I was completely ignored both weeks. Week 3: I finally got them to schedule a day. I received numerous text/email confirmations, took time off to be home, and nobody showed up. When I called for an update, the office admitted they never actually dispatched anyone and failed to tell me. This Week: They rescheduled the original technician for Thursday. On Wednesday, they called to say he had been in an accident and rescheduled him for Friday instead. On Friday morning, they called to cancel again, stating the technician couldn't make it due to the accident. Why did management schedule an injured employee for active field duty without checking his condition, rather than simply sending a different electrician to finish the job? My project is completely stalled, the wires are sitting exposed, and I have paid 100% upfront for labor and fixtures. I asked to speak directly with a manager to settle this, but my request was ignored. I have deep sympathy for the injured technician, but this company's administrative staff is completely incompetent, dishonest about dispatching, and uncommunicative. This is the absolute worst company I've ever had to deal with…read more I've been a construction project manager for over a decade and a landlord for nearly as long, so I've dealt with plenty of contractors and service companies over the years. This experience with Roto-Rooter was easily one of the worst. On the evening of August 24, 2026, the tenants at one of my properties notified me that they were having backups in the home. I was out of state and couldn't get there myself, so I called Roto-Rooter. They told me someone would arrive within a four-hour window, and to their credit, the technician showed up in about two hours. After assessing the situation, the technician called me and said they needed to remove the downstairs toilet and snake the main drain. The price was $826, and I was told they would return the next day to scope the drain and determine whether there were any roots, a belly, or some other issue with the line. $826 seemed extremely expensive for removing a toilet and snaking a main line, but it was late at night and I needed the problem handled, so I approved it. Then, before starting, the technician realized he didn't have a wax ring to reinstall the toilet. Seriously? You're coming out to remove a toilet and don't have a wax ring? There is a Home Depot about 30 seconds from the property, so I told him to go get one, which he did. Once he returned, he cleared the blockage fairly quickly. It appeared to be a typical tenant-related clog from excessive toilet paper and possibly baby wipes. Fine. Problem solved. The real circus started after that. The next day, August 25, I heard nothing about the promised camera scope. I called Roto-Rooter and was told, "Yes, it's here on the ticket." I asked, "So when are you going to do it?" They responded by asking when I wanted them to come. You told me you were coming back the next day. I'm out of state. You need to coordinate with the tenant. They contacted my tenant and scheduled the scope for 6:00 PM on August 25. My tenant left work early to be there. Roto-Rooter never showed up. On August 26, my tenant contacted them again. They told him they would be there at 3:30 PM. He left work early again. Roto-Rooter never showed up again. On August 27, I called Roto-Rooter myself. The dispatcher told me she didn't know what the problem was because she hadn't been working when the previous appointments were scheduled. So because you weren't personally working, nobody at the company can figure out why your technicians missed two scheduled appointments? She escalated me to a supervisor. Unsurprisingly, the supervisor had no idea what happened either. She then offered to send a technician over "right now." I had to explain, yet again, that I AM OUT OF STATE. You have to coordinate access with the tenants. I'm not standing at the property waiting for you. At that point I was done. The $826 price was bad enough, but the complete lack of organization and communication afterward was worse. My tenant left work early on TWO separate days because of appointments Roto-Rooter scheduled, and nobody showed up either time. Then, when I called to find out what happened, nobody at the company could even explain it. I work with a lot of contractors, property owners, landlords, and people in the construction industry. I will never use Roto-Rooter again, I will never recommend them to anyone I work with, and I strongly suggest anyone considering them look elsewhere. She then is able to transfer me and that's when I speak with Ashley. She then tells me she has spoken to the manager of the technician and he said the tech would be coming tonight no matter what tonight, and would be around 7-7:30 and before 8pm. I asked if that was a sure thing because I've read that techs didn't show up when promised. She said "yes someone will be there before 8pm today." I then asked if she was sure because I wanted reassurance, and she proceeds to ask me if I it's too late I can reschedule. I told her if it's 7:30pm that's not too late. She then proceeds to tell me that she can't guarantee it's that time and it's a little hard to get an answer from a technician who is in front of another customer. So I ask her how am I supposed to let you know if it's too late when you can't even get me an ETA. Keep in mind we've already been waiting till 2pm. It's now past 6:30pm. Then 8pm rolls around. No one is here. The service we requested never happened. The phone lines are now closed even though they say they're available 24/7 on yelp, their website and on google. They just left us waiting for OVER 6 hours, wasting our Sunday, with no updates, and no apology. THIS BUSINESS DOES NOT VALUE YOUR TIME. GO ELSEWHERE. -100/10. They went above and beyond having to place a downspout while working around our bushes and even designed the downspout to have an angle to go over our large planter bed and head to where the water needed to flow.
