The first impression was it's expensive compared to other tutors. They do have mandatory reporting after every session, which is great, and the tutors are qualified. My son has been in Oxford, Kumon, and other private tutors over the last 5 years, and he said they were not near as good as the tutor he has here. When I went in for the initial meeting (very long process), everything seemed great until it was time to sign up. They force a buy this now or else type of pushy sales tactic, and when I suggested I only wanted 1 day a week, not two, he told me I was not serious, and I should not bother going. They wanted the $1140 for the month upfront right then and there. He kept at the reviews how they have over 500 5 star reviews, and it's worth it and to read them (they have them playing on the screen). I get it's a business but... If it weren't for my son having 3 tests in two weeks, I would have walked out, but I pushed aside my thoughts and said I would give it two weeks because we had no other options at the time and the other tutors I've met did not seem that good. We agreed on paying $570 for two weeks and I would re-evaluate before the last session. His tests are complete and marked. Going the two weeks did help a lot. He bumped up his grade from 43% to 75% and has all the fundamentals down and is confident now. In the end, am I glad I paid the amount and went with them- yes. He was struggling, and his tutor has helped him a lot. He does like it there and wants to continue 1 day per week. Do I wish they would change how they sell and pressure people in the moment - yes. They should also not require a positive review in exchange for the $20 as that is like buying fake 5-star reviews. Let us give honest reviews if your business is excellent; the reviews will be too. Hopefully, this gives some insights to help others, and I hope they fix some of the negatives for future customers. If it weren't for the sales tactics I would give it 5 stars.

I attended from grade 2 - 12 and enjoyed every minute of it. The academic integrity of this school is above any other that I know of, and the teachers are incredibly passionate about their jobs. I wasn't a role model student, I needed a little bit more help than some, but the teachers would always put in the extra time to help me and to make sure that I understood the material. My colleagues that left MVA for another high school have often told me that the switch wasn't worth it because they were receiving a lower grade of education in trade of a bigger school with my more kids. If it weren't for the extra care and attention I received while I was attending school, I would likely not be studying for my B.Sc Psyc at UVic today. MVA helped build a solid foundation for my education, and as a result have opened many doors for me that may not have been available otherwise. Though I am bias in my opinion, obviously, it is only because I did go to the school for over a decade; I experienced first hand the quality and care that all the teachers (including the administration, as they often switch between teaching and managing) give to their students. If I could go back in time and choose differently, I wouldn't. I love this school, and if I have children in the future, MVA is my first choice. 5/5 - Would attend again

As an ESL student, I often needed extra help from the teachers due to my English level at the time, the teachers always stayed after school to assist me to go over the materials I needed help with. Because the class size was relatively small compared to public high schools, the teachers were able to ensure each one of their students was getting the best education they deserved. As an international student who came to Canada alone, I needed help not only with school but also with things in life in Calgary, i.e. finding a homestay family to stay with, extending my study permit and having someone there for me to talk to when I needed. I couldn't thank Mrs. P and Mrs S enough for all they've done for me throughout my journey here. They've gone above and beyond for what their responsibilities were as my high school principals. They took care of me like I was one of their children. My parents to this day still talk about them and thank them for taking such a good care of me. As cheesy as it may sound, MVA to me was not only my high school, but also my home. The help I received from MVA did not stop after I graduated from the school. After I graduated from MVA, I was accepted to University of Calgary. I was able to come back to school and asked the teachers to help me to go over my papers when I needed help. I graduated from the university 4 years later, and have been working for an oil and gas company since. Without the education and the help I received from MVA, I wouldn't be where I am today.
