Anyone tried replacing a car key lately? Omg, the days of looking up a physical place and going there and getting a key are almost kaput. A quick search revealed about 10-20 places, the problem being that none of them are local or have a physical location. They all seemed to be operators who assign you to some unknown local person who can come out to you and replace the key. That seemed problematic - giving my address to strangers I can't trace back to a particular business. Add to that, there prices were double what I paid here : Here it was $75 to get a key w a chip replaced for a late 2000s foreign car. I'm so glad I could support an actual local business, reputable and with a physical location. The key was ready in no less than 30 minutes, they had me check it and then shaved it down a little more. Very transparent and I got the same info on the phone and in person. I'm telling all my friends about this place for when they need keys. read more

Stopped in to get an extra house key made, Brian greeted me right away and was super helpful with picking out a key (I wanted one with a design as this was for a friend that would be taking care of my animals while I'm gone, so it's OBVIOUSLY my key). No worries there! I have a VERY cute teddy bear key! Brian was fast and efficient and the cute key was only $4.95 and works great! Krause Key & Lock was very convenient, located on Hampton Ave, easy access with lots of parking. If you need a key, give them a visit!!! read more

They were very quick, efficient, and knowledgeable. Everyone I spoke to was very nice and helpful.

We had a front door Baldwin lock that was never right from the day it was installed years ago. Had several other companies out over time to fix, but it never was. Brian Edmiston was the tech sent from Krause to look at our lock problem. Was on time, very knowledgeable about locks, and neat. The fee was very reasonable. Would highly recommend. read more

went to get a key cut for my car. I have the original key and the key that need to be cut. Usually the Dealer charged $25 to cut The Key and they think I was born yesterday. They want to charge me $80 to cut assemble key I want recommended those business to anyone. read more

Great place to have keys made. It was fast. Very nice people. Easy to find. Easy parking right in front.

Came to Krause Key & Lock to have two extra keys made and two Kwikset cylinders re-keyed. They can get keys made right away, probably only took them 3 mins to make two key copies for me. If it's a common key like the Kwikset key I had, they charged $2.25 per key not including tax. I brought in two cylinders to get re-keyed. This takes a bit longer. If they are busy, you should probably just drop the cylinders off to get re-keyed. Fortunately for me, they were able to get to me right away so I just waited. I waited for about 10 mins for them to re-key the two cylinders. (Make sure to bring your working key for the cylinders, it'll make the employees and your life a whole lot easier.) They charged $7.50 per cylinder not including tax. Checkout took a little longer because they actually write out your order on a sheet of paper, calculate the tax, and total all the items with tax on a calculator. But that didn't bother me, I like the old school process. The employees were friendly and efficient. I'll definitely be coming back with any locksmith needs. read more

Krause Key was my 4th try to have some keys made for my 2016 Isuzu NPR truck. My local lock service in ESTL, an ACE Hardware in Chesterfield, and even the dealership where I bought the truck brand new were not able to make the key. I know, crazy. I was in the neighborhood anyway so I stopped in just on a whim. They had the blanks, cut two keys for me, and when I tried the keys the following day they worked! About five years ago when I lived in St. Louis Hills I had Krause work on my front door lock once. Both times I have been very happy with their knowledge and service! I finally have extra truck keys! I'll be back! read more

Came here after the Minutekey kiosk at Home Depot gave me defective keys for the second time. Krause cut me three keys in under a minute for $9, I thought it would take way longer. Polite and to the point. Will definitely be back, screw the key kiosks and support this awesome local business. read more

Extremely POOR!!! After verifying by providing full details what was needed & that they could cut a replacement key for my car & quoted me a price, I went there with & was told: "we don't do that". There's only 1 Kraus key shop, so it had to be them. Will Never support their business again! I travelled too great a distance to be turned away. read more

Needed an extra key for work, so I stopped by Krause since it is in my hood. I could not be happier with the service I received. I was greeted by a friendly associate, he made my key and I was out the door in under 5 minutes and that was with small talk. If and when I need more keys made, I'll keep my business local and come back to Krause. read more

These guys were live savers today! After my purse got stolen with all my keys, I called them right away, as they had done work prior. The same technician who did the first install of the deadbolt, Brian, came over within 30-45 minutes after the call, and was able to re-keyed my door, and gave me a piece of mind. I can't thank you enough for helping me out from a stressful day. They are my go to contact with any of locksmith needs I have in the future. read more

Faster, easier and higher quality rekeying than a box store. New go to for all things key/lock.

