Kozy Kandles in New Albany is a candle lovers dream. My daughter and I stopped in a couple weeks ago before a cooking class and was wowed at the vast array of candles and the uniqueness to everything they offered. Boho inspired is the atmosphere. There's even a kitty to welcome you and show your lots of lovins. The smells emanating from Kizy Kandles was intoxicating. Heavenly to say the least. We got to meet the owner who is the definition of Cool. Once we sat at the Kozy bar we got our clipboard and were instructed to go pick out of vessel for the candles (I brought a contemporary vessel that I had received flowers in awhile back...tip!!! You get $5 off of you bring your own. The variety of vessels they have very in shape, size and price. Heidi chose a beautify smaller vessel with a lip in a garnet shade. It was perfect for her. Sniffing the scents is the best part. It's funny to see what your nose gravitates to. It was funny because my daughter and I had a lot of similar likes. I'm sure she just loved that!!! Lol. You get to make your candle. The wicks are glued and stabilized in your vessel and you stir the scent and soy wax that you code and get to pour it in. So cool. We left and had lunch at Toast on Market then came back about an hour later and enjoyed decorated the candles with a variety of goodies. Basically they heat up the top of the candle and you can place whatever you like on the top. I chose Dehydrated orange slices, some dandelions and some type of greenery. It was so beautiful. They placed it in a bag and I was off to take this baby home and enjoy it. This is the perfect little fun thing for mother-daughter, best friends or Heck by yourself. It's fun and who doesn't love candles!!!! I sure do.

Leading into the candle wall. Not sure who uses this chaise but I would be up for it!

I have long been a fan of Kozy Kandles and now that they've joined with several other woman-owned businesses under one roof in the Kozy shop, it will certainly be a place I frequent often! It's branded Kozy Goods for the Soul and it's the truth: from houseplants to seasonal scents to self-care rituals and art, it's the perfect spot to shop for yourself or a friend. The entire vibe was relaxing and everyone was so helpful! KOZY KANDLES: these locally made soy candles and wax melts are poured by hand and ethically created. The scents are divine (today, my house smells like fresh-baked bread!) and I love that they burn all the way down and are packaged just beautifully. HOUSEPLANTS: they are impressively displayed upon entrance and the staff was more than happy to help this non-plant lady with recommendations. Also available are plant accessories and a plethora of containers to zhoosh up your home. I didn't catch whether this section has a different brand. IVORY MOON: a range of lovely items (journals, books, incense, tinctures, fragrances) that anyone can enjoy for self-care or that our witchier friends will certainly appreciate. DRIED FLOWERS: these don't sound nearly as exciting as they look! They are arranged beautifully and are the perfect touch for someone like me who isn't adventurous enough to commit to plants that are alive! Available in a range of colors and sizes, I would relish these as gifts. ART: Peyton Turner has a corner with some truly divine art - I just love the colors.

As I'm sipping my delicious wine, I find that my mind is drawn to one important thought: This Ollie's Bargain Outlet that I visited in Clarksville two months ago would have been greatly improved if they sold wine. Ollie's doesn't sell wine (or any alcohol, for that matter). Too bad! But if you're in the market for discounted boxes of Hungry Jack mashed potatoes, bird feeders, comforter sets, off-brand slider storage bags, water guns and neoprene gloves, Ollie's is your store. There's a lot of stuff everywhere, and honestly, it's a little overwhelming. Ollie's takes a page from the Aldi playbook: There are just ripped open boxes of items on the shelves. To heck with aesthetics -- Ollie's is too busy saving you money to fiddle around with arranging items on a shelf nicely. I stopped in to get some lotion, and wouldn't you know, I could only find one bottle of lotion in the whole store. It wasn't a brand that I would have normally bought, but you can't be picky at Ollie's. You get what you get or you can get the eff out. Visiting Ollie's is like participating in a treasure hunt. You don't know what you'll find, or if you'll find anything at all. But it's worth a shot to stop in and try.

Their quirky and modern greeting card selection features unique ways to finish off the present (their bags/tissue paper is typically all I need for a present!). The children's area has the requisite adorable clothes but also some fantastic holiday books and advent calendars. They have displays dedicated to engagement/weddings and birthdays to really make any celebration an extra special event! This is the first outlet in Louisville and was originally announced as a temporary location; however, it must be doing well enough to have stayed in place. It took over the space vacated by the now bankrupt Steinmart. There is nothing fancy about this spot. It very much feels like a dumping site for furniture and is organized by type/room. It is a land of rejected, broken pieces. The signage attempts to excite you - 50% off or more - but then you flip the tag to find out it is still outrageously overpriced on top of being broken. The facility is large, and most workers were either at the front desk or helping people wedge items into their trucks. I appreciated watching the quiet nature of the staff today as a customer carried on a conversation with the customer service team via her cell phone. She was a lot to handle and you could tell they didn't want to escalate the situation. Apparently this spot has a following. Bring a large pocketbook ... and duct tape.

This store was inspired by the idea of having special love and kindness for your community. It also is the perfect place for all sorts of unique gifts. The items that are available here are unique and special. They are probably hand made mostly. They are inspired by brave individuals and ideas that are truly powerful here in the state of Indiana. One iconic example is Rosie. This iconic and independent woman and leader still of women was born right here in Indiana. They have an actually substantial history dedicated just to Rosie. How can you put a value on priceless and worth. Now some of the little trinkets that they sell are pricey, but it's worth the money. It's worthy of the risk of spending too. This store is special and it's clearly celebrates being a citizen of Indiana. We are proud and honored that we can support a local company and community all in one. My most recent experience here was with the owner, JD who helped me so greatly. The unique gifts that he has given to the community at large is priceless in sharing love with others. To me kindness makes the world go round. Being new the area the love of this store was made it to many states of Florida, New York, and Utah. Love has no bounds or rules. I didn't catch the cat's name when I was there, but Vintage Shop Kitty is super friendly and seemed to be receptive to pets. Besides cats, this place also has some really cool clothes -- all of them old, and all of them carefully curated and thoughtfully chosen. I can tell when a vintage clothing store has done its due diligence when I flip through the racks and I want to buy more than a few things. I was THIS close to buying a Western pearl snap shirt, but really: how many pearl snap shirts does a girl need? Regretfully, I put the shirt back on the rack. Hopefully, some other savvy person snapped it up. The Odd Shop has a lot of clothing, but it has just as much vintage toys, records, ephemera and trinkets for sale. Lots of things appear to be used or cheap, Temu level. We asked for antique posters, we got a print that we found online for 1/10 of the price. He also dumped the boxes in our basement, and we never heard back from him. If we are paying for his hours, I would expect service, including someone coming and unpacking and he doing the adjustments, etc. After a few months, I decided to unpack, that's when we found out about the poster and also that some items were missing. We then emailed him, and he looked very responsive saying he would do the adjustments but never did. Months and months just pretending. Enormous emails basically saying he was feeding poor children and awkward unrelated comments. He even insinuated we were having money problems since we wanted our money back. I order things from people I don't know all the time and when there is a problem, those people are usually helpful. I was not expecting this from a person that I have known for over 10 years. Now, I believe his friendship is only for his benefit and it is not real. Be aware of all the fairy tales of how he says he is, of how he has good heart, how he treats his clients and how they treat him. For me it was not only a money pit but also a personal disappointment. It sucks but that is how life is. btw, I still don't have my money back after 7 months of emails.
