Can't believe it took me 13 years to visit this place! Good size to spend a couple of hours, plenty to see and lots of variety! Good for families or a fun solo outing. Plus it's a great way to warm up and enjoy some greenery in the middle of winter. Would return. read more

Loved this place! There were a couple of different places to walk through, including a desert area and orchid area. Their gift shop did leave something to be desired, but the flowers and displays were really cool! read more

Cheap, quick, beautiful way to kill some time in Cincinnati. Would return for other exhibits.

Smaller than the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago but well maintained and has lots of tropical and desert plants to see. It's a nice place to visit if you want to experience a bit of Florida or Arizona in Cincinnati in winter :) In addition, you can enjoy the nearby outdoor parks and city vistas from the hill when it's warmer. read more

Krohn Conservatory is a must for locals and tourists alike. It is absolutely beautiful inside - even if you aren't a plant enthusiast. I am not sure if the set up is permanent or changes periodically- but when I visited there was a spring room, a desert room, a bonsai room, and then the large open areas filled with plants galore. I spent a couple of hours here since I have to read every single sign. I think two hours is plenty of time to see everything and not feel rushed. I know they have special events and their big butterfly exhibit, which is a large incentive to return. Additionally - a great spot for creatives to visit. The photo opportunities are top notch. Just make sure to follow the posted rules. read more

Amazing gem of a place! Small but we'll worth the entry price of $10. An hour is a reasonable time to stay without rushing, probably can stretch to 2 hrs if you really read everything and take it slow. So many great things to learn from the labels and infographics about historical plants. read more

Such a cool place. Seriously, every time I come I feel like I'm transported to an oasis. You don't always have to leave town to "get away." Explore your own city. I like to come for the butterfly show specifically. A great time solo, on a date or with family. Parking can be tricky depending on the time of day. I really appreciated that a black artist was incorporated with the butterfly show this year. The juxtaposition with the sculptures was lovely. read more

Beautiful conservatory and nice Christmas exhibit! They had three rooms of botanical gardens and an outdoor nativity scene with live goats. One of the rooms had some neat miniature replicas of buildings around the Cincinnati area. The $10 per person admission seems a little pricey but it is beautiful inside. We were at the conservatory for about an hour walking through. It's definitely worth a visit and I'd recommend going over Christmas! read more

I was looking forward to this place cause I love gardens but I was kinda disappointed. For the admission price it doesn't feel worth the experience. It's basically 4/5 rooms, 4 main environments and 1 room that seems to be a changeable display area. I've been to larger botanical gardens that were free that were more beautiful. It's a nice garden, it just doesn't seem worth it for the price. read more

Saving my Christmas Day review for my favorite spot in Cincinnati: Krohn. Please come here atleast once in your life. Tranquil is an understatement. There's often a special exhibit such as the infamous Butterfly Show or Christmas Train display. Check their website for special events, too. Andddd you can get married here! Ugh so perfect. If the lot is full, you can park on the street or up in Eden Park for a short walk under the bridge to the large greenhouse. I suggest taking a walk through both ends of Eden Park, mirror lake and the overlook. Krohn is nestled in between. Admission is free unless there's a special exhibit which typically ranges around $6. You can also find coupons for $1/off admission on their website. I highly recommend bringing your kiddos here to check out the exotic florals, waterfall and koi ponds. This is a spot you can bring your kids or spouse or come by yourself. A wonderful place to just chill out, relax, feel the warmth and take in some fresh oxygenated air. There's a small gift shop with cool trinkets and depending on the season, they also sell some plants up front. Go enjoy Krohn and the park nearby! read more

A nice little spot to get lost for an hour for less than $10. Me and the boyfriend were staying in an Airbnb within walking distance to Eden Park so we took a nice little stroll down to Krohn. Are there bigger conservatories out there? Sure. But for the price this place is definitely worth it. Nice selection of exotic fruit trees, desert plants, and lots and lots of tropical life. I really enjoyed the waterfall room, definitely did not feel like I was in dreary snowy gray Ohio... There seemed to be a lot of cute things to do with your kiddos (if you have them) too which is always nice to see, especially when it concerns nature. I was so tempted to try out some of the offerings I was looking around for a stray kid to borrow- just kidding of course! Architecture of the building is gorgeous and all of the staff was super helpful! Keep an eye out for the gnomes in each exhibit as a fun little treat. read more

I came here recently with my fiancé and I can't believe it took me so long to come here! We were lucky to come during the butterfly exhibit and it was truly spectacular. The staff here clearly care deeply about the plants and animals in the exhibit and it is a true pleasure to be in. As a side note - during the butterfly exhibit, I would strongly recommend refraining from bringing babies into the exhibit. In the short time that I was in there, I saw at least one or two babies try to grab and almost kill the butterflies. Candidly, some of the adults were no better and were constantly trying to scoop up the butterflies off trees with the landing pads (which is NOT what they are for - they are to make the butterflies get off of your person or have a place to land near you, they are not to disturb the butterflies). If you go, please respect the wildlife. read more