I have NO IDEA why anyone in St. Louis goes anywhere else for keys/locks. This place has consistently delivered fast, friendly, competent service. After having not 1, but 3, failed key cuttings from Lowe's and Home Depot, I tried Krause. Not only was it less expensive, but the key they cut is still going strong 2 years later, even in a sticky deadbolt that eventually bent the original house key. Today was my 4th visit there, and once again it was such an easy, pleasant experience. Thanks for being awesome! read more

I left my condo to walk my dog without my keys and locked the door behind me without thinking. Luckily, Sean was literally across the street on another service call. I walked over and asked if he could help me out! He came by after his appointment and was able to get me back into my place (after having to drill through my doorknob because it had been installed incorrectly by another company) and was also able to swap out the old door knob with a spare I had in the house. Sean and the Krause team we're friendly, helpful, professional, and quick. And to top it all off--their rates were incredibly reasonable. I would highly recommend their locksmith services to anyone as absentminded as me as well as those looking for reliable, friendly, and affordable local locksmith services. Thanks again Sean and team! read more

I was so impressed by the service I got here even if they couldn't help me with my unusual problem. While I was here, they made a serious effort to try and find something that would work for me and still managed to serve several other customers while dealing with my situation. No one had to wait long. Everyone here was super nice - and my completely off-the-wall request seems to have left them with one of those "You'll never believe what this lady asked for" stories they can tell forever. If I ever needed a locksmith on the south side, I would choose these guys first in a heartbeat. read more

I locked myself out of my house (1 pm on a Monday) and after a failed attempt to get my spare key from my friend's house I called Krause. I have noticed the store as I drive up and down Hampton. They were very pleasant on the phone and the man took my name and number to call me back with an estimated time of arrival. He called back a minute later and said someone was on the way. The locksmith arrived in a Krause van within five minutes. It didn't take him long to get my door open; he then asked me to verify it was in fact my house (by providing him with my key inside) and made me a spare key on site. They were prompt and professional and I felt very comfortable with the cost. I'm not sure of their hours of operations but I will highly recommend them for locksmith needs in South Hampton/St. Louis Hills area. read more

I would hesitate to recommend this lock service. The bill ended up to be a lot more than I expected based on their misleading quote and the guy they sent was in a hurry and seemed like I was an inconvenience. I'm not sure why a 2 hours of work and $200 is such an inconvenience. On the day I met them I just happened to forget my keys and the guy didn't want to take the time to pick the lock (or he just didn't have skills). I then went back to work to get the keys. Then, everything I asked him to do (which is what I told them on the phone) he huffed and puffed and looked at his watch. In the end I didn't even have them do everything and I'll have to find someone else. I should have just hired Al Gore to put in the lockbox. Here's to my first review of a locksmith and showing Angie's List we can Yelp for free. read more

Excellent service! I have come to KRAUSE to have keys made, many times in the past & the keys were always done right. Last weekend I needed two doors re-keyed & a broken doorknob fixed at my mother's home. The technician arrived & my mother wasn't there! He called me, then proceeded to patiently wait for her to arrive. He was wonderful with my mother, patient & kind. His work was excellent! Thank you! read more

I was having several issues with the older Mortise lock on the home I just purchased. They came out within a week (I had no rush) and took the lock, cleaned and re-keyed it and had it back in my door and working within an hour! It was amazing. The man that came out was super nice as well and even showed me some tips on how to keep the lock running smoothly in the months/years ahead. Great service and a fair price! read more

I am a first-time home owner in Tower Grove South, and I do not have a ton of experience with home improvement or simply maintenance projects. After doing a lot of research on my lock project I went in to Krause armed with a ton of questions and Tim at Krause took the time to address all of them. I wanted to do it myself and he even took the time to answer a few phone calls after leaving their shop to trouble shoot with me on the project. In a world where I am often struggling to find trusted contractors I feel as though I could not recommend them highly enough. read more
