As someone with a prior DUI, and a laundry list of other citations and arrests, I was sure that my life and career were over with getting a second DUI. I know that Michael O'Meara is the lawyer you need to hire if you want the best possible outcome. Here is my story: Late one night I was out with a friend in Glen Ellen of DuPage County. I had some drinks and got behind the wheel of my car. I made a poor decision, thinking nobody was watching me, but sure enough Mr. Law was sitting blocks away. Of course I got pulled over and asked to perform a sobriety test. The police officer made his decision that I was intoxicated and he asked me to take a breathalyzer. I refused. Handcuffed...car towed...my life was turned upside down. The day after my arrest I was googling non-stop of what was going to happen to me. I was losing my mind. Since I had a DUI 10 years prior I knew I just turned down a long road and there was no turning back. So, first things first, get a lawyer. I was not happy with the lawyer on my first DUI case 10 years ago when I was 18. 28 years old now, and a job that requires a license, my livelihood and career were completely at stake with little options to fall back on. After researching for a top qualified lawyer with a history in prosecution, I found Mike"s website. I was on the phone with him that day (Sunday) probably within an hour after emailing. He never once tried selling me promises that some of these scam artist lawyers do, and that really stuck out with me. He was very empathetic and compassionate to me over the phone. Completely professional. A quick little piece of advice he told me was to STOP GOOGLING! Everyone's situation is different and that constantly obsessing over this would drive me crazy. He was right. SO, long story short...not only did I need to get the DUI dropped down to reckless driving, I NEEDED to get my license rescinded to to avoid the suspension from not breathalyzing. All a complete long shot for someone who has a prior DUI. Mike not only got the prosecutor to rescind my suspended license, but he successfully got my DUI dropped down to a reckless driving. Pay whatever the man is asking for his services and hire him. Now, that we've got that out of the way, I can explain why. My hubby and I have lived in Chicago for 10 years now. Since then, we've met a lot of great people. Some of them are amazing law / police officers. Unfortunately, my hubby has crossed paths with a few invidious police officers that lead to him hiring Mr. Uche on two separate occasions. The first dealt with a DUI sting where the officers were arresting almost anyone who drove pass their "trap". My hubby called me after they pulled him over and told me to come get the groceries he had just picked up from the store. When I came to pick them up, the officers assumed I had driven through their "trap" and were going to arrest me until one officer had a conscience and told the other officers I came from a different way (and he let me get the groceries out of the car my hubby was in, too). They arrested him that night without giving him a breathalyzer. My hubby originally contacted several other lawyers that told him they didn't think they could do anything to help him. When my hubby went for his first court date, we saw Mr. Uche in the hallway of the courtroom and my hubby ask for his business card, explaining to him what happened. My spouse and I talked about it that night and we both noticed he was the ONLY lawyer of all the ones my hubby spoke with that sounded even remotely confident about helping an innocent person be found not guilty. That's when we both agreed it was best to hire him. And our intuition was right because Mr. Uche was able to almost effortlessly defend my hubby and he was found not guilty. The second case was related to my hubby being in a van with six other individuals he played basketball with. The van was pulled over for a broken cracked light/lamp. Unbeknownst to my hubby, someone in the vehicle had a concealed weapon(s) that they placed on the floor of the van at some point during the traffic stop. The officers searched the van because of the broken tail light. Instead of the officers charging all seven of the individuals (or even at least the individuals that the weapons were near), they charged my hubby. Again, my hubby called Mr. Uche and explained the situation. Mr. Uche said, "don't worry - we'll win it." AND my spouse was found not guilty. IF there's anything I can say we've learned about these experiences, it's: 1) Don't drive in Chicago; take the metra, L-train, or catch an Uber instead to avoid being wrongfully charged for something you didn't do, and 2) Hire Mr. Uche if you do get charged with anything! If he says he'll win your case and find you innocent - believe him! P.S. He's not one of those cheap lawyers with empty promises. The process server they utilized also took approximately four months to serve the tenant, causing significant delays. Even after service was finally completed in March, there has still been no clear communication regarding the status or progress of the case. To make matters worse, the process server reportedly left with keys to the building, which raises serious concerns regarding security and professionalism.
