I was surprised to find it in the old Whisk'd location -- RIP to Whisk'd; I loved that restaurant. Street parking only but the street is quiet and it's easy to pop in and out. Inside there's a huge array of confections: classic chocolates like turtles, chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallows, etc., as well as fresh baked cookies and a somewhat startling amount of freeze dried candies. I know that's sort of having a moment right now, but WOW there was a lot of freeze dried stuff to choose from. I don't dislike it but I prefer chocolatey treats so I skirted around the big display. I came about 1.5 hours before closing and will admit the selection (other than freeze dried) was a little sparse. I'm glad they're not letting products go to waste, but in the future, definitely come early if you want to ensure you get everything. More than one customer asked/called in for something only to be turned away while I was shopping around. Of course, the holidays might also have something to do with very high demand. Anyway, I wound up leaving with two cookies (only about four varieties were available when I arrived -- I took a chocolate chip and a brown butter cookie), three chocolate covered pretzels, and one pecan turtle. The service was limited to being rung up at the cash register, but the employee was nice in our limited interaction. My husband and I enjoyed all the treats over the following days! The chocolate was smooth and rich on pretzels and pecans, the caramel chewy and satisfying. The pecans and pretzels were both crispy and fresh -- no problems with staleness here. The cookies were good, too, though perhaps a tiny touch oily. I liked the brown butter better but both were enjoyable! They're the perfect size to share. I'd definitely return here for sweets!

This particular Publix is just off of Interstate 65 in Decatur, Alabama. The staff was friendly and the store is nicely laid out and has a pleasant ambiance which makes shopping all the better. Publix has created a solid reputation by offering incredible customer service, great BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals, and no review of Publix would be complete without mentioning their subs, which are affectionately known as "Pub Subs." Coming from New Jersey, a state known for their great subs, in a way, it hurts me to state that a supermarket has some of the best subs in the area. But it is also a 100% true statement. Publix subs are very good. My go-to sub is probably their Italian sub, which is truly a tasty offering. I also enjoy their roast beef and cheese sub. I would definitely recommend upgrading it by using Boar's Head meat. It is definitely worth the small upcharge. I whipped in without hesitation - it was close to dinner time! I noticed the cute little porch and choice to go in that way rather than the front door. Walked in - and no barbeque! All I saw was pool tables and video games! Saw a door to the store and went in - still NO barbeque! I wandered around a looked; saw fishing supplies, and groceries, smoking apparatus, and a beer section - no restaurant looking area - and NO BARBEQUE. The clerk finished with her customer and asked if she could help. I told her I wanted/needed barbeque and asked, "Where is it?". She said, "RIght here". No menu, neither printed nor signage. I just said, "Pulled pork sandwich" and she convinced me I wanted a plate with two sides. Good thing that she did! I was in a weird mood, but Summer accommodated that weirdness and made me feel right at home - even changed the order to dining in (well, out on the front porch). Loved the sandwich and the sides (cole slaw and potato salad). I am not a lover of cole slaw outside of KFC, but here it was mighty fine! As was the potato salad -- and the barbeque. Summer even invited me back for the open mic night on Friday. Sounds like a fun time... maybe next week! Pretty sure I'll be returning for more barbeque sometime soon!!
