For instance, Lady Gaga was played on C89.5 before she hit it big. There is an interesting mix of songs here. While you might hear a song daily, it does not become repetitive like KISS and the Top 40 format. Other things going for C89.5 are that it is a listener supported station, there are hardly any commercials and the music playlist is diverse. There are several programs that run during the evenings focused on certain genres like the Wednesday night trance show. Interestingly there is gospel music on Sunday mornings which kind of does not mix, but I get it is a community station that is student run. And sometimes that word "student" comes to mind. Specifically when the occasional news report segment comes up. It comes off as amateurish when the reporters stumble with their words while Seattle listens. But cut the person reporting some slack because it is for classroom learning. Being a student run station, C89.5 is impressive with its great music selection and for the most part competes well with the other stations on the dial trying to gain my attention.

Then after them you have the Free and Ursula show with Chef ( probably a cook, not a Chef) all they talk about is White rich people are bad for creating jobs for people who then pay taxes and buy stuff at local stores(sales tax)so local government can piss away with NO accountability, Free (Gee) thinks if you just pay everyone 25-30 per hour that would be the answer, maybe a semester of basic economics would be good for Mr Free. I can't believe Dori Monson is gone, RIP Dori, but could the radio station at least find someone with the same political position as him as a replacement? Other than Brandi who may not want the job full time, the time slot has been filled with left wing woke jokes Spike and Jack Stine who think they are so superior and have the answers to everything, as long as it's what they think should happen. John and Sherry are fun to listen to but after that forget about it, can't listen to that drivel. Thanks

"The government is the answer to all your problems and you should be ashamed of yourself if you don't parrot our view." When Dori died I was afraid KIRO would just go to the same talent pool of liberal idealists to fill his slot. My fears were justified when I turned on the radio the other day and found out that spike was now the host. Ughhhh, can't stand to listen to his well practiced sincerity oozing out of the radio. He sounds like he is trying too hard to convince everyone he is a thoughtful person but it just doesn't come across as real. The good news is now I have freed up a memory spot on my radio and filled it with another music channel. Thanks KIRO for helping me out on that.

Something has gone significantly wrong in the last 10 years (maybe longer). The so g rotation is completely predictable and boring. Whoever is in charge of programming is completely out of touch. If fans are being honest, we desperately want new, fresh music and less ads. For example, I want so much to support the new Daly and Migs show because I love all the main crew there, but during my 70 minute commute, I have to tune in and out multiple times in order to be entertained. There is maybe 30 minutes of entertainment in the 1st 60 minutes of the show. Consequently, I tune out at 6:08 and I might tune back in at 6:50 because I k ow that is Beat Migs time. You have the ingredients for a great morning show but you will destroy it unless you have more focus on the show content. I LOVE THE MENS ROOM. They know how to entertain the people without making is feel like it is ad heavy.

Steve Slaton was the top disc jockey & master of ceremony's for ages at the station during those years. Steve introduced new music to my ears and broaden my knowledge of old school bands. I recall the Friday rock report vividly and the Van Halen KISW rant they used. I remember both locations where the station was broadcasting. We had the opportunity to meet many artists that came into the station for live interviews. We'd be waiting outside with are Tower Records bag filled stuff to be autographed and luckily we were the only people there except for the hoards of fans that showed up for Van Halen. Thank god we meet them at the hotel. All I wanna say is thanks for the soundtrack of my youth and the stacks of stickers you'd give out. Nothing says seattle rock radio like a KISW sticker on your car.

In terms of a radio station, it's awesome that they are playing eclectic music on FM. There is a wide array of content, from all walks of life. The owner is awesome, and should be commended for his efforts and making this place a reality. In terms of a volunteer organization, it absolutely fails. I volunteered there for several years, and found it to be very cliquey. Aside from one or two people, volunteers with more seniority make zero attempt to make you feel welcome, resulting in a high turnover of enthusiastic new members who stop coming after a few times. No one introduces themselves. Countless times I'd walk in to the station to be un-greeted, and looked over with apathy and indifference. It was so palpable at times, that it killed my enthusiasm and made me leave. Most of the contact between volunteers is done through email and Slack, a cloud-based collaboration tool. All of the regulars are quick to respond to one another, pat themselves on the back, and quick to tell you when you're doing something wrong, but if you have a question, they literally never, ever get back to you, unless they need something from you. That's the reason new people don't stick around, and that's the reason I left. Actual face-to-face meetings felt like a cool kids table. If you are a self-motivated, DIY kinda person who wants to have a radio show, you are certainly given the tools to get you there. If you want to feel like you a part of a community, you are ranked based on age, melanin, and genitalia. There's a lot of younger volunteers who pollute the meetings seeming to care nothing about music, professionalism, egalitarianism, and instead want to wear a provocative t-shirt and push their political agendas and SJW ideologies. Literally, the biggest safe space banner you will ever see hangs on the wall as a constant reminder that you're only welcome in this spot, if you fit the criteria. People went out of their way to make me feel unwelcome. A few times I was working in the station during a new member orientation, listening to the organizer with ill-fitted attire and a water bottle with an Antifa sticker say "like" every other word, and repeatedly making it clear that they don't want "bands with like, all white guys, like, playing shows here". No one is there to reprimand this unprofessional behavior, resulting in less than 1/10 of the new volunteers each meeting sticking around more than a few weeks. I suppose in defense of H.E.R., you're only as good as your volunteer base. I hope some fresh faces with outgoing personalities really clean up the place, but you'll, like, have the cards, like, stacked against you.

They just get play a lot, same songs too. Love it when they get some Guns N Roses or Ozzy going to wake me up in the traffic. The main thing that gets me tuned in is BJ Shea and Sarah. They're a good duo. My sizzling Hot take - Danny Bonaduce stepping down was a good move. I liked him, he was funny, and his "hot take" segments were funny, but his Life coach segment was ill advised. He'd often advise guys who had a friend cheating on their spouse to say nothing and even help them cover it up if need be. Like dude, that is not bro code.