October 2022 We only spent about 30 minutes here. It was nice but parts were closed off. Tons of beautiful plants to look at. We only got to see a portion of the bonsai trees. The butterfly room is closed for the year I believe. It only cost $7 per person. It was still worth going to if you're a fan of plant life. read more

While I was hoping to make it to Krohn Conservatory during their butterfly show, their Tuscan Garden summer show did not disappoint. The room transports you to a small garden in Tuscany and is truly breathtaking. Every small detail in the garden is taken into account from the statues to the string lights and obviously the plants themselves. It was so cool to see familiar fruits such as limes and grapefruits growing from the trees above me. I was particularly impressed though by the Conservatory's Tropical and Palm Houses. I genuinely felt like I was exploring a rainforest! I was surrounded by vines, trees, fish, and plants that I had never even heard of before. My favorite was obviously the "Chocolate Tree." I also highly recommend exploring the ground of Krohn as well. While I was unable to make it to the Butterly Show, they had a Butterly garden outside of the Conservatory and there were butterflies everywhere! I was only left more excited to return back next Spring for the show. read more

Krohn Conservatory has been one of my absolute favorite places for 35+ years! I've always loved their Christmas display inside, and the Nativity scene outside. It's so unique and artistic. The Nativity is beautiful, and very life like. It was a family tradition, before I got married and had my own daughters, to go with my parents to the Christmas display, and on Easter morning to the spring display. The displays change throughout the seasons so, it's always fun to see what every month brings. I love seeing the Butterfly Show in the spring. It's truly amazing to see hundreds of gorgeous butterflies dancing through the air. And when they land on you, it's even better. As a teenager, I'd visit every Sunday, and just sit and admire what I was seeing. I love standing by the waterfall. It's so peaceful. If you've never been to Krohn, I definitely recommend a visit. read more

I love this place so much I came almost 1,000 miles and proposed here! I grew up in the Cincy area and our family came down regularly for cultural visits on weekends. My parents strongly believed that visits to the zoo, the art museum, the natural history museum, parks, places like Krohn, and other things made you a well-rounded adult. I love that they did that. We came here on field trips, as well. I also worked down this way (actually worked on a couple of the greenhouses here!) once upon a time in my late teens/early 20s and did some of my college courses nearby. Krohn became a place of solace for me. I loved walking around and my favorite was the waterfall. They have many exhibitions throughout the year and the butterfly show is my favorite. Their calendar has a ton of stuff to do. I can't stress enough how nice it would be to bring your family here. It doesn't take a long time, but you can go as slow as you want. There is a lot to see and learn. Find an event that meets your family's likes and come! When I was dating my wife, I brought her "home" to meet my family who she hadn't already met and all of my oldest friends. I had secretly also decided to propose to her and had chosen the waterfall at Krohn as the location. She obviously said YES and I'm so glad one of my favorite spots is forever linked to my life. I had friends hiding along the path to quietly ask people to hang back for a second (we also went on a relatively quiet Sunday morning specifically for lighter crowds) and another friend hiding to take photos. My now-wife was delighted and completely surprised. She loves telling the story and always mentions how Krohn was a perfect spot. Every time we come back home, we stop in and re-visit our spot in front of the waterfall. read more

The place had a good layout and lots of things to keep the kids engaged (wooden carvings, hidden elves, trains, a room with coloring books and crayons, etc.). Their Christmas decorations were great to look at, and the ornaments were crafted from wood. Outside, there was a nativity scene with live donkeys and more decorations. The price was good and we probably stayed 2-3 hours. read more

I was so thrilled to attend the 25th annual Butterfly Show with my niece and nephew! I appreciate that in these times they're still conscious because of COVID and making sure safety measures are taken. When you enter the butterfly area, you're given a fake flower to hold, meant to attract the butterflies so you can get a closer look. The butterflies and the flowers/plants from Bali were all beautiful! The staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely continue to visit in the future! read more

A lovely conservatory nested in a picturesque corner of Eden Park. The surroundings are so so pretty, I love the pink and white blooming trees corner opposite the Krohn, where often times in the spring/summer weddings and photo shoots take place. They also restored a large sun clock outside, that is decorated seasonally with flowers and such. Naturally, the surroundings are completely free of charge and you can easily make it a long walk, through the Eden Park pond, the old Water Tower and even to the new and amazing Art Climb leading to the Art Museum. I like all the new developments in Eden Park and how more attractive it has become. For a small fee, you can enter the Conservatory and immerse yourself in a warm, jungle like short walk through exotic plants. What they are mostly popular for are special events, like seasonal and holidays shows, butterfly shows or even fun dinners and tastings throughout the season, with specially curated pre-paid menus. Something to take advantage of is their annual poinsettias sale. They have the Winter show every year and afterwards sell the poinsettias for a small fee. This Covid-19 year was understandably dull and they had to cancel the shows, so the poinsettias were sold before Xmas. I grabbed some, beautiful and so nicely packed in long paper sleeves! Way better quality than in a supermarket and a steal! Keep Krohn in mind when looking for a fun and educational place to hang out with kids or with your date! read more

