I love the format and the eclectic array of all the music but is anybody else getting really bad reception on their vehicles??? Also it seems like the wave strength to my home receiver is also affected. Does anybody else have this problem and what have you done to get this wonderful one of a kind station? I've got a little Bingfu 10' wire antenna and it's doing nothing! I forgot to say I live in Pismo Beach 3 blocks from the beach and Sea Venture as to just how I might get the station. read more

Great music, most of the time. I don't mind the subscription fee- it's a bargain. Sometimes I have trouble with my Android phone cutting out which us frustrating. However, I do need to take breaks, which are becoming more frequent, as the Playlist seems rather repetitive and some of the DJs, definitely not all, become pretty grating. My biggest complaint is that the overall tone of songs, fake commercials, comedians, etc., are so darn white and older male. A little diversity in song selections, a few more female and people of color comedians and stopping the fake Indian accents and misogynistic humor [sic] spots would go a long way in recognizing we are in the year 2022. read more

Used to love this station. Now, has some of the worst commercials of any station around, including AM stations. Gave it two stars because they have, sometimes, programming I like. Sorry they sold their soul to the devil read more

Just charged $5 at 2am early Xmas morning. I wanted to download the KPIG app because I'm a subscriber and a FOX new affiliate came up! And I'm thinking that KPIG has a political point of view and if KPIG supports Trump I'm so out of here! Who owns this radio station? I'm going to do a charge back because I didn't order anything. Discussed! And on Christmas at 2am while I'm cooking for family! When I'm busy and most of us are to busy to notice the charge! I'm yelping this right now !you $&@#%*!! read more

A friend of mine told me about this radio station and I thought i would check it out. somewhat disappointed because it's not free and I'm not going to give a password email address, login, etc. I may be the best rock available but it won't sound good on a smartphone. sorry, it's also evidently sponsored by fox so ill pass and stick w record albums on my tube amp. read more

Four years ago today we lost one of the strongest supporters of Americana music in California if not the entire nation. She was also instrumental in making KPIG the first station in the world to live stream on teh interwebz. Laura Ellen Hopper, long may you run... read more

KPIG Radio - Radio Stations Near Me

Best damned radio station in the Bay Area. Hell it's the best damned radio station I've heard this side of KGSR in Austin. Only wish they had an FM broadcast in San Francisco. read more

We were driving from Carmel to Half-Moon Bay and discovered KPIG while scanning the FM band. I'm not sure what to call the format, except that it's kinda blues with a sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed the eclectic mix that encompassed Little Feat, Dylan, Asleep At the Wheel and, from time to time, vocalists who couldn't carry a tune if it was handed to them. Whatever the fomat, it was the perfect soundtrack for our drive along California's Highway One. read more

THIS IS THE BEST. STATION. EVER. PERIOD. i love you kpig radio read more

Live DJ's? Check. Live DJ's who are allowed to play what they want? Check. A music library so large and deep, that it would take years to play it all? Check. I grew up with this radio station. Laura Ellen is my Aunt (god rest her soul), and Frank Caprista is my Uncle. I can tell you from first-hand experience that there is no station like this on Earth. No other station puts the heart and soul into radio like KPIG. And this is coming from a session musician with a critical palate. There are two kinds of people in this world: those who understand and appreciate good radio as an art form, and those who prefer mindless McRadio. KPIG listeners are in the former category. Taking it one step further: there just ain't no other radio station quite like KPIG. KPIG is much like the old free-form radio of the 60's, where the announcers actually understand the music, put together their own playlists and treat radio like the wonderfully creative medium that it can be. It's one of those stations you can't turn off because you want to know what's next. My only complaint? Their over-the-air signal sucks in the South Bay. It comes in pretty good as I head up 17 toward Santa Cruz, but not so good down in the flats. Kudos to Mapleton Communications, the station's corporate owner, for recognizing a good thing and not monkeying with a great station. read more

Been listening since KFAT back in 1977. Just as good today as then. Def worth the small fee to support the stream. Want some good music and feel good vibes - listen to the Pig read more

K*PIG is the musical epitome of Santa Cruz county. Funky, unique, rad, trailblazing, independent, free spirited, and truly one of a kind. A totally random mix of songs from nearly every genre spanning from 60', 70's, 80's, 90's and present day. It's safe to say you won't hear the same song played more than once each day...and honestly probably for a whole week or even a month. K*PIG always has something new spinning on the air. I love how the feature many new and talented local artist on the radio, and have lots of pride for big artists that are from Cali. One of my favorite little quirks about K*PIG is the random and hilarious spoof commercials they make up and play on the air. Who thinks those up? Seriously, one funny person! read more

