It was cozy and inviting and had the fabulous works of Marc, Kandinsky, and others in the Blaue Reiter group. It was a bit of a personal oasis. Fast forward to December 2015, my first opportunity to visit since their major remodel. It now feels like a museum instead of like you're visiting someone's house who happens to have an awesome art collection. Paintings are spaced far apart on white walls. It feels like they have fewer Marc paintings on display (though my memory could be faulty). Many of the Kandinsky paintings are now no longer in the proper museum - they're in the auxiliary gallery in the U-bahn station. While it's still some of my favorite art, the overall atmosphere and experience is not what it once was.
