With that being said, I am sad to say that my experience has not been the very best. It was hard for us to set up/ and confirm appointments because I work and she was busy (she had a baby a couple months ago, so I think that triggered a lot of it). But I had to do 6 hours with her because she said that was the minimum and we broke these up into a couple of sessions. I also live in Houston so it was a trek getting out there to Stafford, so I usually give myself an hour before our sessions to arrive early and prepare. Among these times, I don't think there was one time where she was on time, nevertheless early. I would soon learn to bring something to do in the parking lot or do her homework while waiting. During our sessions her phone would constantly be on, and she would be texting and taking up phone calls which was a bit distracting for me (given, I believe most were from her parents regarding her baby). And there were times where I noticed she was setting up future tutorials which made me wonder why she was not as quick to respond to my requests. There were also issues for me where before my session ends, kids would be coming in to ask her questions, asking her about this and that, sharpening their pencils in the machine, etc. so our session would end early, or I was eager to get of there and let her deal with her incoming students. I have since then taken Kaplan and compared the two styles regarding GRE math; Shahin will teach you the quickest method to solve algebraically, where Kaplan teaches you that not all problems need to be fully solved, but to assess the problem and try to come up with an answer. I preferred the latter (Kaplan), but in all honestly I think that's just a personal preference.

My daughter was so stressed with her Geometry class in the 10th grade but after enrolling her with Mr. Jan she is a totally different student. She is so confident and capable of facing up to the challenge. This would not have been possible without Mr. Jan and his team of professional staff. Helen, the administrative assistant is so cordial and supportive. Together, they all make you feel like we are all one big family with problems that can always be solved. Would I recommend them? I emphasized she doesnt know yet, its not that we know, she came here as her last hope to see if she can manage AP and he didnt care. He said he cant do 4 sessions only!!! this was the first time in my life seeing a teacher cares for momey over improvement of a struggling child! unbelievable!!!

This place is a total scam. I took my daughter, who just completed the 8th grade, following a phone…read morediscussion explaining she needed help with algebra and study skills. I was assured this was something they could help with. We went in and my daughter took their version of the PSAT for $60. We were pulled into an office where we were spoken down to and my daughter was told that there was no excuse for her low grade since she had just taken the course. We were then given three very costly options to purchase hours ranging from $5000-$11000 and full payment was due immediately. There was no discussion of the policy regarding payments, expiration of purchased hours, progress checks, etc. Despite my hesitation, I signed my daughter up for one two-hour study class in Algebra at the drop-in rate of $125/hour. When she arrived, she was handed a workbook in a room full of other students and that was it. Her "instructor" reviewed her answers after 90 minutes, told her they were correct, and that was it. For $250, I paid for ZERO instruction. The book could have been given in advance as we scheduled the class two days prior at the location! Do not waste your time or money at C2!

I couldn't have asked for a better ACT course than the one offered at Testmasters. I took the…read moreWinter Break Cram Course, which crammed the entire regular course into two weeks of classes. In the class, I learned about new test-taking strategies, and I got a good review of all of the topics on the test. Most importantly, though, I got exposure to practice materials consistently throughout the course. I had to miss a few classes due to preexisting plans, and Testmasters was very flexible. They gave me access to the online course videos for the days that I missed so I could catch up on my own time. The teachers in the class were all really interesting, funny, and engaging. They knew my classmates and I were on vacation, so they put in a lot of effort to make the classes fun. Each day, lessons were filled with games and joke, but, even though we kept things casual and had a good time, the course was still super informative. (Testmasters also lightened the mood by bringing pizza or candy to each class, something they do for all of their courses.) Güs and Askari really stood out to me as excellent teachers. They knew their material well, and they kept class fun and exciting. For standardized testing, I believe that practice makes perfect, and I'm sure Testmasters would agree with me. Included with my course was Exam Club, a weekend service where you can go to a Testmasters location and take a practice ACT or SAT. Between the end of my course and when I took my ACT (February) I went to Exam Club every weekend possible. Each week, I saw my score go up a bit. I ended up getting a perfect 36 on the ACT thanks to Testmasters, and I would recommend their course to anyone looking for a standardized test prep program.

A friend recommended the Sugar Land location of TestMasters, so I submitted an inquiry through their website after reviewing the information they had posted. While their website provides a good overview, I wanted to better understand when my child should start the program and get more details about what their courses actually offer. Someone responded to my inquiry and asked me to call the office. Unfortunately, when I called, I felt that my questions were met with impatience, and I was repeatedly told to just read the website instead of having my questions answered. As a parent making an important decision about my child's education, I expected a more welcoming and informative conversation. The call left me feeling discouraged rather than supported, and it reduced my confidence in the level of customer service I could expect throughout the process. Even if the program itself is excellent, the initial communication is an important part of the experience, and unfortunately mine was disappointing.