Serenity in the middle of a busy city. Cincinnati is lucky to have this beautiful space in the Krohn Conservatory. It's a little pricey for the admission but they rely on that to stay open. They do different events through out the year, such as the seemingly popular Butterfly Show which is running now. You are given the opportunity to be in an area full of different species of Butterfly, that may choose to perch on you. Waterfalls, tropical trees, and even a few birds. Come here when you want to escape... Preferably on a weekday, as it's less crowded. read more

Really pretty place! I love looking at plants & flowers so this place was very enjoyable in my opinion. My group went during the Holiday programming where there were also some events to do in the meantime such as ornament making & special displays. I think it is a great place to bring families! It's kind of on the small size and not as big as the conservatory in Columbus but still nice to look at nonetheless. read more

I have been a fan of Krohn Conservatory since I was a small child. I've taken my children when they were younger and now I take my grandson. We visit the Christmas exhibit every year, as well as the Butterfly exhibit. This year the butterfly exhibit wasn't as nice as previous years. There were less butterflies and there wasn't much decor related to the country they were featuring. Also, areas were blocked off this year that haven't been in previous years. That made the exhibit even smaller than it usually is and prevented access to viewing many butterflies. But if you like plants this is a nice place for a short visit. read more

I absolutely adore this conservatory. I have been here several times in my life. However, my recent trip was my first time as an adult as I have lived in Florida since I was 15. I wanted to stop in and see the butterfly show. The most important thing you need to know is that it will be HOT in the Conservatory. I would dress light and be prepared to sweat. It would probably be best to come in cooler months. I didn't have that luxury and sweated like crazy in June. The Conservatory did not disappoint! There were hundreds of beautiful butterflies in the exhibit. I was able to grab some gorgeous photos of many different types. The trick is to sit still and let them come to you. Please do not touch the butterflies. It was crowded in the Conservatory, but I was still able to have many precious individualized interactions. I even had a butterfly to land on me. The only thing I didn't really like was that they give you vanilla scented cards that are supposed to attract the butterflies. They didn't really explain how to use the cards. I saw people swatting the cards at the butterflies trying to get them to land on them as they flew. I also saw a little girl pick up a butterfly that had crash landed using the card and she hurt it farther. There were a lot of dead butterflies around and I wander how many were killed by human ignorance. Anyways, the conservatory also has a lot of trees, flowers and other wildlife. There was a turtle lounging in a pond. A beautiful waterfall. I giggled at the Banyan trees and Palm trees that I have everywhere at home in Florida. It was nice to see a piece of home here. Overall, it was a great experience. I will visit again next time I am in town. read more

This review is for the butterfly exhibit that happens every year in the Spring. I had never been to the Krohn Conservatory before, but when unpredictable Cincinnati spring weather called for rain, we decided to spend it inside at the Conservatory and I'm so glad we did! The butterfly exhibit was super beautiful and just a really nice way to spend a Sunday morning. I recommend getting there right at 10am when they open because it was getting really busy by the time we left the butterfly area at 10:45am. Tickets are $7 per adult to get in for the butterfly exhibit, which is a little pricey for what you get, but I still felt was worth it to see the butterflies. There were lots of kids here, and plenty of employees to answer any questions and teach you all about the butterflies. If you're an amateur photographer, I recommend coming here with your camera and trying to get some good photos. The butterflies are beautiful, but they also have really nice flowers and landscaping and a waterfall inside. It's a beautiful place to take portraits, but it can get busy. FYI they don't allow you to use camera tripods. read more

Gorgeous, Art Deco conservatory perfect for a local or a traveler! Krohn features lovely architecture, luscious plants, and interesting (& educational exhibits ). The holiday show, Poinsettia Express, opened this weekend and runs through the end of December. The same company that makes the amazing structures for the National Botanical Garden's annual holiday show created Cincinnati-themed ones for the conservatory. Buildings and train tracks built out of twigs, pods, acorns, and fungi are phenomenal. The Krohn's special exhibits are great for kids and adults alike. I have visited several times and have always enjoyed! Beautiful and nice when the weather isn't great to be outdoors. HOWEVER, our last visit we (my 9 month old and myself) arrived at 3:20 and they would not let us even step into the lobby to wait until 4:00 for the next ticket time, even though it was pouring down rain outside. We have had to wait a few minutes for admission previously, but now they are on the hour admission ONLY, and the only place this is posted is online if you go to buy a ticket (which I have never done - always purchased in person). Was not thrilled with the customer service, we drove half an hour to go and had to turn right around and go home because there was no where for me to sit with the baby in the entrance?? Needless to say the hour round trip drive made for a cranky baby and annoyed mom. I would love to visit again but after that experience and being treated that way I may find somewhere else to spend our time. read more
