The shop

This is most certainly one of the top professional shops in the county and that I have ever been to. This may look like a rough and tumble group of folks, but realistically it is a collection of highly skilled haircutting artisans that take deep care in every single client. Owner Marcos, has assembled an eclectic team that keeps the shop well above standards of cleanliness and tool readiness, and experts of their field. Just to give it a five star rating is almost disrespectful to the quality they serve up in the craft wield and represent behind the tinted glass. More stars would be necessary to be fully truthful. If I were asked for words to describe the values of the shop, they would be: Value, quality, integrity, trust

Kultured Barbershop has to be the most reputable shop in town. The quality of talent the barbers at this shop exemplify is impeccable. The atmosphere in the shop is welcoming, professional, and most importantly Fun! Big S/O to Castle Cutz for always blessing me with the sharpest Cutz.

I've been getting my hair cut by Chris for a while now and have nothing but good things to say.

I've gone to this place around 6 times and have had decent haircuts and not so decent ones, but…read morethis last haircut i got from them was absolutely atrocious. I showed a reference pic I drew since I never really saw a reference pic of the exact haircut I wanted. I learned the hard way that this was probably not a good idea. the picture was very straight forward, and I made sure to put in a lot of effort and even made a fading effect for the sides and back using Procreate. the haircut was supposed to be a tapered fade on the sides and trimmed up on the top and back. I made the picture for my friend who cuts hair back home and they did it exactly how I wanted, it was an amazing experience. I did this especially since my customer service experience with Lucas the last time I cut my hair here was so horrible to the point where I was about to get up from the chair and leave. he asked me what I wanted and I tried explaining to the best of my abilities that I wanted the top and back to be longer than the sides and that I wanted a fade on the sides and back. he kept being rude and condescending making me feel like I was dumb or speaking gibberish. the haircut ended up being uneven anyway, but back to this past experience. Ramona looked at the pictures for a good 5 seconds and claimed she understood my vision...then proceeded to give me a mohawk. the sides were entirely shaved off to the top with a strip of hair going from the top down the back. I was holding back tears. she didn't face the chair towards the mirror throughout the entire process then turned me around at the end to surprise me almost as if it was on purpose. she told me we could adjust by fading the sides into the top a bit more if I didn't like it, but there was no salvaging that. I told her "honestly, this isn't what I wanted. I wanted a fade on the sides, not a mohawk." i was being so polite considering the situation at hand, and she denied she ever saw a fade in the picture. I said there was and even showed her the pictures again, and she proceeded to try and gaslight me into thinking that there was no fade in the pic. I said there was and she pointed at the fade in the pic and said "that's not a fade." I'll include the reference pics in this review, and you can see for yourself if you think I'm just being an irrational customer. it's hard to advocate for yourself when the person you're dealing with is trying to convince you you're seeing things. I gave up, and told her to just buzz the mohawk off with a 1. she said she doesn't work off of clipper numbers but centimeters and inches instead, so I just pinched my fingers to the point where they were almost touching to show I wanted it...buzzed off...like I said. now wasn't the time to ask me what I wanted in detail, that should've been at the beginning of the cut. I assumed she was a professional and understood what I wanted after looking at it so briefly, so I trusted her. you would think a professional would confirm with a client that they wanted a haircut as drastic and unconventional as a mohawk, but there was none of that. I would've been happy to give her my phone to reference whenever she needed, but I'm not sure if that would've helped in her case since she thought she knew exactly what I wanted. so now I'm bald :D and i watched as all my nice curls were being swept off the floor right in front of me. I still tried being so nice about it and even made light of the situation trying to look at the bright side to not make her feel bad. she had the audacity to say it was a good cut for the summer. she didn't apologize or feel bad at all that she completely botched my haircut. I was so tempted to get up and leave without paying because that's definitely what would've been the right thing to do after such a soul-crushing experience, but I paid her the $35 and even gave her a $5 tip. I tip regardless if it's good or not, she even seemed shocked that I did. the worst part about all this is that I waited an hour and paid $40 to get my head shaved when I could've literally done this at home. I've included the reference pics, a video of her interpretation, and my bald head. I'm not going to tell you to go here or not, i think my case speaks for itself.

Luckily I found Surecuts which happened to be across the street from my gym, so it was an easy hop over after a workout to get the hair managed. The salon is small and well maintained. I came in October and they were definitely feeling the spooky Halloween vibes. They have a restroom available for use and an arcade machine to burn some time on if you are waiting for your turn. I made an appointment (and they do 30 minute blocks) but was able to walk in early when they opened. Men's haircut is $25 which is a very reasonable price. I worked with Yareli who was very sweet and even offered some life tips while getting my cut done. She was intentional in asking to make sure what I wanted was happening, and that I liked the end product. In about 20 minutes, I was done and dusted with a new fresh cut. You can pay with your digital wallet, card, or cash. Don't forget to ask for a stamp card - your 5th visit will be $5 off! Small parking lot out in front so easy to drop in and get the business done.
