Most of my stay in Aix-en-Provence I was sick with a severe case of food poisoning. It lasted about 10 days before I was finally able to get a doctor to prescribe an antibiotic. Naruto was there because they make an excellent ramen. I highly recommend ordering any of them. They are on the mark authentic to what you can get in Japan. While I wasn't able to try any of their other dishes, I highly suspect they are on par with their ramen as Naruto is always packed. From the moment they open, all the tables are filled with customers. It doesn't matter what day of the week nor time of day. They are busy, busy, busy. The owner is a fun character, who enjoys being silly. He clearly takes preparing his meals seriously though. Check out his business cards. They will make you smile. He's something of a local celebrity. And you can see this is true fore he has that certain charisma that draws you into his world.

The problem I have with them is that they don't devein shrimps. However, all the Asian restaurants here in France devein shrimps. Thankfully! We just ordered 3 dishes. All were excellent. The edamame, which, unlike the USA, they only give to you with your main meal, Shrimp Tempura-Don and Chicken Torikatsu-Don. We came here around 8:30pm. It was fairly busy. The service was efficient. And, I noticed they do a lot of take out deliveries.

For only eleven euros you get to choose a main dish and two side dishes; I choose​ their raw fish mix over a bed of white rice. It looked very Japanese, but it did not taste Japanese. (I have been to a lot of Japanese restaurants and supermarkets where food is produced by Japanese people and this is my point of reference.) This visually appealing dish prepared by Nikki Sushi had fresh mint in it which in my experience is a Meditteranean touch, but not a Japanese touch. The sushi rice was lacking the sweet and sour flavor of Japanese rice vinegar. Similarly, the cucumber salad, which had a creamy dressing, was not made with Japanese mayonnaise​ which tends to be sweet. Instead, the cucumber salad tasted flat​ but fresh. While I appreciate​ that the decor appears to be authentic, complete with a Samurai's chest gear, the food lacks the same authenticity.
