We had a serious issue with pill mills in the past, and I would like to think those days are over…read more After one visit to this place, I'm not so sure. To begin with, I arrived early for my visit so I could fill out their ridiculous amount of paperwork. On it were the obligatory questions about the pain I was in, but no one seemed concerned with what I put down, as they kept referring to other things that were not bothering me. Also, when I made the appointment, I specifically asked for Dr. Amin, but I never saw him. I filled out the paperwork and sat in the annoying waiting room where the television is entirely too loud and on a continuous loop of ads. Nothing else. I wished there was a remote out there so I could turn it off, but that would show true concern for the patients and you won't find that here. I finally was brought in to the madness of the back, and Michael, the nurse (I'm not sure if he's actually a nurse but I don't think he's a physician's assistant and I know he's not a doctor) could not have been nicer. If this review was about him, it would be five stars. He was the only one I met who actually listened to me. Next came the PA. This could either stand for Physician's Assistant or Pain in the Ass, you can decide for yourself. She was a nightmare. She apologized for the amount of time I had to wait, but she had to go outside because her car was hit. Which is saying to the patient that her car is more important. That gives you an idea of the caliber of the practice. Finally the doctor came in. He stood across the room and recited to me what his PA had written down, incorrectly, which completely threw him off because he had already decided on the the diagnosis and course of treatment (all with drugs) before he walked in the room. He never examined me, he stood with his back against the door and never entered any further into the room. I now know how lepers must feel. He prescribed several medications for me, which is why I started feeling like I was in a pill mill. Then he told me he would call in another prescription, and that pharmacy would call me to make arrangements. I was also to have an MRI. Finally, something that made sense. His office would arrange that and the MRI office would call me to schedule. I also had to give them a urine sample, but for the life of me, I don't know why. I gave it to them. I have yet to hear anything more about it. I was shown to the front desk where the receptionist immediately tried to book my next appointment. I informed her that I couldn't very well do that since I hadn't had the MRI yet, which completely threw her off. I patiently explained to her (maybe not so patiently) that I had to have an MRI and that her office was going to call the MRI place and let them know what the were scanning, and once that was done, then I would call and make the next appointment. I'm guessing she gets paid on how many appointments she makes because she was not happy. Several weeks later I received a letter in the mail from some company that claimed they had been trying to call me (even though I never got a phone call from them) to finalize the medication. I checked and it's a medication that is NOT covered by my insurance, and I can only guess that Dr. Macek gets a kickback from the drug company, because I cannot come up with another reason why he would prescribe this for me, particularly since he still had not examined me. Oh, and the MRI? Well, it's been over a month and I still have not heard from anyone about that. As I said, this made me think I was in a pill mill and nothing has happened since change my opinion. In reading the reviews on here, it seems that most patients are very happy with Dr. Amin. I cannot understand why I was not put on his schedule when I specifically asked for him, but I was not. Sadly, I'm not willing to give this place another chance.

I'm not sure if she knows how useless the rest of the staff is in general, or if she's just aware of the messages I've left the past three weeks begging for a prescription refill, but she was kind enough to offer immediate assistance. Besides that, I've been hung up on twice before I could even say "Hello" and if you leave a message, they will NOT call you back or help you. It's a shame that there are probably one or two good admins there that are being held back by the rest of their miserable and untrained staff. The other reviewers are correct: the staff here is rude and unprofessional…read more When my mother originally called to make her first appointment, the person on the phone was rude and demanded she bring physical medical records. When my mother mentioned no other specialist had ever asked for this, the staff member snapped, "How do you expect the doctor to know what's wrong?" We showed up for that appointment only to find she wasn't in the system at all. Staff repeatedly told us, "He is not here. He is on vacation. He will be back in 3 weeks." Because they kept saying "he," and her primary care doctor specifically referred her to Dr. Christian Gonzalez, we were led to believe she would be seeing him today. Today, June 30, my mother went inside first while I parked. When I walked in, I asked the receptionist on the right to join my mother. This receptionist was polite, asked my mother's name, and asked the staff behind her what room my mom was in. No one replied. She told me to sit and wait. Absolutely no one made any effort to follow up, knock on a door, or try to take me to my mother. I only got in because my mother eventually opened the waiting room door herself to look for me so I could speak to the doctor. When I asked why I was left waiting, staff made an excuse about doors being locked and not being allowed to ask. Once inside, I realized the doctor was female. I asked my mother if she spoke Spanish, and my mother said no. This office failed us in three major ways today: They switched my mother from her referred doctor (Dr. Gonzalez) to a non-Spanish speaking female doctor with zero advance notice. The staff member tasked with interpreting for my mother was in a terrible mood and gave her an attitude. The front desk made no effort whatsoever to bring me to my mother when I arrived. When I asked to speak to the office manager, they acted like they didn't hear me. A rude receptionist sitting on the left side of the desk abruptly asked if we needed to make an appointment and motioned for us to step right in front of her, clearly just wanting us out of the front desk area. My mom pointed to the girl who was writing something out for us. The rude receptionist asked that girl if she was helping us, and the girl confirmed she was writing up a test that needed to be done. That left-side receptionist was beyond rude. I asked again if there was an office manager or supervisor available, and was told "no" by the girl who was doing the writing. I insisted there has to be a medical supervisor or someone in charge, and again, she said no. I asked about a woman I saw dressed in office wear, but that lady stated she was the medical researcher. By the time we went to the front to get the next appointment date, the rude receptionist had suddenly changed her tune. Once outside the doctor's office, my mom reiterated how poorly they behaved and how she wished I had been there to talk to the doctor. That is when she told me about the attitude of the staff member who was writing the prescription and translating. My mother had to tell her, "If you're in a bad mood, I'll just wait for my daughter to come here to translate," which finally got her to drop the attitude. On their website, they claim "SWCA is built on a culture of empathy," and list their Core Values as: Be a good human Be professional Do the right thing Work together No excuses, get it done It looks like their staff needs to have this plastered on the walls throughout their office, because they did none of this. But this place is got a good potentials, initially. The staff were extremely nice and friendly. We did not get to see the doctor in the initial visit. But somehow due to some unforeseen circumstances, we were denied at first. After pleading with the staff we were then allowed to get the blood work done. It's weird to me because we always get our blood work done. In the same annual physical visits. We never had to "request" for this service. Oh well, not all the offices were as nice as our previous doctor. Probably will still go back for our next annual check ups.
