There are very many rare and beautiful artifacts here, though, and they are displayed very well. The young man at the desk spoke English. He was very patient and was very willing to answer our questions. We especially enjoyed the displays of lavishly decorated royal watercraft, as well as examples of items used in everyday life in Bavaria.

A very interesting and unusual museum in a contemporary setting with a delightful cafe. The cafe…read moreseems very popular for a relaxing time with coffee and cake. I had a raspberry pastry that was excellent. Robust, fresh yet with a delicate crust at the bottom. With some cream and fresh red currents at the side it was perfect. Washing it down with a cappuccino was just right. Service was good yet a bit harried and off. Some of our party got the cream, others not and had to go to the counter to get it. It is table service. We were also chided and had to move as we selected a table too far from what they wanted to serve. The setting, however, was beautiful- the grass and trees, beautiful building, and the Starnberg lake.
