Initial Review: I removed a former review, but finding it wise to put it back up for any females seeking a healthy therapeutic connection with this particular Dr-- the 2nd mentioned.
I had a mixed experience at this practice. One therapist (I'll call him Dr. X) genuinely helped me. I came in dealing with anhedonia, and grief. Despite seeming very burnt out at the time, he was brilliant, kind & compassionate. Over a few months he helped restore my sense of aliveness, self-appreciation, and energy. That part was real and valuable and I'm going strong now! I left feeling more like myself again.
The second therapist was a completely different story. We never connected despite three attempts. He later accused me of "flirting" or "fawning" behavior-complimenting his smile to get on his good side? Ha!- I am Very generous with encouraging others & occasional compliments where helpful- which I do regularly to anyone!
I am a woman who is clear about my own boundaries and orientation (in the hetero population); he is openly queer/gay. The accusation was not only false, it was ridiculous. I addressed it directly with him and with the practice management at the time but I don't know if the Manager sent him the email mssg. This experience definitely left a "sour taste" in my gut.
If you are a woman looking for a solid therapeutic fit, go in with clear eyes and trust your own read of the connection. The guy just Never "got" me. He helped with a few dream interpretations, clinically (not spiritually nor emotionally & was Cold As Ice a few times! Blech! Not what I paid for.
He relied on Rigid, Robotic, clinical check-boxes (my experience and how impressive, Dr. MT Roll-eyes) As well, his academic Jargon like 'cognitive dissonance' which overall didn't really apply!
As to you all, You be self aware when opening your mind/heart to any therapist! I was intially concerned he wouldn't connect easily with women --my initial concern and not meant as a stereotype because he is "queer" admittedly. I know and love others who are gay & so any accusation in that category of me having bias against that population is Bogus, specifically one within a large practice, qualified to practice! My personal conclusion is he Miscalculated due to his Own implicit Bias (didn't really like women/Didn't really respect them, I dunno).
I'm talking highly educated psychologists vs. compassion and being tuned in beyond his own filters- PhD doesn't equal character, connection, compassion or high emotional intelligence! No Thank You!
What I Would add is that Dr. RollEyes had an apparent, uncontrollable orbital (around the eyes/muscles) twitch. This in itself shows 'cognitive dissonance,' like he was fighting a feeling or a thought or was quite nervous (wink)...if you think about it. So I could surmise that his terminology was actually the projection of this clinician (is that as human as he gets?).
As well, the clinic's administration also left a Lot to be desired - very strange. Once, they were soo disorganized- telling me one counselor was not available, all slots filled; then, very suddenly and randomly, there were 5 slots open. Give us a Break!
To You: If you are a woman looking for intuitive, Respectful, ethical and Genuinely Connected care, avoid the international telehealth provider(s) on this roster. I'm all for counseling in any situation to any degree! It shows emotional intelligence & health to pursue & receive it & thereby gain from it; although now, I'm more on the cautious side because in straightforward honesty, Psychologists Can Be so freaking Weird! Yikes!
Last thoughts: Remain self-aware, Know and maintain your own boundaries. Never allow any psychologist or XMan-Laser Psyche-Dissector superpower to go anywhere mentally/emotionally with you unless he or she explains precisely what they're doing, and if you don't know, Ask so you know Why you're being asked those specific questions. They Should Tell you!
NOTE: BTW, Please keep in mind that this Practice absolutely, Definitely seems more interested in their own financial gain to protect their revenues over patient safety. That's a one-star (tho I put at least 2 stars because of Dr. X), but this about Krupnick is also a detractor from any healthy therapist there because of the disorganization at the time of the office staff. Again, No Thank You! read more
