I was referred to Krank It Up by my mechanic, who had tried and tried to connect my new phone to my old Suburu for hands free Blue Tooth. The person who helped me (I think it was Josh) couldn't have been more friendly and helpful in solving this problem when many others had failed. Though this took at least 10 minutes of his time, he refused to "upsell" me a new radio (which several people had suggested) or to charge me. I'm not a car guy, in fact many times when dealing with automotive stuff, I'm a little gunshy on making a decision because I don't know if I'm getting ripped off or not. Called around for quotes on remote starters. Krank It Up (John was the gent I spoke to) was the first shop to give clear and simple answers on products, costs and labor time. Brought my GF's SUV in for service and it was done exactly as stated. Actually the price prior was higher originally due to a key bypass thing (again, not a car guy) but John realized during service he was incorrect and upon paying, he explained the difference and I paid a good bit less. In short, there's a big reason they have 5 star reviews up and down the board... look forward to coming back here (and not being gunshy in doing so) when I want to upgrade our vehicles in the future. read more

I wrote a review on here about a month ago detailing a negative experience I had with this shop, and I'm back to say I have done a complete 180. These guys took my complaint and did everything in their power to rectify the situation. To make a long story short, I had a very weird and unique issue with the wiring in my 2011 KIA Forte. I wrote a nasty review of Krank because the issue seemed to arise after they had replaced my stereo unit with a new one, and when I returned to the shop to talk to them about it, a representative told me to take it to KIA to have it figured out. I didn't love that answer, went on my way, and felt compelled to write a nasty review. What happened next was really impressive and changed my perspective completely. Krank's owner, Josh, heard about my issue and contacted me immediately. He explained that the person I had dealt with no longer works at Krank and that he would do everything in his power to fix the problem in my car. Sure enough, I took it back to them and they quickly diagnosed and resolved my issue. Josh personally checked in with me throughout the repair process, sending me updates and asking specific questions about the car to make sure he and I were on the same page. When I got back from a weekend trip out of state, my car was parked at Krank totally fixed, with a full tank of gas, and the interior AND exterior detailed. I swear to god they even did a tune-up on top of that, because the thing has never driven better. The bottom line is that I had niche issue that was extremely difficult to diagnose and fix, and these guys did it. They take pride in their work and genuinely care about their customers' satisfaction. It's evident in the way Josh reached out after my negative review, in the way they've moved on from the employee I spoke with initially, and in the quality of the final product I am now fortunate enough to have. There are few businesses in the 21st century that you can count on for genuine service without exorbitant prices, and Krank It Up is one of them. What a joke. I called this place earlier in the week to get a price for an install. (Component in front w/4 channel, cox in rear, and single sub with mono block) The on the phone I absolutely have to come in to get a price estimate. I was insistent about a General price and again he stated he need to see my car to see what I had and how it would fit. Fast forward to the weekend I bring the car in the place and the bays were empty. I explain again what I what done. I tell him I already have my own equipment and he ask why and were I choose to buy from. I said a combo of best buy, sonic electronics and Amazon. The face he made was like ugh. I paid no attention to it. Mind you this guy never came out to look at my car or (cheap) audio equipment as ge said was an absolute must via phone. Then he has the nerve to say $975 for the install. It's because it will take 3 days to install ..... REALLY Component in front w/4 channel, cox in rear, and single sub with mono block) Dude this is a 3-4 hour at best. It's not like I'm getting a custom install, fabrication or competition equip install. I repeated the price back to him and even he was having a hard time justifying it. I had Krank it Up replace the stereo in subaru forester because I wanted one that had car play and a few additional features. The guys at Krank it up were able to give me a quote over the phone in just a few minutes that included everything I needed and scheduled an appointment for less than a week later. On install day I showed up on time and they took the car - I had mentioned I needed it back by 4 pm. I arrived at 4 pm to pick it up and it wasn't ready and I was kept waiting until 4:30 - at 4:30 or 4:45 someone brought me the car but in their demo of the new stereo it was found that both the front speakers and the car play were not working - I was nervous things were headed in a bad direction for sure. In the end they agreed to come pick the car up that night, bring it back to the shop and fix and deliver it back to me. They were able to do this and my car was back at home that night working perfectly. The 4 stars is just because they didn't have it to me at 4, and it was clearly not well tested before they handed it over, but they went so far above and beyond to make it right that I would go back in a heartbeat. read more

