When flipping through the radio stations on my daily morning commute 102.5 is in the rotation. Get my classic rock on. Like pretty much every station they have some good hits that are awesome, and then a bunch in the rotation that play too often. I get a little worn out with Lynyrd Skynyrd Freebird since it plays so often and definitely Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana. Don't get me wrong. I love those bands! They just get play a lot, same songs too. Love it when they get some Guns N Roses or Ozzy going to wake me up in the traffic. The main thing that gets me tuned in is BJ Shea and Sarah. They're a good duo. My sizzling Hot take - Danny Bonaduce stepping down was a good move. I liked him, he was funny, and his "hot take" segments were funny, but his Life coach segment was ill advised. He'd often advise guys who had a friend cheating on their spouse to say nothing and even help them cover it up if need be. Like dude, that is not bro code. So, BJ Shea has taken it over and it's an improvement. Sorry Danny! Rock on KZOK. read more

Well in January 2025 I won tickets to the Billy Idol and Joan Jett concert from this radio station and they never sent me the tickets or information and I tried calling and calling and emailing texting nothing got through so I missed the concert that I was so looking forward to going to so these guys suck in my opinion I tried contacting the sales and marketing department the studio line no one replied to anything for months bad bad business and chance of a lifetime for me that I missed read more

I'm literally writing this review in the hopes that someone from the station will see it and change the direction of affairs at KZOK. Basically, Danny Bonaduce and Sarah are great on-air personalities. However, their show is unlistenable over the KZOK airwaves, and is only palatable in podcast form, without anything breaking up the segments. On KZOK, you hear 1-2 minutes of their banter, and then one of the 50 songs in current rotation on KZOK. These songs are horribly overplayed, and are almost always the same. Want to hear a joke? Wait until "Sledgehammer" plays out (5:12), followed by six commercials. Want to hear a satirical take on the news? You'd better be a fan of U2, because "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is going to play twice - both before and after the eight commercials in the break (4:37 X 2.) While the station's personality-based shows are unlistenable due to the too-frequent and repeated songs (Tom Petty, anyone?) and extended advertising blocks (which balances the programming out at about 30% content, 70% advertising), the playlist is the main KZOK issue. I have heard the aforementioned U2 song - and many others from the '70s -'90s like "Black Hole Sun," "Come As You Are," "Sweet Emotion," and "Dream On" many, many times when simply tuning in to KZOK, just to quickly hear what's going on there. That's why I would say it's 50 songs. "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac, "Miss You" by the Stones, and "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd all sit side-by-side, several times per day. I have heard some of these played twice in one hour, as if this is KISS-FM in LA and they're competing with Billie Eilish Lil Nas X, Dua Lipa, or Beyonce. I'm not sure what KZOK could do to rectify this, other than completely change course. The classic rock format isn't really viable anymore. That becomes clear when listening to KZOK. Right now, as I type, KZOK is playing Mellencamp, "Small Town" - one of the most overplayed '80s songs ever. Sure, I like it, as I originally liked many of KZOK's selections including "Whole Lotta Love." But when you want to turn off Led Zeppelin, you know it's bad. The station is apparently raking in enormous profits from ad blocks, but KZOK lacks quality control, knowledge of its core audience's tastes, and any sort of real "direction," as far as programming is concerned. read more

KZOK Seattle's best Classic Rock station in Seattle. I can't count the hours I've listen to this radio station as a youth. But growing up in Seattle KZOK was the cornerstone of the local music scene. Steve Slaton was the top disc jockey & master of ceremony's for ages at the station during those years. Steve introduced classic music to my ears and broaden my knowledge of old school bands. My classic rock years of the 70's band were broadened immensely and Sunday with THE BEATLES was always great to wake up to. I remember both locations where the station was broadcasting. We had the opportunity to meet many artists that came into the station for live interviews. We'd be waiting outside with are Tower Records bag filled stuff to be autographed and luckily we were the only people around. Meeting Uriah Heep and getting backstage pass'a was a thrill . All I wanna say is thanks for the soundtrack of my youth and the stacks of stickers you'd give out. Nothing says seattle rock radio like a KZOK sticker on your car. read more

They finally have the guts to play the Ramones, Talking Heads, and other classics of punk and new wave that they blacklisted from the airwaves 40 years ago. I'm sure the artists who they deprived of commercial success are glowing with joy. As the boomers who crave an endless diet of BTO, Bob Seger and Journey slowly head off to nursing homes to die, late gen-xers who grew up listening to Nirvana and the Sex Pistols are creeping into KZOK's target demographic of middle-aged has-beens. All that counts to KZOK management-suits is what their polling and focus-groups tell them. I spent an afternoon participating in one of those groups a couple of decades ago. Despite a sprinkling of punk and grunge, what most KZOK listeners still demand is the same exact thousand or so stale and moldy FM mega-hits like "Stairway to Heaven," "The Joker" and "Rockin' Down the Highway." It's extremely frustrating because the so-called "classic rock" genre includes awesome deep album cuts from familiar bands, and thousands of incredible, but overlooked, artists like Big Star, the Stooges and the Velvet Underground. But KZOK is all about good-timey nostalgia, not about the music. The constant ads suck too. read more

