Follow that with the Best of the Beatles, a Beatles themed show that's been on the air for 25+ years. Next, the Hillbilly Hayride, where Hank Harrison spins the country and western hits of yesteryear. Next, the Blues Hour, which always makes me depressed. KSYM is incredible. They're always giving away tickets and albums. You can actually win these call in contests, because not as many people have discovered KSYM as opposed to one of those Clear Channel stations. It's great that they let the students pick the music. You can get some weird songs, but at least they're always fresh, and hip. I love you KSYM!

I'm just going to say I don't enjoy it like I use to. That's the sad truth. In the 80's it was everything you could ask for. Now its changed forever. Its not real bad. They still got some good songs. But would you actually call something from the mid 80's or early 90's oldies? I wouldn't. Not quite. Loved Kono at one time. & still listen to it today. Just hoping to hear at least one of the songs I use to hear. & if they play any of those songs its mostly on the weekends when count down the greatest hits or whatever. It'll never be the same. I'm sorry to say.

When my family were young we would actually Christmas Carol door to door at Christmas time. There is a large local family who has Christmas carolled all over Huntsville, visiting local business which was always so fun to see! When Momma was in Assisted Living it was an absolute delight to have church youth groups sing Christmas Carols to everyone in her home! It just wouldn't be Christmas without Chrismtas songs. Sure, there are some lousy Christmas songs like "All I want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth" and another non favorite is "The Twelve Days of Christmas." "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" makes me cringe, as does "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause." These songs likely resonate with some. "Silent Night" is a favorite as is "Oh, Holy Night!" We are getting in the Christmas spirit around here and just put the Christmas tree up yesterday! Bring on the Christmas tunes and I hope everyone has a truly merry Christmas!

My seek button landed me on KTXI 90.1 and I listened to Texas Public Radio for an hour or so today. Interesting discussions of local, state-wide and national news including some chat about the Starbucks in San Antonio voting to unionize (good luck!) and some local politicians taking both sides of the redistricting maps. 14 Aug 2023 Since…read moreretirement, I look for volunteer opportunities. Owl Radio provides live and recorded radio broadcasts to those folks who are blind or otherwise visually-impaired. They access the broadcasts through a provided special receiver, the website or the Owl Radio app. I was trained today in the art of the live broadcast. There are two studios: one for live broadcasts, the other where recordings can be made and played later. Recordings can be of magazines, book reviews, sports, the topics can be endless. I observed and then they asked if I would read a couple of newspaper articles. Hell,yeah! The Express-News is read live from 9 - 11am. Prior to 9am, the team had already cut and divvied up the articles to the team members. A team of two reads the first hour, then a second team reads the second hour. I was with team two. These ladies have been a team for about four years, so, so I was learning from veterans. They alternate articles, so no one is reading constantly. I read the Heloise column and a San Antonio Story about a local teacher. It was a rush! Gerri actually stated on air that I was new and did a great job. Very humbling and appreciated. I am now an official live on-air substitute! I will do some recordings from home in the meantime. This is a very noble organization providing such a needed service.