Very disappointed with KPIG's streaming service, which claims to be "commercial-free", the only reason I've been paying for it for years. Last week though, it was spewing the most obnoxious ads, with some guy yelling at me to do something "NOW!". This week, another ad was immediately followed by a an ironic station promo touting how commercial free the stream was. I complained both times, and they at first pretended to be shocked, shocked I tell you, but eventually admitted it happens, and refuse to stop it. They want it both ways. So, today I turned off their auto-renewal, I refuse to pay for their ongoing fraud. read more

Moving from Albuquerque to Monterey in 1997, cruising the last few miles down 156 with U-haul in tow I was spinning thru the radio dial when I found KPIG. Haven't turned it off since. Brilliant irascible dj's, a broad sweep of great music; it's random, relevant, enthusiastic and local - a fine metaphor and a better soundtrack for my life. Still miss LE. Props to Phil's and Don Quixote for keeping her voice on the airwaves. Would never believe that the bane of radio - dead air - could be turned into an art form. But Cuzin Al does it every week. Losing KPIG would be like losing a good friend. read more

This station is awful. Some of my family members listen to it so I have to hear it when I come visit. KPIG plays songs that are like a nightmare fusion of redneck/hillbilly/hippy garbage. I can confidently say this is the worst music I've ever heard. There's also "comedy" bits that are nothing but cringe-worthy. read more

My husband recently passed away and I needed a radio station to entertain my parrot while I was gone from the house and I accidentally found KPIG. My bird loves it and so do I. He loves all the "oinks" and "squeels" and all the other quirky sounds that you make during the day. I have you on all day long now as I love listening to all the entertainers, even tho some can't carry a tune. haha I love them anyway!! So keep up the great work--you are definitely cheering up my days. read more

this is how radio should be! before clear channel owned *everything* and before DJs were given lists of music that they had to play, there were more stations like KPIG. but it seems like KPIG is the survivor in a world of clear channel. i agree that you never know what you're going to get. of course i don't love EVERYTHING that they play, but i appreciate the variety. i have also discovered many artists while driving home at night, listening to the pig. and i nearly drove off the road when i heard an old amy ray solo song on KPIG one day (she doesn't get any radio airplay as a solo, indie artist). wow! i also love the faux commercials (they're funny) and the hog calls. KPIG, i love you. please don't ever let clear channel run you down! read more

Radio the way it should be: where the DJs get to play, as far as I can tell, whatever they want. What I heard on a recent short drive, off the top of my head: Kip Addotta's Wet Dream; some Mitch Hedberg, some sort of instrumental lounge cover of the Gnarls Barkley song "Crazy," some Dylan, and some sort of bluegrassy instrumental. So, yeah. This is a real radio station. Check it out. read more

I've seen the KPIG sticker's on car's for year's & when I relized there streaming on line, I had to check them out. I love this station!! Alot of GREAT music you just can't hear too often (if at all) anywhere else. Even have my own sticker now! 8*) read more

Best radio station ever. Been listening religiously since 1979 even though I've never lived in Santa Cruz or north of San Luis Obispo. I'd get so desperate in the 80's for Travis T. that I'd drive up to San Ardo where I could first get reception just to listen in the car for an hour or 2. Finally, KPIG came to SLO Co. in the 90's and I bought a house that specifically got reception. Now have streaming! Auditory nirvana at last no matter where I am. read more

KPIG is amazing! Real DJs playing what they feel like playing. This station is a beautiful, rare jewel.

As good as it gets for old fashioned Disc Jockey driven music that's a bit eclectic but if that's your style, this is the station for you. I enjoyed listening to KPIG when I lived in the Bay Area. Now it is going to be on 1670 AM in Redding, replacing ESPN sports talk radio.

Yes, the world is going to hell and the evidence is piling up around us. They lie abut the war. They lie about inflation. They lie about our food- we no longer even have any business asking if Monsanto's demons have irradiated it or GMO-spliced it or even if they grew it on Mars! They arrested 860,000 Americans for using pot in 2010, most of them for plain possession when pot has never killed anyone. But hey, we still have KPIG playing the music we want and fighting to keep radio honest. GOD BLESS YOU GUYS! KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT!! read more

Not only is KPIG the best radio station in the world, Ramblin' Ror is the best DJ ever. Are you sure you won't marry me Ramblin'?

On a recent outing to the coast, I scanned after crossing the hill and found these fantastic tunesmiths. Presidents day weekend was so fantastic weatherwise that the addition of the PIGS music made everything beyond top shelf. Great music and sunshine is the formula for the best high going without the expense of drugs. I am 60 years old and have heard some bad ass radio back in the 60's and these folks are right there. Thank you KPIG for doing what you do better than everyone else including satellite. read more
