This soccer field is directly adjacent to two elementary schools. It's a huge area of flat, grassy land, and you'll often find soccer goals set out even when the teams aren't there actively using them. There are 14 soccer fields here, and the whole area is very well-maintained. When soccer games are happening, you'll often find the snack bar and restrooms open. I know for sure the snack bar is only open during games, but I'm not sure about the restrooms.

As someone new to the Westfield area, I thought this was pretty cool and kind of surprising. Although I'm not really into sports unless I'm feeling 22-but have visited the campus a couple times now for various reasons like the Shipshewana Flea Market, "Whale of a Sale" (a large, upscale children's consignment event) and most recently "Winter Fest" presented by Westfield Youth Sports and "Brought to you by Birdies," the mini golf place and bar/restaurant in Westfield. Winter Fest was a fun and free event for locals inside the campus to promote sports enrichment in the community. Westfield residents who signed up received tickets for $15 worth of food (per person) at the cafeteria. This was quite generous of them! Chik-fil-A was also there with a booth giving out merch and gift cards for meals. The cafeteria and adult bar area are well maintained, shiny and new. The indoor field is clean and beautiful. Staff is friendly and helpful. There were vendors offering to match donations for youth sports fundraisers and local businesses advertising their products. They had tons of inflatables--even one for adults too. It was a great experience and I look forward to attending other events at Grand Park. I found out after Winter Fest that there had also been a Health and Wellness expo that same day and wished I had known about it sooner with companies like Pure Barre being there. Next year, I'll be keeping an eye out for that event and others like it.

The complex is home to Northeast Youth Soccer League, FC Pride Soccer Club, Cathedral other amenities; home High School, Lawrence Central High School and Bishop Chatard High School. When there is events, tournaments or other happenings going on the complex's snack bar will more than likely be open. They carry your typical snack bar stuff like candy, drinks, and hot dogs. Outside of vast green space, and soccer fields, some of which were lighted, you will also find a nice paved path that goes around the fields. I saw a few people using it to work out while I was there. The fields appeared to be a bit neglected while I was there. Some of the, had rash and used water bottles and needed to be mowed. A decent place to host soccer games, especially tournaments. The complex is massive. There is tons of parking, divided between a couple of lots. I hope I caught it off season or on a bad day and that they normally do periodic maintenance and up keep of the fields and complex, which is my only major gripe.

It has 5 baseball/softball fields that are in dire need of some TLC. The dugouts are full of trash and a couple of the roofs are collapsing. They have a concession stand and restroom facility that are operated during events. There is also bullpens and batting cages on the complex. One of the ball fields has I-70 in the background, which some could consider cool while other totally hate it. I think it is kind of cool. What sets this place apart from many baseball complexes is that it has a 13,500 square foot indoor facility that can be used for training during inclement weather or the cold season. The indoor facility has a pro shop, team meeting rooms, batting tunnels, bullpens, and a 8,000 square foot fielding area. It looks impressive. You can check out some videos of it on their Facebook page. In addition to practices and tournaments the facility plays host to hitting, fielding, catching and/or baseball softball pitching instruction. There is a decent amount of places to park, but they are not marked and they could really fill up very quickly during a tournament and become hard to come by. This complex has a lot of potential and could really be a first class facility. It needs quite a few repairs and upgrades to get to that point though. As it is now, it is an OK location to host a tournament and is much better suited for training and practice. They work with all ages year round and get the kids ready for the next level.

The playgrounds are great and seemed pretty inclusive of most age ranges. There's a lot of climbing areas, some more like steps and some ropes and ladders, so they vary the challenge level. This was great for the littles I was with (4-5 yo) and still interesting for older kids I saw playing. Toddlers have their own little playground off to the side. They do have a glider for wheelchair users, but I don't think the rest of the main equipment would be accessible. Maybe the swings for some. There are a lot of mature trees off to one side and at least one picnic table over there. When the trees bloom for the year, it's going to be beautiful! They have a sand volleyball court, paved walking path, and I spotted a few more sports areas--basketball, soccer. There's potentially a lot to do here! Bathrooms were close to the playground and clean. It's close enough to go grab coffee or ice cream after as well, which in my opinion, makes it great for a day of fun. I'll look forward to seeing the park again later this spring/summer!

It is a nice park and has two playgrounds, one on each side, some decent sized pockets of green space where you can have a football game, soccer match or fly a kite. They are mostly used for warm up areas where some of the young ball players are tossing the ball around. They have a decent sized parking lot, but when the ball teams are playing, parking gets kind of crazy and it is hard to find a spot. Even finding a spot in the grass was difficult for me. The playground areas are on a bed of wood chips and has a bank of swings and a large jungle gym with monkey bars, a couple of slides and more.It is in decent shape and is relatively new. I will admit, the areas are both kind of small and do not have much equipment, You will find a picnic shelter here with a couple of tables under it. It could use a few more.Also, during games, they have snack bars and restrooms available. The baseball portion of the park consists of 13 fields, 2 restroom/concession stands, and two batting cages. This is a nice facility and can host some big tournaments. in front of Fields 1 and 4 you will find the park's centerpiece, the Chosin Memorial, which consists of a path, a nice sculpture, and a group of flag poles representing the county and all the branches of service. This is a nice park, even though it is mainly for baseball/softball. It is in very good shape and well maintained. My little's did find the playground very entertaining and it was difficult for them to leave. The good part was that the playground that we were at was empty. We were the only ones there. The one of the other side was packed though.

If you go on a day when there isn't a game, the parking looks endless along the main road that runs through the park. However, if you think about how many kids are involved in a single game and how many parents drive to watch them, you can see forty spots (probably more) for each field being used. With multiple games occurring at a time and with the "nose in" style parking, finding a place, dodging pedestrians who are carrying stadium seats and coolers, well, you can imagine it's tough finding a spot and tough backing out. The fields and dugout are well maintained and there are several batting cages you can use. Additionally there is an out building and playground. But oy parking...what a mess. In ball season...if you want to park near the fields forget it. It is a complete clusterbomb of cars wherever. Seriously bad planning on the part of the parks department. Presumably you can park at the high school and walk (maybe that was the intent?) but they rope off the soccer field just north and it's a bit of a hike. And I didn't see anyone walking from there...they were just trying to get situated closer to the fields. All in all...a nice entry to the parks department that is IMO packed in an area way too small for intended use.

We love that they have a multitude of events happening at the community center which can be enjoyed…read moreby residents and even non-residents (like us). We went during the holidays to walk through their lighted trail and found it enchanting. It isn't a long path but lots of fun with arches, reindeer, Santa's and more. The lights extended through the whole common area and were a delight! We also went inside for a bit and saw some great displays. The fitness area was busy but there were many spaces for people to sit or have kids play while waiting on others. This is a great aspect of the community and we are so thankful for their commitment to providing concerts, activities and other community activities.
