Chaotic parking lot, filthy bottle return, surly and rude cashier. How in the world can this place be in business?

This Kroger is the worst and the one I detest going to the most but like others, it's closest to my home. I have my favorite store but I go to this one when I need something in a jiffy. Most of the time, they are under stocked, refrigerated items have sat in the isle. Sale prices fail to show on receipt (not the ones you have to clip). The cashiers there have TERRIBLE attitudes. Will dismiss you if they don't feel like engaging even when you have a legitimate gripe. The store could use consistent cleaning and the entire store smelled of bad fish on one visit. This store could easily be confused with a generic neighborhood grocery store and not a well known chain brand. read more

Used to go here for groceries all the time! Loved the remodel but have found myself going elsewhere more recently. Stopped by here for a few things on my way home the other day and the worker in the self check out area was extremely passive aggressive. Very dirty throughout the store. Selection is terrible. Staff seems overwhelmed, and the seafood, meat counter looks so gross. It's a mile from my home so I go out of necessity but really run down, worst of the worst Kroger. Wish we had something a bit better. read more

One of the smallest Kroger I have been. Ever since covid they are always short on eggs. Even Kroger brand eggs. Not a lot of international grocery, I guess they only have room for popular items. I have never met inconsiderate pharmacy staff at this Kroger on Middlebelt. There were two young ladies that I would always encounter. They never say Hi can I help you. The one young lady it took her five minutes to open up a plastic bag. The other young lady didn't acknowledge you. She left to wait on a deliver man. Didn't say I WILL BE RIGHT BACK WITH YOU, These are two African American young ladies. I am African American and this is not right. As much as I spend on meds, they could at least be more pleasant. The store was improving by having more stock, like the larger ones in FH, but it has gone backwards recently. The hours of customer service, bottle return, meat counter, etc are very limited and NOT posted. You learn that they can't service you by standing around and asking. Why have 2 sets of doors, 2 sets of self checkout, a customer service dept, bakery, & meat counter, if the hours are extra limited & inconvenient for customers? This morning, I went and as usual only 1 side of self checkout was open. I'm surprised both sides of the doors were open. There was also one regular checkout lane open, directly next to the self checkout. As a result, the lines were cluttered, running into each other & customers could barely walk thru. inconvenient. The other checkout side was closed, so it had all the room in the world. What about using judgement and opening the lane further away from self checkout to provide space for customers? The store is already small. Once they finally opened a 2nd lane, the cashier took the last person in line. He didn't ensure the next person in line was served promptly or fairly. I recommend staff training, providing service in both checkouts, bottle return, bakery, meat counter, etc during scheduled business hours, so those who live close by don't have to go to larger 8/Farm or 12/Halstead locations to obtain the services. read more

Customer Service desk has very strange hours. I've tried calling after five and am often on hold for five minutes or longer. They completely redesigned the recycling system. It seems rarely open. There is no external signage indicating if closed so I often waste time getting recyclables out of the car and into the store only to find the recycling center closed. If the customer service desk was staffed I could call and find out if recycling was open and avoid an unnecessary trip and go elsewhere. The Kroger employees are very polite and helpful and most know where items are when asked. The prices on Krogwr items are substantially higher than other markets. In spite of the convenient location, if I am looking for a one stop place to return recycling and shop Kroger is not the place I will shop for the time being. read more

Terrible store. Neighborhood deserves much better. Most staff are nice, but the store looks ugly and uninviting compared to other Krogers and grocers. There are lots of customers, but it almost appears that this Kroger is deliberately made second rate in its food, especially awful are its meat and bakery departments. Old and run down. Probably the worst Kroger store in southeastern Michigan. This part of Farmington Hills deserves much better. Selection is worse than any other Kroger store I've ever been to. They often run out of sale items and getting rain checks is difficult. Customer service desk is not open during all business hours. If you shop after 9pm, you are out of luck. They don't feel it's important to provide service for late night customers. Fish and deli counters also close early. Liquor selection is small and abysmal. read more

They just open and close money service area. Regardless of there being a line, the person in charge just tells you to come back in an hour. Mind you it 11 am on a Thursday. Some pple need to pay bills urgently and shouldn't have to come back for it to be convenient to the employee but the customer. Lazy employees for sure, but it's up to management to get them going. My nephew started working at Kroger on 11mile road in Farmington hills June 20, 2024. After not receiving his weekly paycheck he contacted the front desk associates, they said they could not help him. He called Corporate HR, they told him his check was sent to his CELL PHONE #. Literally mailed there, no such address: After much discussion and five phone calls to corporate office, because now there are two paychecks sent to cell phone address?? They got the home address right. HR stated the checks would be mailed after they received affidavits stating he did not receive them. After 2 more calls last being today 7/26/2024, they gave a fed-ex tracking number. Fed-ex delivered check to a TJ, TJ informed Judith he gave check to Manager. When front desk called Manager Matt Jenkins, he said it was on his desk and he was busy. Judith took him to back, got his check and cashed it for him. Finally got everything straight. He punched in today and the Manager Matthew Jenkins informed him he was terminated and there are no positions available in the store for him yet there are five signs in front of the store stating "Hiring up to $16.50 per hour inquire within." Whe he asked for termination letter and a reason, he said leave the store. He did not give him any paperwork. Maybe the reason there are so many complaints, the people in management are not qualified. read more

