Quaibrücke is the first bridge over the Limmat where it meets Lake Zürich. It is a very busy bridge as it supports vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles and buses. The 2, 5, 8, 9 and 11 tram lines cross the bridge as well.
The initial bridge was constructed between 1880 and 1884, opening for traffic on January 1 1885. It has been rebuilt and refurbished a number of times since then with the most recent completed in 2015. The current structure is 100 feet (30.5 meters) wide with two tram tracks and on each side, two lanes for road traffic, bicycles and pedestrian sidewalks.
It is a pretty bridge and because it is the first one over the river, it has a great view of the lake.