TL:DR, THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! I just got the Viper LCD 2-Way Remote Start System installed on my 2012 RAV4 and these guys did an AMAZING job. I was always scared to have people mess around with the car's electrical equipment but based on the positive reviews I went ahead and gave it a shot. These guys solder the wire connections and went above and beyond to even enable my factory remote to activate the Viper system. A BIG PLUS! I never asked for it and they did it for me anyway even knowing it was more work. I was warned ahead of time that some factory electrical settings might not work with the new Viper system but so far everything works perfectly! On top of that someone came in with HID issues and they went to work on that person's car right away. They really stand by their installations. Outstanding business practice. If you're wondering how the whole process was like, here was mine. I emailed them regarding the install, got a response within two days, called them the same day and made an appointment for the next day, sat around and waited for 3 hours, car looks like nothing happened to it and it remote starts, the boss taught me how to work the remote and set the time and LCD color for me, win. If you don't know what you want installed they will offer you the most basic remote starter because it's really all you need. They won't try to rip you off with the fancy ones because it's almost double the price. Their prices are similar to everyone else and you get what you're paying for. These guys know what they're doing and know what they're talking about so please feel free to ask them anything. They are real ordinary people and not some pushy salesman. The garage has plenty of space so they have plenty of room to work on your car. No need to freak out! There is parking right outside and plenty of places to get coffee and food around the area. They take all major credit cards but the coffee shop across the street only takes cash. They will offer to give you cash if you need it and just add it to the total at the end. Overall my experience was more than satisfied. This positive review is the least I can do for these guys. This is now my go-to spot for electrical installs and will definitely recommend anyone I know to come here. THANK YOU GUYS! I wanted an auto car starter for my wife's Town & Country minivan and made an appt. here because I drove by it frequently and it was convenient for me. Didn't even read reviews here. As everybody says, great customer service. They gave me my options and I opted for the car start into my factory keys, which limited my range. They suggested I go with the separate remote to expand the range to about 1/4 mile, but I didn't want to have the extra remote. They took my car and told me it would be a while, so I went next door for lunch. They do have wi-fi, but there is only 5 seats to sit on in the waiting area. All work was done on time and worked great...but after a month, the wife wanted the starter with the remote for a longer range - just like Krank suggested. I called and told them what I needed, the set up an appt. for me the next day and gave me a very cheap price to add the remote, even though they had to undo all the work they had done with the factory key. I made an appointment with Krank it Up to have a remote starter installed. Prior to my current vehicle, 2014 Nissan Rogue Select, I have owned two other cars. The remote starters for these cars were done at separate locations. I heard about Krank it Up from a close friend. I spoke with Josh and he was very professional and easy to talk to. He not only was able to accommodate my schedule, but he also fit me in right away. As a young woman, making an appointment to have any kind of work done on my car can be intimidating. Josh was very happy to tell me about the remote starters that Krank it Up offered and how they worked. We talked about the Viper Remote Starter System, and he was very enthusiastic and happily answered my questions. The staff behind the counter were all very welcoming and easy going...and funny!! For the first time ever, having work done on my vehicle was not intimidating at all. My car was ready in a short amount of time and for a great price (lowest price I have paid for a remote starter). I had planned on taking the train somewhere while the vehicle was being worked on. I decided to stay because John and Josh made me feel very comfortable. They even asked if I was hungry and wanted lunch! When my car was ready to go, Josh walked me to my vehicle to explain how everything worked (super simple with this model), and made sure I understood everything. He told me to contact them at anytime if I ever have any questions. The remote starter is flawless and is a lifesaver in the winter!!! When I found out that they tint windows and were able to make my rims black, I returned to have that done as well! My car not only looks beautiful but is also very very warm during these freezing winter days in Boston. We had a problem with the electrical system in our ancient Subaru - a car alarm co. that's out of business. Stupid @#$# thing didn't stop w/just the unbearable noise - it totally disabled the car!!! No one else was able to help, and I was starting to think that I was going to get much more familiar w/the local bus system (not that I'm putting the T down, but hey, ya needs wheels sometimes). Krank it Up was incredible - extremely helpful, but most of all - the problem w/the stupid @#% alarm system is now solved, and we are behind the wheel again. Call and gave Krank It Up some business after trying, over the course of a few years, to get an auxiliary audio jack setup in my 2006 Honda Civic Lx. The dealership where I bought the car, new, could have done it but I refused because they wanted $300+ for it and I figured that I could always add it later. When I returned to the dealership, they told me, repeadetly, that it was impossible for them to set that up in my car, giving me the excuse that my model wasn't compatible... I believed them for a good five years, that is until a long commute home which lead me to be fedup and investigate things a bit more. So I called a few places, and while this place was in the middle of the pack in terms of price, however they were extremely nice on the phone and took their time to explain what they could do; I decided to pick them right there and then and proceeded to make my way over there, which only took about five minutes. I arrived and they took care of my car almost immediately and while they took care of the installation, I tried to connect to their free, customer wifi; however they didn't know the password and I had to eventually use my Android phone to tether to my laptop. The whole ordeal took about ninety minutes after which I paid and headed out. All in all the installation is great and works extremely well. They did a great job making it non-obstructive and kept it all very clean. No tangles, no faulty audio - good quality at a fair price. Pretty solid experience all-round. read more

