5 stars for what it is: which is a dang good sausage 'n fixin's shoppe.
DANG GOOD.
Like, enough to make a not-usually-a-sausage-eater eat her lunch so quickly she didn't even have time to succumb to the hipster pull to Instagram her meal first. THAT GOOD.
I was in Malmo on a Monday, a day when some restaurants and galleries opted to be closed (poor planning, self!). Fear not: I walked (a lot) and worked up a mad hunger. A crazy hunger that no amount of drinkable yogurt and lingonberry candies could squelch. Enter Korvhuset.
The options here are pretty limited in that: its specialty is sausages. However, within that there is some flexibility; most notably, a veggie sausage. There was no coleslaw or potato salad left after the lunch rush, so my plate was recommended by the very helpful dude behind the counter. My meal of the day (seriously; it was massive) consisted of:
a 'Spanish style' chorizo-like sausage
mash, free of lumps and perfectly creamy
sauerkraut for a little tang
spicy Scandi mustard
pickles
Swedish shrimp salad (a mayonnaise-y salad studded with shrimp and heavy on the black pepper)
Tiny nubs of fried onion
All on one mess of a plate.
Totally affordable, fast, good quality, house-made taste, and even sausages to purchase to go if you're en route to a cookout and want to seal your popularity. We bought some cured sausages for the road...they didn't last long.
Yelp note: go for the "Swedish shrimp salad". Promise. It's basically like low-brow surf 'n turf. read more
