The opportunity to get under the hood and see all the work that's being and been done around the city. These are the buildings, structures and places that are normally closed to public access and they all make Milwaukee as cool as it is. I originally was just popping in to see 4 Seasons Skatepark but was urged to head down to the Zimmerman property since I was in the area. No disappointments here. This architectural firm is a Milwaukee treasure and they have taken an extremely old degraded building and breathed new life into it. Not only did they take a wide-open space and add all the charm and elegance of modern architectural flair but they made it alive and useful. Windows everywhere and not a bad view in the house one walks in and can only imagine coming into work at Zimmerman Architectural. Simply amazing! So much old and so much new make for a breathtaking view of an old space that holds all the charm of the modern. This entire swath of buildings once housed the Milwaukee Gas Light Company and was a mass of brick and mortar that formed the structures in the Menomonee River Valley. Now years later these buildings have been repurposed and modernized into what they are today. Nothing less than amazing is what I see this area as. If you ever have a chance to get in any of these facilities go enjoy, you won't be let down.