However, despite the heavy number of people coming and going, Krank It Up honored my appointment time, and had me in and out in record time. They also were amazing, with fresh donuts and coffee! In addition, Josh took time out of his day to check on a previous issue I was having, then follow up later in the day to get more information about the problem to try to figure it out remotely. Spent the entire day with the crew at Krank It Up today waiting on a remote car starter installation and an interior detailing. I knew it would be a substantial length of time when I booked the appointment, but brought plenty of work and entertainment for the camp-out. I don't like to coordinate rides so I usually just brave the waiting room - and trust me, I've seen many. The team was strapped with appointments as this is a super busy season for them, understandably so, but they did their best to get my car in and expedited while I sat out in their waiting area. There's a few seats, a great table for studying, and wifi, which is obviously more important than any furniture whatsoever. It gets pretty cold though if you are staying for any length of time so bring layers and don't be afraid to use them. Over the course of the breakfast/lunch hour, I was offered coffee by one of the staff going on a 'dunks run... at lunch/dinner I was offered pizza that one of the staff had brought back from their lunch break... it was just overall a really welcoming and pleasant vibe. The staff is not only super friendly and accommodating, but they are knowledgeable and trustworthy. They do what they say they will, and if they can't, they honor it. I am happy I searched around and ended up with these guys, it was a good overall experience and so far the work looks great. Not to mention - the prices aren't half bad and they stand behind the work they do. I would certainly go back. My dealer says they can't fix my remote starter. It was apparently installed by an outside vendor, Krank it up. I was worried on how much it was going to cost me since I brought my car to the dealer and they charged me $120 for diagnostics. So, I called them and told them the situation. They told me to bring my car over . I did. They fixed my remote starter even after warranty expired at no cost in less than 15 min. That is super awesome!!! read more

I went here the other day to have speakers, subwoofer and an auto start installed. They were speakers leftover from a family member. I gave them the bag if wires, the speakers and sub with no problem. Front desk were personable, knowledgeable and honest. I was initially quoted that it would be done by the end of the day but it ended up being done the following day. I had to wait a little bit longer than I was told but it didn't bother me much because I'd much rather them take the time to get it all done properly. A portion of this review is also from past experiences of my brother and his wife who have come here at least 4-5 other times. They have nothing but great things to say about how they were treated here. My brother actually went with me for the drop off and pickup. The guy at the front desk asked how everything was working for him. His auto starter had an LED out on the keychain portion and it was promptly taken care of within minutes. The price was fair. The rear speakers didn't fit my car, I will be looking for some that do in the future and I will be continuing to take my business here. I came without any expectations. Basically the last place I visited ripped me off and installed slims 10'inch subs and did not tune my system correctly. Not only were these guys able to tell the right away that my system sounded very off. But they accommodated me in a timely manner and at an affordable price. I highly recommend these guys. I will be back to get my car fully sound deadened in the future. There's no denying their expertise in car audio system. Also, they do not try to up sell you or move product. All in all, a positive experience, but room for improvement. These guys are good, but they're a couple steps away from great. I called and made an appointment, and they were able to fit me in two days later on a Saturday (which fit my schedule perfectly). The staff is friendly, and that's a plus as well. Finally, the equipment they installed works as advertised. So far, so good. Now for how they can improve: When telling the service rep where I wanted my iPhone adapter cable, I said in the center, where there is already a hole and a cable coming out. This got translated into the center console, in between the seats, not in the center of the dashboard, where the previous cable was and where the iPhone mount was stuck in plain sight. This resulted in me having to string the cable from the dash down to the console, and getting tangled in it, knocking the phone out of its case when I attempted to shift, use the e-brake, or adjust the stereo. The good news is that, one phone call and one visit later, they re-fed the cable to the correct location and made it right. Suggestion: next time, ask the customer to SHOW you exactly where they would like the equipment interfaces to be exposed. I had asked if they would call when the car was ready, but after several hours did not hear anything, so I called, asking when my car would be ready. The person on the phone said in about 30 minutes. I arrived about 45 minutes after the call, and waited nearly an hour after that. Not calling seems to be standard procedure for any auto-related service company, so it's a minor ding, and sadly, to be expected. Suggestion: If you're running late, just say so. Finally, two days ago, the adapter stopped working for no apparent reason. I called and they informed me that there was a rocker switch, which I easily found and turned back on (after I had accidentally turned it off), so good for a quick remedy, but something else that should have been addressed with better communication. Suggestion: Show the customer where you put the stuff you installed. read more
