They have trash pickup from your spot every day which is so appreciated. There is a nice pool, a clubhouse that they do activities for the kids, a delicious restaurant to enjoy breakfast, lunch & dinner, and a convenience store next to the restaurant. On special weekends they have bands play at the bar. The beach is easily accessible right across the street. They have a spot to rinse the sand off when returning from the beach. Rentals available for golf carts & kayaks. The management does a great job communicating with guests on a daily basis with the activities for the day making it very convenient. I recommend you bring mosquito spray as they come out at night sometimes. Also recommend to bring a wagon to carry things to beach and firewood & lighter fluid if you want to make a fire on the beach. This is our favorite place to camp at during the summer!

We've stayed at Galveston Island KOA Holiday for the past two years, and I want to share an honest…read moreexperience for anyone considering a stay. First, the positives: this is a beautiful campground with great amenities. The pool, hot tub, and lazy river are fantastic, and many of the staff members are friendly, helpful, and genuinely care about guests. Galveston itself offers so much to do--we especially loved spending time on The Strand and exploring the area. Unfortunately, the biggest issue is the management, which significantly impacts the overall experience. The park manager is unapproachable and runs the campground in a way that feels more focused on control and extra charges than guest satisfaction. Fees are added for things like early arrival, and communication often feels excessive and negative rather than helpful. While guests receive multiple daily texts about activities, we also received messages about things like dog waste in washing machines and stolen cleaning wipes--issues that could have been handled more professionally. There were also ongoing maintenance concerns both years we stayed. We experienced multiple days without water due to plumbing issues, and during our second year, the park was down to a single bathroom because of structural damage. We were told portable restrooms were coming, but they never arrived. Activities were amazing our first year, but the second year saw frequent cancellations. Even simple guest comfort requests--like putting down pavilion sides to block strong wind--were denied, despite those same features being used for staff events. Another concern is how complaints are handled. When an inappropriate interaction with a staff member was reported, there was no management available, and no follow-up from the manager afterward. That lack of accountability was disappointing. It's also worth noting that feedback appears to be filtered internally, meaning corporate oversight may not be getting the full picture. We also noticed an increase in police and emergency presence during our second stay, along with a shift in the overall campground atmosphere. To be clear, this could be one of the best campgrounds in the area--it has all the right ingredients. But until there is more professional, guest-focused management and accountability, it's hard to justify returning. #KOA #KOACamping #GalvestonTX #RVLife #CampgroundReview #RVTravel #FullTimeRV #RVLiving #CampingLife #TravelTexas #HonestReview #CustomerExperience #RVCommunity #CampgroundLife #TravelReview #ExploreTexas #RVAdventures

As a guest, you have to stop by the office to obtain a wristband in order to use any of the Pointe West facilities. I have a service dog and immediately registered her upon arrival, as I am a rule follower. The ladies at the desk were not the nicest at first. They obviously have a registration form because we registered her, but it seemed like they didn't want to allow my dog in when we first walked in. They have a swimming pool, bar, restaurant, and lounge, from what I could tell. We didn't stay long since we needed to get back to the house to decorate. When we entered the restaurant, AFTER registering my dog, the lady in the restaurant had to call for approval. She was a little annoyed and seemed to not trust me when I told her I already registered my dog. Keep in mind, you cannot get passed the gate without stopping by the office because you have to have a code. Once we got passed the service dog "issue", the service was good. We started with the ceviche. It was very tasty. My friend and I split the shrimp platter. Terrific shrimp and onion rings! The serving is perfect for two to split. The atmosphere was a little bland, so I took off one star. Plus, I was still embarrassed it was an ordeal with my dog. I hate confrontation. I felt a place like this (especially for what we spent for the beach house) would be a little high scale of professionalism and decor. Side note: Our beach house was $3700.00 for the weekend - 3 days, 2 nights.

Even in January, it's a warm, beautiful place to relax. One of the smoke detector batteries started chirping and someone called 911. Five minutes later there were five hunky firemen with sirens blazing to replace it. We certainly felt super safe after that exciting experience. There was spray can on mantel with note to use on the lock when it freezes, so owners know there is a problem. Constant spraying didn't unfreeze it for days. This was a worry as both security and theft issues, certainly reflecting very little regard for renters' safety or possessions. The bluray player remote couldn't be located. Source of smell in master bedroom couldn't be determined. I noticed either algae or mold on outside of house so maybe smell is emanating from something similar in walls. Also, bed linens didn't fit bed in master bedroom so week of sliding around the mattress while trying to sleep. There wasn't adequate dishwasher detergent or toilet paper, and the benches at dining table painfully pinched our legs when in shorts. Several days before check-in, the owners sent an email demanding we act as their maid service, which is deceptively, unethically and unprofessionally not advertised on the website, then left a note in house that their maid can be reached if any problems - conflicting messages. When I relayed I have never paid $3000 for a vacation, then provided maid services, I was told they do have cleanings crews come in after stays but "(s)ince there is no one coming in the same day as your departure," you are cleaning. I will be discussing with the Galveston County Health District both the legality of the owners' entitlement mentality in requiring renters to be their maids as well as the unsanitary conditions imposed on renters by the owners' refusal to professionally clean the beach house immediately after renters' stays. There are no outdoor recliners, which have always been available in our many years of beach vacations, other than a broken, rusted yard chair recliner downstairs. During entire week, construction crew walked through the beach house private yard to the beach, pipe was being installed along the road and each concrete driveway on road was broken with a jackhammer. Noise was horrendous, and we were unable to leave the house for a day while work was done on the house driveway. Meanwhile, construction workers were out on the beach taking pictures of us and urinating in surf. We have been unable to obtain the refund of our property deposit, despite carefully maintaining the beach house and leaving in same condition as check-in.
