was equally long. There seemed to be ample help in the back from where I was sitting. We were in the restaurant for 65 minutes from the time we walked in until the time we left. Nothing screamed ambience, experience, as well as so few orders for this to occur. One of my biggest letdowns in any sit down restaurant, other than a fast food restaurant is bottled drinks. I like water served in a glass, with ice, a straw, and refills. I'd like to say I would give them another chance, but my partner was hellbent not returning due to the 1 vegan option and service. It's a shame such wonderful flavors were overshadowed by less than great service and extensive wait times for us and the guests who ordered takeout.

They also make a shrimp & a fish Biryani here. The garlic naan is the best I have ever had in my life as is the Lamb Saag. It's truly Authentic Pubjabi. They also have a buffet here every day from 11:30 to 2:30 and they also have one on the weekends & are open till 11pm on Saturday OuiOui. The menu is vast, and we have been hitting it hard. Some of our take out dishes were just ok, but most we have tried are 2.DIE.4. The good thing is they will alter the spice level for you so mostly everything we have tried we would order again with a different spice level in the future. I have wanted to go there for the last year. After an afternoon of shopping in the area, he mentioned he would like to try Indian food again. I was more than good with it. We pulled into the shopping plaza to an unassuming restaurant. The plaza has an Outback and Love's Coffee. Love's is execptional in coffee and tasty foods; Outback is a typical chain. This one is better than most. We arrived after shopping and walked into a restaurant with only one table seated. I must say it was Jan 2. Note: upon leaving, Outback wasn't packed based on the parking lot as we left, and this Outback is always packed. We enter the restaurant with a strong aroma of Indian spices. I did notice a sign by the door to franchise. I'm NOT into reviewing franchised restaurants, but I would bite my tongue and review. We were seated immediately and offered drinks. We both ordered water and I made my way to the bathroom to wash my hands. I returned to see 2 bottled waters from Sam's Club. Indian food has a bite and I knew I would need more than a bottle of water. Our order was taken, Fish 65, Lamb Vindaloo, Lentil Soup and Garlic Naan. I saw an episode of triple D where Lamb Vindaloo was made and I had to try it. The Lentil Soup came out for us to share. He didn't like it at first as he is use to Greek Lentil Soup and not the spice it had. I loved it!! As we slurped it, he grew to love it. The meal then came out, he ordered the Fish 65 and I ordered the Lamb and Naan. Both meals were amazing. The lamb, so soft you could cut with a fork, the sauce had a perfect spice. I ordered medium. The rice was perfectly cooked. My partner loved his fish, so much that he said he would come back, and he is the pickiest of eaters. I tried his entree and the sauce was amazing, I thought it was better than the Lamb Vindaloo sauce. I had two downfalls. Bottled water! When eating anywhere in the US, I like a glass that is filled that I shouldn't have to pay for! . But more importantly, I disliked the guy behind me, who I am guessing works there, on his phone, on speaker, carrying on with multiple conversations. I don't need to hear about your bidness. Tacky at best!
