Ordering a Deli tray for a group of workers on Monday for a Friday lunch. I arrived at the store on Friday at the correct time. The person working the deli was chatting up a person in front of the counter. I waited then they went back behind the counter and told me just a few minutes while they cleaned the circular slicer. Then they asked what I wanted. I told them I was picking up an order that was promised to be ready at 11:30. They forgot to ask my name only telling me they were behind because they were short staffed. Never did they check to see if the order was ready just wandered around behind the counter. I sought management as I felt this was getting out of hand. After 30 minutes I asked what was going on as I had a deadline again "We're short staffed and behind on orders". I pointed out this was an order that was done on Monday. They began to ignore me. I sought out the manager again. I finally got in touch with management pointed out the poor service and delay that was now putting me up against the time wall. I pointed out that she shouldn't be seeing me as it was 30 minutes later and I was still waiting. The group I was delivering to had patients and meetings in the time frame and the clock had run out. Note they (Kroger) never asked my name nor checked to see if it was done. The deli clerk argued with me and I was no longer in the mood. The deli clerk offered me a refund for an Item I hadn't paid for yet. The folks I was delivering to were running out of time to eat. Finally the Store Manager asked my name and looked in the back and came out with a tray with condensation on it. This time my high school chemistry kicked in and it indicated it was in a cooler waiting to be picked up. I took the tray and was no charged for the order. This was Kroger at it's worse next to expired or past best buy dates on the shelves and there are a lot of those. Spending a sizable amount weekly there may not make a difference to them but I have choices and I will choose to go elsewhere or sever my ties with Kroger. read more

They had to call the "balloon" artist Kim, three times before she came to the desk. She took my already paid for balloons and went to blow them up and popped one Did not say sorry or get our money back or offer to do anything actually. Then as we were leaving, clearly We were annoyed, she said "Really" like we had done something wrong. read more

It was a nice experience at first. The two ladies manning the self checkout upon entering, welcomed me. The man that was maintenance was so happy to be working he said. He was super friendly and had a small conversation. It helped because I am in a melancholic mood because we lost our brother. At the end, I saw a young fellow collecting carts. I brought mine to him. I smiled. He just looked like he was mad. Didn't say thank you or nothing. He grabbed the cart and took off. My takeaway is it's a nice store...liked the maintenance guy and front end employees. Maybe the cart pusher was having a bad day, but you don't take it out on customers and be rude. read more

This store is the worst. The produce is hit or miss, and the lady who works in the produce department is the rudest person. I noticed her speaking to an elderly couple, extremely impatient and short with them and I tried to intervene, thinking she didn't understand them but no, she understood perfectly. She's just extremely a rude, cruel woman. The other Kroger is much better. read more

Been many times to this store (even though I live in Galveston!) my parental units live here and this is my hometown! Great variety throughout. Nice organic selections. That's a huge plus to me. Nice helpful staff Today's review comes mostly because of HURRICANE HARVEY ...and the fact that THIS KROGER KEPT the shelves stocked. As you shopped...they were re-stocking. I don't usually write a bad report but this one is actually interesting. Krogers Pharmacy Dowlen- I had a couple of prescriptions filled at 1 pm there. One more transferred prescription couldn't be filled at the same time so they told me to come back in a couple of hours. I went back in 7 hours and the clerk then told me it is currently being worked on and could I come back in 20 minutes? What in the world ??? Luckily I am transferring this medicine back to CVS (who is always on time ). I only used Krogers because I had a $50.00 grocery coupon to receive if I transferred a medication. They need all the help they can get if they can't fill meds in the time they tell you. Smh. ON a Positive Note - the Kroger clerk Mary on the earlier shift was awesome and very helpful. Update - clerk said they were on hold for 40 min with Walgreens to transfer the meds. They should have been on hold for 7 hours. Smh. Pharmacists just looked stupid at me when the clerk was talking to me. I went to find store manager - MIA. The assistant manager Debbie was as helpful as she could be. Kroger is hit or miss. HEB is definitely my grocery store of choice but Kroger has a money little organic/overpriced section to the right side once you enter the store. If you scope hard enough you can snag some slid deals on cereals like brands like Kashi and Myers cleaning supplies. I cruise through here to specifically look for deals and finish the critical shopping down the road at HEB where everything is better, right? read more

I'm a huge Kroger fan and have been shopping the Dowlen store for 18 years. I've been very disappointed in their produce section for quite some time. I've even gone to HEB for my produce and even Walmart!! I was just in there on Friday and when I got home realized that the brats that I purchased were out of date by almost a month. I don't live close to the store so it's a trip for me to take stuff back. This store really needs to be monitored better. read more

Every time i go every worker seems anxious to help assist you. The people in the meat and cheese dept are especially nice. Always friendly:) One downside would be they seem to run out of stuff pretty fast and do not replenish the item quickly. The other would be the guy scanning my groceries was practically throwing them down the conveyerbelt almost ruining some of them. Then the guy bagged them all into one and it ripped before i got to my car. I will not be returning if this is the way they are going to handle my food. read more

I used to go to this Kroger every Sunday for groceries until I decided driving to Houston's Whole Foods was the best option for better produce... I would spend 2+ hours in Kroger to inspect every piece of produce thoroughly because all produce at this location is molded/extremely soft. Even the "Organic" is bad. I could not make it to Houston this past weekend and decided to go to Kroger instead on Sunday.. This morning I reached into a brand new bag of organic oranges and found mold on the one I grabbed. Apparently spending 2 hours inspecting the produce is not even worth the effort because what I thought was a good looking bag of oranges ended up being a soft and moldy mess. Also, I tried finding green bell peppers worth purchasing for stuffed bell peppers and guess what? They were all extremely too soft and fragile to even grab. I ended up having to change my meal plan for the week due to bad produce... Surely Kroger makes enough money to give us a decent and fresh selection. read more
