(Still) Run by the 94-year-old owner Mr. Trasso, Acropoles is a jewel in the middle of Bom Retiro, a clothes wholesale neighboorhood that gets busy during the week, and lonely during weekends (except by the restaurant). You'll probably not be impressed by the look, the comfort, lack of space, or even by the fact that your food is already prepared in the kitchen and you'll have to get up and go all the way there to pick your food with the cook. But trust me, this all adds up to the experience. And why then did you decide to come here? Yes, the amazing food.
My personal favourites are the Moussaka, an eggplant and meat lazagna, will stay in your mind for a long time (kudos to the perfect touch of nutmeg); another classic are their Parmigian Shrimps, deep fried shrimps covered by a tomato and cheese sauce. And, if you get more people with you, why not sharing half of your plate with someone? Portions are big enough for you to try different plates.
Acropoles is worth a dedicated visit to the neighboorhood. You might not be able to find a quick table if you have a big group -- if that's the case, ask for a drink in the sidewalk and enjoy the surroundings.
