Regal is the best way to describe it and when you get all dressed up you fit right in :-) Acoustics are great, the seats also well set so you can see the stage well and we loved our first experience here. Hard to believe we had not visited here before. A venue for opera, ballet, concerts and symphony they have a series of things on throughout the year. It is a historic opera house, home of the Bavarian State Opera, Bavarian State Orchestra and the Bavarian State Ballet. We went to see the performance of Ana Karenina by Tolstoy as a ballet performed by the Bavarian State Ballet and it was an amazing experience. Would come back here for more anytime. It's a beautiful theatre with such luxurious surroundings :-)

It's been here for decades and run by volunteer craftsmen and puppeteers. They have a small theatre that plays shows every Thursday night and entry is free. They get small donations from patrons and that just pays for some drinks and dinner for the artists. They have a workshop at the back where they craft the puppets they need for the show and can also repair broken puppets. They have a Christmas special and do themes throughout the year. It's only closed during school holidays but open the rest of the year once a week. The guys were so friendly and welcoming and invited us to return for a show. A true hidden gem in Munich and so special that a bunch of people have kept the tradition alive for decades. The plays are only in German but I would come anyway.

Each table seats 6 and you can have dinner and theatre, if you so choose. There are waiters in the theatre and you can order drinks and food at your table during the show and intervals. We were introduced to this place by local friends and they had booked tickets for Rockabilly, a variety show. It's a fairly small stage but the show was extremely entertaining. All shows are of course in German but, easy to follow if you don't speak the language. The staff were very attentive and friendly and brought out drinks pretty quickly. I loved the ambience here and would come back in a heartbeat. I was amazed not to have heard about this place, after three years in Munich. A fabulous activity for a weeknight or weekend evening. The venue is intimate, I can't imagine there's a bad seat in the house. The program was top notch. A classic variety line-up, from acrobatics to magic, rope-work, ventriloquism, lounge singing, comedy sketches, etc. Though it was our night out, we couldn't help but think what a kick our kids would have had. It would have been past bedtime, but there weren't really any inappropriate moments. Our experience in the restaurant immediately after the show was not so great. Our entrees were prime rib and fish. Service was fine, but the the food was terrible, covered in generic sauces both salty and bland at the same time. Dessert was supposed to be crème brûlée but reminded me more of a greasy semolina pudding. The food reminded me unfortunately of a second-rate off-strip casino buffet. My recommendation: skip the restaurant and go straight to the show!

The circus has become a tradition for us on our annual holiday trip to Munich. We look forward to…read morethe show at Circus Krone on Christmas Day. It is a charming and affordable one-ring circus and the show is always entertaining. The acts are outstanding and the venue is the perfect size. There are not really any bad seats in the house. Arrive early and watch the charming pre-show horseback rides for the children and also the birthday honors bestowed upon anyone (no matter their age) celebrating their birthday. This year's show is dedicated to the late Cristel Zembach Krone. Although she is no longer with us, her beloved horses certainly are!
