The self checkout person (dawn) was extremely rude. Instead of just checking to see if we had the appropriate number of items scanned she just CANCELED OUR ENTIRE PURCHASE!!! Then she told us to start checking out again. That was the last thing we had to scan to finish our purchase. We had to rescan everything again. When we told her all we wanted was a check of the correct number of items and asked her why she canceled our entire purchase she told us "I hope you don't come back again". We went to customer service to tell them about our experience and they were very understanding and helpful. On the way out of the store Dawn had a rude comment to us which we went back to customer service and told them about. They were appalled to hear someone working for Walmart would speak to their customers like that. We will NEVER go to Walmart in Marshall again!! We will do our shopping in Sioux Falls where there are Target stores and they know how to treat the people who shop in their store with respect!!!! We will share this experience with others.

I have been going to the Brooking Walmart since it was next door in the smaller building that now belongs to Running's. The Brookings Walmart is like off-line Amazon. A place where you can find lots of selection and very good prices but it requires you to put shoes on and leave your house. Which I am sure accounts for some of the bad reviews. Perhaps it bothers people that they have to walk around and find things on their own, perhaps they suspect there will be a search box by the front door where they can type in "Beer" and some blue vested person will come running with a cart full of cans or bottles. All I know that I have always received the same level of customer service I have expected from a large box store: fair to good. When I want better service and products, I go to specialty stores and pay a whole lot more. So you just keep being you Walmart. The customers will continue to come and buy your goods, stop in at Subway, pick through the clearance aisle, impulse buy at the checkouts, and complain about every little thing.

Brett and his family and staff were always very friendly to me, which is not something you're used to when you're in sales. I have since moved on and follow them on FB and see all of the great ways they are impacting their community. From fundraising events to setting up volunteer delivery for seniors during COVID-19, the Almich family goes above and beyond to serve their community in every way possible. The boss at the time (mike) was an unfair and disloyal boss. Mike was laying to my coworker about how much she was getting paied hourly. Mike also gave people who had tattoos/piercings or wasn't white, not the same respect as the other employees. When everyone quit, but me and one person, I asked for a raise and all they wanted to give me was 25 cents more. If you plan on working here, realize you wont be getting paied well, or raises at all, they will give you more work and responsibilities, but refuse to pay you for what your worth. The food handling could be way better as well, the way they handle their chicken is honestly disgusting. One time there was a spider in the batch of chicken and I asked what to do about it, and the deli manager told me to fry it up anyways. The deli manager also seemed to really bully her employees, making the coworkers cry form time to time,and no one would do anything about it. Dont ever show up late without calling too, otherwise they will call welfare on you. The atmosphere of that place always kept me on edge and the bullying made me not wanna go into work, because the deli manger. She will make you feel horrible for the small things you mess up on and talk behind your back about it with all the other employees. Her fake nice seems so real tho. The only decent people I honestly saw and had conversations with at spicers teals makert , was with the meat department. Those guys were the best.

You can lose a lot of business over a ten dollar item...hope that they read this. You might have a monopoly in Madison...but you will make a lot less off me.