Pretty much almost everything about this Kroger is infuriating. The only reason I come here, like most posts I've seen, is because this is the closest grocery store to where I live. The most irritating thing is the fact that every, single, time I go to return bottles, the machines are full, they are out of order, or they don't even accept the bottles or cans I've purchased FROM THIS location. I've decided I won't be buying drinks from here anymore because I can't even properly return my bottles. The aisles are SO narrow too. I don't think full-sized carts should be allowed because people will stop in the middle of an aisle and it will be completely blocked because the aisles are so narrow a regular sized cart will take up almost the entire thing. I generally have had okay experiences at the self-checkout lanes, but there is an older lady sometimes who is in charge of them that will just outright ignore you. The other day she was wiping the checkout areas with alcohol wipes and just ignoring anyone around who needed assistance even after we said "excuse me." It's just unbelievable how terrible this store is and I will bet you upper management is a big reason for it. Whoever the manager of this store is needs to get things cleaned up in a big way or quit. Spending a day in hell would be more enjoyable than being in this Kroger for more than 5 minutes. read more

The aisles are too narrow, merchandise is even placed in the wide aisles in the frozen section so basically it makes the entire shopping experience a total frustration. I get it that Kroger's wants to sell more stuff but this is NOT the way to do it. I came here because of the proximity to my residence but more. I went to this Kroger on Monday evening about 6pm, prime shopping time for most families and there were about 10 packs of meat on the shelf that looked like this. It was VERY disturbing and unacceptable! The first young lady I asked about the products pointed to the meat counter and said the meat department is over there, she didn't apologize and she didn't say let me find someone to help you, until I asked her to go get someone. The manager did come and apologize but this was a major act of negligence and laziness and I will NOT be buying meat from this store at all. Made a terrible mistake of coming here during easter weekend. So naturally it was hectic. But I came with a cart full of empty plastic and glass bottles to return because I planned poorly that day. You don't do this on a holiday people. I should have known better!! All the recycle machines were full and two were out of order. I would have given this kroger a pretty low rating for not being prepared but the customer service was really nice. Once they realized what's going on (people started lining up outside) the maintenance crew fixed the issue within 15 minutes. Despite how chaotic it was, the staff were friendly to get me in and out as quickly as possible. Overall this is a pretty busy location. So plan accordingly! read more

The customer service is 0 on the scale from 1-10. I visited this location to order a cake. I was there at the bakery counter for about 5 mins and not was showing up, so said I lady in the deli department was any one working at the bakery. She tells me there not here, ok I'm like are they coming back? She's going to ask. She will be back after she takes out the garbage, so I wait . I do not understand how these cashiers still have a job. They are so unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Jean and Dream have never said a kind word to us in the many, many times either of them have checked us out over the last seven years. Seven YEARS, people. If I treated customers his way, I'd be fired--but I don't actually WANT to be mean, miserable, slow, and rude. I shop at this Kroger only because it's near my home...but more and more I find myself opting for Meijer instead. You're so much better off driving an extra 10 minutes to the Kroger in 12 Mile and Haggerty. Or skipping Kroger altogether and heading to Meijer. Their cashiers are much kinder. read more

I walk to this Kroger since it's 5 minutes from my house. Time after time, the workers seem very sad and mad they have to work, or work there? The veg/fruits seem OK to good in selection but the meat/fish is meh at most. What really grinds me is the lack of great bread options like a baguette that other Krogers sell, but this one keeps it low grade for poor customers? And my other anger is on target....I asked the Manager a few months back why they are no longer stocking Private Selection Chocolate Ice Cream and he said because corporate doesn't want it there. They want all this jam packed flavors but not chocolate. HOW IN THE WORLD can this kroger stock 3 types of Private Selection vanilla but not one good ole plain chocolate? read more

It is time to downgrade my review. Actually, this downgrade is well past its due date. To be blunt, this Kroger is a shithole. I avoid it at all costs. I will rather drive to Southfield, Livonia, Northville, West Bloomfield, the moon, for basic groceries instead of the mile to this crackden of a Kroger for the basics. And the shitty thing is, I'll randomly stop here once every few months for something quick, thinking that this place can't get any worse than it already is...but guess what? It is. It wasn't until my last visit that I realized that (grocery store) hell actually exists; and so close to my house! How about that?!!? Oh, and I'm totally done with the pharmacy. The pharmacy here was this store's only saving grace....nope not any more. The cool pharmacist is long gone. The rest suck, they are completely rude and short during any exchange and they always manage to make me wait for ever because they are still trying to figure out their stupid computer system (circa 1992). Store has been remodeled and same as any other kroger in area. Use to be scary before the remodel. Decent sized organic produce and meats. Always seems packed and lined up at check out with all registers open. read more