Last summer I won a contest on the radio station did not receive my gift. I called them back couple weeks later they said they will be in the mail. Been waiting for it. It's been eight months now and no gift. And a couple of weeks ago I won concert tickets to the White River amphitheater did not receive them. Repetitive- sounds like they program a long list of music- then it starts same ones again. Sick of the alligator story- same o same o news. Mentions Obama - who cares- he is not news and a by gone- since many don't feel history and presidents aren't important- why do we care what, where, when , why or who he is with- No importance as he is history...what difference does it make.Don't want to hear about him- he is non- significant. There is alot more rock n roll we don't hear. Need more variety. Who cares about the person in the garage? Why would you call the FBI- better yet- how on earth did you ever get a response? Ok, I love Danny and Sarah. They're really fun and entertaining,however, they play the same songs that I can reliably predict what will be playing on the way to work-same thing every day! There are way too many commercials but first and foremost, Sarah's beaver and the "Filthy Forecast" are in poor taste in the present climate of the "me too" era. read more

KZOK is absolutely horrible now days. It's a classic rock station playing 80-90's pop music over and over. Since when is grunge must considered "rock". I switched over to The Quake and KISW. I love KZOK in small, carefully controlled, monthly doses - sort of like Midol. Following that theme, it briefly takes away the pain of daily exposure to 50 cent and occasionally and unhappily surfing past American Idol on the way to better things. Just this morning I took a trip back to high school with 'Runnin' with the Devil', 'Hell's Bells', 'It's Just a Kiss Away', Back on the Chain Gang', and 'Let it Ride'. Aahh, memories. Still love Chrissie Hynde. But... too much painkiller is a bad thing. As Phil so eloquently pointed out, it's a repeated playlist. Whenever I'm in Seattle, this was my favorite station. The other night I thought I should check if they have a simulcast over the net. Well, they did and they were having "Rock Blocks" over the weekend like KGON in Portland used to long ago. I guess I haven't listened to FM 102.5 for a couple of years because I was stunned to hear 5 or 6 minutes of commercials between every couple of songs! Plus, it was after 9 p.m. on a Sunday. Seriously, there must have been close to 30 minutes of commercials per hour. I had not experienced that length of interruptions since watching a movie on TBS. Probably time for a slight update. KZOK is still a good radio station, but not exactly what it used to be. Most of the entertaining local hosts and personalities are no longer with the station, and the playlist is a bit more predictable. I personally feel that live and local hosts were a significant part of what made this local institution beloved by listeners and successful for so many years. It has certainly been a difficult time for business, but bringing back even part of the local flavor would go a long way in making KZOK a shining example of classic rock radio once again. Thankfully, they have been able to retain their entertaining local morning show throughout all of these changes. Their sister station ("95.7 The Jet") has done a great job maintaining their local flavor while also not becoming repetitive. Hopefully KZOK will be able to follow in their footsteps. These are tough times of course, so I'm glad that they are still doing what they can to keep us entertained. read more

Really this was one of the FM stations and back in the 70's it was the coolest station Seattle had. And other then that we had kjr Chanel 95. Am that was it back in the 60's in Seattle. Then the movie FM came out and KZOK was born it was love the first time I listened you would listen to a whole album it was so cool read more

Station has gone downhill drastically lately. Not sure what they consider "Classic Rock", but way too much of what is on their limited play list is not classic. Too much 90`s heavy metal, punk, and grunge rock. Yeah, I know that was 25-30 years ago, but that doesn't make it "Classis Rock". I will continue to listen for one hour each week. That would be Saturday at 10AM to Gary Crow. That is the only person on this station that knows his shit. Will miss Danny, Sarah, and Paul in the morning, but I never know when they will play Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give it away, or Motley Crew - Kickstart my Heart. I'm done. read more

Repititious. They do still play a lot of classic rock, but far too much Motley Crew and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. A few songs are fine, but I swear they play the same songs far too often. I love KZOK! I even won $102.50 in September. Two months ago I texted money when they played Pink Floyd and won! There was a bit of paperwork which was sent in a month and a half ago. I called CBS in Seattle as recommended by KZOK. The person who answered told me it would be 8 to 12 weeks to get the money from CBS headquarters in New York. I asked for the phone number for said headquarters and was told she doesn't have that number. Really? read more

KZOK advertises itself as Seattle's only classic rock station and they do play 100% classic rock. Trouble is, they don't play a 100% of it. Now, I'm a older rocker and I remember a day when KZOK played the big hits right as they came down the pike but, a lot of those great, now-classic hits, are not part of KZOK's play list. It's like those other great songs by Montrose, Gamma, Mountain, James Gang, Robin Trower, Rainbow, and Pat Travers, etc., fell into a black hole. Come to think of it, seems ever since major corporations like CBS acquired Seattle radio stations (CBS owns just about every one), the stations have become as formula as the record companies owned by other major corporations. The result is, KZOK's predictable play list of the same songs over and over again but in random order. The only respite from their daily play list is their Top-1000 songs featured around the Christmas holidays, or programs like Breakfast with The Beatles and Lunch with Led on Saturdays and both of which are now painfully classic in their own right . Other than that, you'll have to drive to the Yakima Valley and listen to all of the great songs KZOK apparently forgot about. I'm referring to the musical breath of fresh air that is Eagle 106.5 KEGX. One saving grace of KZOK is Bob Rivers and company http://www.bobrivers.com... . His weekday show is funny and a lot of his Twisted Tunes are absolutely hilarious. I just wish KZOK's program director would vacation in Yakima Valley's wine country, listen to Eagle for a week, copy their play list and add it to their own. Danny Bonaduce and Sarah morning show is hilarious. I listen ever weekday morning (except during football season) and always find the entertainment factor a plus. However, Sarah can be better when delivering the news. Her facts are often incorrect and it's obvious her own political and personal opinion is skewing what and how she delivers it. I personally don't listen to the show to keep up on current events, but more to hear Danny make hilariously juvenile comments. However, as Sarah fancies herself as more of the "intellectual" on the show and portrays herself as such, she should do better. read more
