It has been permanently settled for over 2000 years though early settlements have been found that date back more than 6400 years. I visited this lovely city in November 2021 at the tail end of a tour of Christmas markets. On this trip, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Strasbourg. I met up with friends here and we did things around the city for just two days. Eating, drinking and visiting museums. Switzerland is not on the Euro standard, their currency is the Swiss Franc that is abbreviated CHF. Power outlets are the usual European format. With a deep public transport network that is easy to use and goes most places (including to the airport, always a plus for me!), the city is navigable. The Zürich hauptbahnhof has regional and international trains to Geneva, Basel, Milan, Münich and more. Zürichers we encountered understood enough English for us to get by. Swiss people pride themselves on their language skills (Americans, not so much) and all of the signage was easy to read. Restaurants had menus in German, French and English (and others). It is a banking capital and a strong currency but there are options for inexpensive food. I only had two days so there is much more to this city that I was not able to see on this visit. Definitely go to the Kunsthaus and the Grossmünster. If it's a sunny day, check out the view from the Polyterrasse. If you're thirsty, any of the more than 1200 fountains throughout the city are fresh, clean and drinkable for Westerners. I will return. [Review 16494 overall - 42 in Switzerland - 2 of 2022.]

As to the grounds, it made for a pleasant leg-stretching stroll, with a bunch of 20th-century stone sculptures, a few abstract pieces, and sunlight-dappled leaves on the trees. Not enough there to make a big outing, but fun for a stroll if you find yourself in Bad Zurzach.

The outdoor playground is large and open but it could use some more playground equipment such as slides or swings. Went on a Tuesday around 14:00 and it was pretty packed. Ignore the hookers and random drunkards strolling around the area, they will ignore you. In fact, that is the worst thing about this place, the shady characters surrounding it.

The 2, 5, 8, 9 and 11 tram lines cross the bridge as well. The initial bridge was constructed between 1880 and 1884, opening for traffic on January 1 1885. It has been rebuilt and refurbished a number of times since then with the most recent completed in 2015. The current structure is 100 feet (30.5 meters) wide with two tram tracks and on each side, two lanes for road traffic, bicycles and pedestrian sidewalks. For those of us on the 'other end' of our CH experience, the Stadthaus is also where one 'de-registers' from Swiss life. One brings one's Kreisbüro ID along with formal ID to one of few 'Abmeldung' lines located on the ground floor to start the ball rolling. Be prepared to be sent to a couple different offices during the Abmeldung process. The first office deals with taxes. If one hasn't yet paid taxes before exiting CH, then that transaction will take place then and there. The last stop was to obtain an official paper showing that one will be leaving the country and it is used to cancel insurance, phone service, etc. De-registering sets one back 30 CHF per person. Cash or card accepted. We had absolutely no issues with our Abmeldung process. Staff were professional and helpful. It's nice to have a smooth send off!

The session was hosted by the City of Zurich's Integration department inside the Stadthaus 3rd floor music hall. Upon walking into the entrance of the building, I was pleasantly surprised by the beautifully designed interior full of old world charm. The 3rd floor music hall was elegant and delightful as well with full view of the Grossmünster, Münsterbrücke, and the Limmat River below. I loved the details of the music hall such as the painted ceiling murals, the Latin inscribed gilded wooden tablets and the 12 foot wrought iron chandeliers. The info session was useful but I'm even more glad to have had a chance to see and experience the interior of this charming historical building.

We frequented Glattpark everyday for our 3 week stay! It's a very enjoyable spot for all walks of…read morelife. The dog we were taking care of got to enjoy the vast grass fields! We also thought it was nice that there were fire pits surrounding the outside so you can come grill on your downtime! Also available are ashtrays for the grass & a workout station. You have something for everyone. Even people enjoying swimming in the canal, playing basketball, or table tennis. It's a lovely spot to give you that slower, local style of living.