This Kroger used to get all my business simply because it's the closes to where I live. I've now decided I don't have to take it anymore!!! I'm sick of the poor customer service and it needs a good scrubbing and update. But the thing I hate the most about Kroger is that their bottle and can returns NEVER work. If they work when I get there, they break down half way through. Either way, getting someone to empty or fix them is like pulling teeth. There are no reviews from 2014 which means no one has reviewed this Kroger after the extensive renovations. Time to change that. I couldn't believe this was the same Krogers when I walked in. Huge produce section, larger organic section, an aisle of wine and beer - and it just looks good. Every time I go there with my REGESTERED service dog, Eric the assistant manager hassells me about my service animal. She is in the top of the cart , on her own cushion, well behaved and working. There are no laws against this and presidence from a California law suit that this is acceptable. He has told me I have to leave and threatened to call the police. I do all my shopping here including a lot of prescriptions. I don't need the hassel and am considering changing stores. Too bad, other than Eric everyone else is great. read more

Don't work here. They will not respect your hard work. I came to work everyday and the ONLY times I would call in were for transportation issues or family emergency. They fired me because my online schedule said my shift ended an hour earlier than the paper schedule and I left one hour early for work and I even offered to come in on an off day to make up for it. It was a problem on their end not mine. They never told me I'm supposed to rely on the paper schedule with my almost two years of working there I always relied on the electronic schedule. I had to leave early due to the fact that was my only ride home. There were other people that left the job even ON THE CLOCK without saying anything and they gave those assholes another chance. At least I went up to customer service to let them know and didn't just leave. It wasn't even busy. They're full of shit. And the new manager, Julius is such a lazy ass. Just when I was gonna make everybody's head spin I went in last night felt hurried so just wanted to get out before I get scolded at 11pm but the cashier was nice, I couldn't believe it, so I will chalk it up to the New year. I go to Stans and pay a little more even though I'm on a very tough budget right now. I have acid reflux real bad and still brushing my teeth my lower gums and once where my braces sat the enamel was eating away, I'm the kind of ass that would call a guy like me summer teeth(some are there and some are here) but to be berated by a manager for having meth teeth was outraged. This store is small and the isles are narrow but it is always well stocked. The worst customer service ever. I have never seen a worse culture of rude unhelpful disrespectful employees and hope that an intervention will soon be done by the corporate office to turn this store around. I have shopped at this Kroger for 23 years. I appreciate the staff and service. I can't imagine what is was like to work there during the pandemic. I love how they hire and support the special needs population. Today however I was terribly disappointed. My avocados rang at a different price than listed...( apparently the sign was incorrect ) and Sydney ,my cashier, tried desperately to correct the situation. As I was holding up the line I offered to go to customer service to speak with Duane with whom Sydney had just consulted. He closed the station and had an important phone call. He open the door and told me he would be a minute and his station is closed. I stated I had about 2 minutes. He then proceeded to tell me that this was an extremely important phone call and I would have to wait. He then shut the door on me. I called for a manager who graciously assisted. I stated I wanted an apology from Duane. He refused and proceeded to interrupt me and accuse me. I told the assistant manager thank you and I hoped some retraining on customer service could occur. A simple " I will be with you one moment" or " Let me see if I can get someone else to assist you. " or " I'm sorry this may take a while" would have avoided the entire situation. I am desperately trying to get this manager of Kroger manager in Farmington Hills but am unable to locate his/her email information. read more

Well....let's start with parking, shall we. The shopping cart collector needs to be fired. You will be driving around waiting for someone to leave a spot for a while because a large number of spaces will be taken up by shopping carts. This Kroger is a bit smaller than others that I have been to and they have a smaller selection of foods. The aisles are clean and everything is pretty easy to find. The staff? They also need to be fired. Some of them are really rude and have very nasty attitudes. I use the self scan most of the time and the clerk that was in the section seemed really ticked off that he had to come and assist me after I accidentally scanned something wrong. I will return only because it is the closest location to me and I don't want to drive to Walmart just a few groceries. read more

It's a small store but it's always fully stock. It's very rare for this location to be out of stock of a item. It can get pretty busy and congested at this location, especially near the holidays. The staff are friendly and helpful. This location does have a pharmacy also. read more

Walking into this place, I felt it was overly crowded and congested, poorly laid out, and I also felt like I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible..it did somehow feel dirty, but I can't pinpoint why I felt that way. Made the terrible mistake of ordering Click List through here. Thought they would care about the food they were serving. Everything was thrown in a bag large and small. Items were crushed and mixed with meats. I had molding cauliflower, spinach and salad mix. Sausage juices were dripping all over my blueberries. I should have known better.
