This Kroger has been a staple in the midtown community for as long as I can remember. It had been a while since I've been there, but it still has the same welcoming vibe. I was so elated to see that they had courtesy water at the door for shoppers in the extremely hot Memphis weather. The lines were not super long. I found exactly what I was looking for, so I was satisfied. No, this Kroger does not have all of the amenities that some the newer location does, but they have what you need.

The attached product was sold at Kroger's on Poplar off of Cleveland. Whatever you do, strongly consider what you put into your body. Examine your meats for dark spots, discoloration, gradients in color, pus, infected spots, and mold. Bad food can do bad things, awful things, life-changing things; even worse, life-ending things. Shop where the reputation of the products sold are good. For your hard earned money, you deserve the best. In addition, the reduction in gross revenue may lead to a reduction-in-force and the trifling employees will be sent home where thru belong.

Shop here because it is close. If not for convenience, I might look elsewhere. There is an exterior makeover going on right now but it is not getting in the way of entering/exiting the building. The interior is typical Kroger. Fairly well organized and easy to locate items if you've ever shopped in a Kroger before. The parking lot is a reflection of the surrounding neighborhood. For most of the time, it is probably OK but there seems to be a slightly higher risk of an incident due to the larger numbers of homeless and loiterers in the parking lot.

No complaints. I had to go pick up some ice cream. Everything was clean and not nasty. I'll be over here another time if I am in the area.

I haven't been in this Medical Center Kroger since I lived in Harbor Town on Mud Island, but the major renovation since then included many upgrades that put this store back on the map. Today I was impressed by the # of Employees I saw working hard in every department. There was a definite energy buzz, as Shoppers briskly fanned the doors before the Dinner hour. There were Cashiers in nearly every Checkout station, aggressively scanning & sacking. A short line is a treat, especially when I just need a few things, & would like to be home before dark. "Waiting Time is WASTING Time" So my experience today made me appreciate a well-run store with motivated Employees who are not Slackers.

Inside is clean, has what you need in a Kroger and has Uscan. Outside is somewhat trashy but goes with the territory of the neighborhood; lots of vagabonds.Still don't get why the 'hood' Krogers like this one and the one on 3rd Street don't get the modernization and updates the other area Krogers get (for example: the one on Mendenhall just got an overhaul) and they're getting ready to build a new one at Poplar/Prescott

It has basically what you need, but it is not anywhere near as well kept as the Krogers in East Memphis.

Pharmacy staff is extremely rude, especially over the telephone. I would never use this location. Customer service is everything!

It looks fine on the inside, although it looks old on the outside and could use a little touchup there.

The deli is definitely one of the highlights, with sandwiches made fresh to order right in front of you. I always go for the club sandwich, and it's easily one of the best around. If you stop by during the second shift, make sure to see Omari. His sandwiches are amazing, and his customer service is just as great! The store is clean, well-organized, and has that warm, neighborhood feel that makes shopping there enjoyable. I also love that they have a dog bowl and water station outside on the patio for people who bring their pups. On weekends, they even have live bands that set up . Definitely check their calendar online for upcoming events!

The produce is consistently high quality, and the overall shopping experience feels curated and elevated compared to most grocery options in the area. The luxe atmosphere understandably comes at a premium, and while the pricing can be steep, I recognize that different operating models create different price structures. That said, the meat counter can be a little confusing. While most items are priced per pound, a few are priced per piece -- a distinction that isn't immediately clear unless you study every tag. I picked up a single filet that I later learned was $25 for what appeared to be roughly an 8 oz cut. Not ideal, but even high beef prices aren't enough to keep me away from a store with this kind of selection. What will give me pause, however, is the service I received at the meat counter. The attendant working that day -- identifiable by very prominent neck tattoos -- was one of the rudest employees I've encountered in any grocery store, let alone one where items can run $50 per pound. Her initial greeting was an abrupt "What do you want?" followed immediately by turning her back to me to joke with a colleague. When she finally returned, I pointed to the steak I wanted, and she deliberately picked up a different one while giving me attitude. The entire interaction was dismissive and unnecessarily unpleasant. On my way out, I mentioned the experience to the manager, and she was wonderful -- attentive, kind, and genuinely apologetic. She assured me she would address the situation, and based on her professionalism, I believe she will. I don't enjoy commenting on customer service in Memphis, but when a store operates at such a premium, the service really does need to meet at least a baseline standard. Neutral, polite, and minimally attentive shouldn't be too much to ask. I hope this was an isolated incident, because the store itself is exceptional.
