Let me tell you Yelpers a story about a girl from Texas who lives in Lyon. This girl moved here…read morefrom Austin, TX - a vegetarian's heaven - and was extremely disappointed by most food she was offered at restaurants. Her standards began to drop. She became concerned that fresh, flavorful, vegetarian food was something only to be found in her kitchen from here on out. But then she stumbled upon Big Fernand, completely by accident, and had an epiphany. A delicious, delicious, epiphany. At the bottom left of the front page of Big Fernand's menu, you will see an entry title "Le Lucien". It is advertised as the "burgetarian": a portobello mushroom, with Tomme cheese, sundried tomatoes, pickled onions, chives, and a cocktail sauce. It is served on a fresh-tasting bun with sesame seeds and actually comes with 2 portobello mushrooms for extra thickness. The sauce did not taste like what I consider "cocktail sauce" (that red stuff you dip shrimp in), but whatever it was was tasty. And there was so much cheese - between the two mushrooms (to hold them in place, I assume,) and more on top. Divine! The portobello mushroom "burger" was something I was definitely missing over here. I ordered the menu, (of course,) so I got fries and a drink - all for 13€. The drink I ordered was a Ginger Orange Bionade - a malt beverage (with no alcohol - just deliciousness.) And then there's the fries. SEASONED FRIES, Y'ALL. I didn't think I would ever taste seasoned fries again in my life. Wait, let me say it again. THEY HAVE SEASONED FRIES. That felt good. I devoured the perfectly crisp and flavored little potatoes, dipping some in the "bbq sauce" they gave me (which did not look anything like the bbq sauce I'm used to but tasted just like it somehow!) So five stars for an amazing vegetarian lunch experience, complete with the attention of the entire staff who were all very friendly and even wrote "Texas Forever" on my burger wrapper. You guys rock. I'll be back.

This is the burger house we had originally meant to go to on our first day in Lyon... Better late…read morethan never I say. The burgers here were tasty and perfectly cooked. They were a bit pricey but nothing out of the ordinary for a gourmet style burger. Just wish France would start importing some ketchup... Those fries were delicious but so much better with a bit of Heinz if you know what I mean...

These young, up and coming chefs and restaurants in Lyon, surrounded by Michelin start restaurants,…read moreare turning up some really good food and Les Frangins is no exception. The food - They make everything in house. Nothing is refrigerated so everything is made fresh daily. The burger I got, the Classic Bacon Burger, is one of the, if not the best, burger I have had so far. Here's the kicker. While their burger is that good, the fries is probably one of the worst I've had. The fries were soggy and not crunchy, like what happens to potatoes when it's fried in oil that's not hot enough. It boiled in oil, not fried. Everything else is really good. Bun is good and not like "white bread" and mushy. Patty is good, not too thick, too juicy, not greasy, with good seasoning. The lettuce was green and crunchy. The onions we're caramelized well. The sauces were really nice and flavorful. Ketchup and mayo were even made in house. But those soggy fries... man. They just need to get some good crispy fries and it would have been a perfect meal. Otherwise, the burger is great. Five stars because of that. The Place - Typical of EU restaurants, it's small. The Service - It was good. Soggy fries came out pretty late in the meal. I was halfway through my burger before it came out. I think fries should come out with burger. It's like getting your sides halfway through eating your main meal. Overall, even with the soggy fries, I would still recommend going to Les Frangins for their burgers. I'd like to go back a few years from now to see them still there, hopefully have grown, and with crispy fries.

The vegetables were fresh and there was ketchup and cheese on my classic burger but no flavours stood out. It just tasted one note. It was fine for a burger just not my style. Fries are extra 2.50 with a choice of a dipping sauce. The blue cheese one is the best flavour. Fries were a bit on the soggy side, could be crisper. This place has two floors and no air conditioning and no outdoor seating. So it was a bit hot sitting on the second floor on a 30 degree day. Staff was super friendly and one guy spoken enough English to answer our questions. Lots of fun pop and hip hop songs playing in English so it felt like I was dining in North America instead of France. It's kind of like a Brooklyn hipster burger joint. Nice guys.

Why does Guy & Sons get five stars?…read more They make a damn good burger, that's why. The classic burger is juicy and under 10€. (Fancier burgers cost more, but not every burger place makes a plain old burger this tasty.) Fries cost 2,50€ extra, but one side was more than enough for two people. Also, they are really nice, and they were playing my favorite tunes the whole time they were there. I heart good tunes. En gros : Je kiffe le burger et la musique.
